Mediocre Player
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disk Player is okay. The setting screens seem ancient and this player froze up a lot when turning on. I had to unplug device to get going each time. Provides crisp video both in Dolby Vision and 4k UHD

4k is stunning
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4k UHD player has a lot of settings that can be adjusted to match what works best for your particular TV and preference. Setup and navigation are easy but it may take some trial and error to adjust the color rendering formats, audio formats, and display sizing the way that you want them. The upscaling is excellent, UHD is perfect, and all special features on the discs are accessible. You can stream links from discs, Netflix, Prime, and Youtube. The only thing that disappointed me on this player is that it would not play some old Northern Exposure discs. It apparently is not compatible with the double sided format that the DVDs use.

Very good player
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solidly built and attractive in your rack, this 4K Blu-Ray player handles disks that even other players won't read. Sound is strikingly clean from the pass-through 2nd HDMI output, while video is sharp and colorful from the primary. The only thing negative I can come up with is lack of streaming apps. Then again, I didn't get this to stream.

Excellent player
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This player is excellent. The only downside is if you connect the audio directly to a receiver or soundbar there's a slight sync issue, but there's no options in the settings to alter that. Other than that, it's an excellent player with great sound and picture.

Nice player
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Afrter looking at many reviews I chose this player pver the less expensive Sony and the similarly priced Panasonic. The reviews of all players showed some issued with freeze ups during playback but the percentage seemed lower with this player. The player seems to have good build quality. I have played a few disks both 4K and standard Blu Ray. I saw great picture quality and have experienced no freeze ups. Hopefully problems won't develop later. Based on the number of reviews that complained about freeze ups, I did purchase a Geek Squad 4 year plan

Amazing Blu-ray player
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing Blu-ray player! It was extremely easy to set up and connect to my receiver. And it is also easy to control via HDMI CEC via my Sony TV as well. Dolby Vision 4K is automatically set up by default for supported titles, too!

Great option for disc playing
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great player for all your discs formats. Dual HDMI outs. Didn't know only three apps for streaming. Wish I had more choice there. I own a previous model which has more streaming options. Like that it has Bluetooth feature for headset pairing and late night watching.

the best 4k movie player
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony Streaming 4K is good at 2 things, 1 compact and 2 the high resolution it can project, what a beast of a 4K machine. Plays high-quality Blu Rays and 4K. The DVD can be unpredictable depending on the grade, but this is an improvement machine, without a doubt, a powerful machine and also without delays and also quiet when playing a movie since in other players you can hear how the DVD sounds, literally they sound like a plane taking off, Having WiFi makes it one of the best DVD players out there.

Great Picture and Great Value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony UPB-X800M2 is a great performer. I also have the Sony UPB-X800 that also shows a great picture but it does not have Dolby Vision. Both units are identical cosmetically but the M2 version seems to be a little crisper in the picture. I was very disappointed that the X800 was not upgradeable to Dolby Vision but the unit is at least 5 years old. Unfortunately the option to view a selection in Dolby Vision has to be manually selected through the picture options in setup and returned manually when not viewing a Dolby Vision movie. Both units perform audio masterfully. The price made this a good selection for me because the X800M2 was $200 less than it's Panasonic competitor.

Great as a starter 4K player.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it’s been a great player! I love how you can connect to Bluetooth headphones. It’s a solid player for people getting into 4K players. The only negative is that it glitches here and there. I would have to restart the whole player. It’s happened rarely, but it is still a pain. Other than that, I enjoy the player very much.

Excellent performance better than average remote
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit is much heavier than most blu-ray players and is is supposed to make for a more stable output from the laser module and it seems to work very well. There are multiple output ports including two for HDMI, one for video and audio and one for audio only. Current generation WiFi is supported and provides for enough bandwidth to stream 4K videos from Amazon. Be aware that the second HDMI output for audio only is to be used if you do not have a AV receiver that can process the full 4K stream from the player. Do not use this second HDMI output if you have a AV receiver that can process 4K video and audio as the Sony seems to overheat and have problems with video output when it has to support both HDMI ports. I have a Denon 4300H and it has no issues when processing the 4K output from the Sony UBP-X800M2 player using the single audio and video HDMI port. The remote is one of the better designed ones with a clean user interface and not crowded with superfluous buttons.

I’m addicted to blu ray now.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a guy who has an Xbox and PS5 I already had 4K players. They work well enough in their own right, and they offer amazing value, but my biggest issue was lack of Dolby vision support. I never got the full potential of my blu rays on those devices. As a videophile I had to get a standalone player. It’s QUIET, the picture is fantastic and also the use of an old school remote makes utilization a breeze. If you’re not too crazy about physical media or you’re just fine with the value that the consoles give then don’t worry about it, but if you want the best picture quality and care about DV without streaming this is a good investment.

Great 4K player
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the UBP-X800 and loved it so much I had to buy another for another room. Great picture on any disc. The audio is awesome. I have lots of SACD and DVD-A discs. This player will play most any disc except for HD DVD. I like the streaming options better on the older unit. If this had the same streaming options it would be 5 stars.

Sony does it again !
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A requirement if you want to see what the new Ultra HD talk is all about. With a 4K TV, correct HDMI 2.1 cable and the Sony UBP-X800M2, I'm in heaven. If details and sound quality are important, this DVD player gets the job done !

Excellent colors. Easy set up. Great value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Sony unit as back up for my OPPO UDP-203 4k player. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the unit which ranks with my OPPO player despite it being a lot less expensive. The Sony unit also plays my SACDs and is easy to set up. I give it my highest recommendation.

One of my favorite technology purchases!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this new player! It is very easy to use. The picture is fantastic! I now refuse to buy anything but 4K Ultra HD movies. The sounds is better, the picture is better. The only problem with it is that I want to watch movies when I should be at work or working in the yard.
