We were really impressed with the quality of this DVD player. It improves the picture of the DVD even if it is not a Blue Ray disk. Glad we purchased it

This 4k Blu-Ray player was my second choice in players. I have had a lot of issues with the Samsung 4K blu-Ray player freezing, stopping, pausing, skipping when playing 4K UHD movies, (X2). Since owing this Sony UBP-X800M2, & with 8 movies under its belt, I have not had any issues with the 4K discs. ( I hope this stays the same.). The set up was easy & didn't take very long. It would have been nice to have a couple of home buttons on the remote (AMAZON PRIME VIEDO, HULU, ETC. other than Netflix. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with this payer. So, we will see if it is the 4K UHD Blu-ray players at fault or the disc manufacuters for playing errors in 4K UHD discs.

I purchased this player as a source for my new Sony 4k tv. It is hard to tell if the pictures are better because fo the 75" 4k tv or the 4k DVD player. All I know is that everything looks great.

Bought this to replace my Samsung Ultra HD player as they have gotten out of the Blu Ray business and don't provide upgrades. Great system...no worries!

If you have a Sony Sony - STRDH790 receiver, don't expect the volume control on the Blu-Ray remote to directly control this receiver volume. I was able to get the Blu-Ray remote to control the TV volume, which in turn was able to control the amp volume via the HDMI cable. It does do a good job playing my 4k discs,

I still own my first Sony Blu-Ray player from 15 years ago so I know I am buying top quality. However; little has changed over the years so one would expect the price to have come down a little.

Form factor and mounting options. Pretty good. Limited inputs so that's just so so. Primary complaint is doesn't always connect audio when it connects HDMI. Have to cycle through inputs to get it to pick up the audio. There are probably better options.

      Hi JTNRWC,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the UBP-X800M2 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player. We appreciate recognizing its potential.

And we sincerely apologize that you are experiencing intermittent audio connection issues with the HDMI, which is requiring you to cycle inputs. This is often a communication issue (or "handshake" error) between the player and the connected audio device (Sound Bar or AV Receiver). Please try the following troubleshooting steps, which are specifically designed to re-establish a reliable HDMI connection:

      1. Re-Establish Audio Connection - First, ensure your audio device is actively "listening" for the player's signal: Confirm the input selector on your Sound Bar/AV Amplifier (receiver) is correctly set to receive the audio signals from the Blu-ray player.

      2. Perform a Full Power Cycle - A complete power reset helps clear communication errors between devices: Please unplug the UBP-X800M2 Player and your audio system/TV from the wall outlet for 2 minutes. Disconnect the HDMI cable connecting the player to the audio system/TV, then firmly reconnect it. Plug the audio system/TV back into the outlet first, and then plug the Blu-ray player back in.

      3. Try connecting the UBP-X800M2 Player directly to your TV and test if the audio issue persists when bypassing the AV/receiver or Soundbar

For advanced troubleshooting and detailed setup instructions, including HDMI and audio settings, please refer to the player's reference guide (Page 28 addresses common sound output issues):

If the audio issue continues after trying all these steps, we recommend contacting our technical support team for further assistance:
