Picture is great but.......

Can't return it because I don't have the original box anymore so I'm stuck with it. Going to give it away and buy an LG or Samsung or any player that doesn't turn itself off.

Fails to Play 4K Movies W/O Freezing

Sony is ignoring the issue when I speak to them. I don't think sending the player in for service will fix this issue. Sony appears to not be doing anything about it; highly disappointed.

Defective Sony UBP-X800M2

I have had this unit about 30 days but it failed while playing only the third disc. It has gone completely unresponsive. I have had good experiences with Sony in the past, but my bad experience with this UBO-X800M2 will overshadow those memories. I’ll be returning this unit at my earliest convenience.

We're truly sorry to hear that your Sony UBP-X800M2 is no longer responding to the remote. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially after using it for only about 30 days.
Here are some useful troubleshooting steps that can help resolve this problem:
1- Power reset the player. You will need to disconnect the power cord from the outlet and leave it like this for 2 minutes. Then plug the power cord back into the outlet and turn it on.
2- Please try changing the batteries in the remote and resetting it. To reset, remove the old batteries, press each button on the remote twice, then insert the new batteries and test it.
3- Check if the player responds to the physical buttons on the front panel of the unit. This will help you diagnose whether is an issue with the remote or the player itself.

I read the Manual & it said If It Freezes up, Un Plug It to Reset it, Did & Still FROZE!!! This was My First Sony Product & My LAST SONY PRODUCT !!!

Problems with Sony DVD 4k player!

Unit turns off ever 10 to 15 minutes on any format DVD for no reason. Impossible to watch movies. We have all new 4K HDMI cables. Talked to Geek Squad at the store and they were no help. I bought the Geek Squad coverage when we realized that there were problems that we realized when the the return period was almost up. I took as a while to install the new TV and DVD player. I don't really no what to do now!

Sound is OK not like at store with Bass lacking

I can't make it through a movie without it freezing several times, this is truly a PIECE OF CRAP!!!!I I expected a lot more from Sony, especially when spending over $250. Horrible picture and old type menu

Ultra 4K player

When switching manually to Dolby Vision, movie paused for a second and continued to play on a couple movies. I am ok with it, but then played on another movie, the player permanently freezes and whole experience messed up. Had to power cycle, played the same scene, and player played ok. Seems like its random. Hopefully there is a firmware update to allow automatically detect Dolby Vision and fixes the pause/freeze issue.
