YouTube app free movies green screen issue
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony UBP-X800X2, I bought in 2022, YouTube app does not work well. If you want to watch the YouTube free movies, this player just bring back green or black screen. I don't know if prime video and Netflix apps have the same issue.

Product did not work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sorry but this product did not work with my TV. I was told it would by the sales person. Unfortunately, that information was not correct. I returned the product and bought another one. I had a salesperson who understood my TV setup and he helped me with a new purchase that does work. It may be a fine product, but just did not work for me.

Not good for Movie's, ok for TV
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first a good system but no later than 6 months after purchase I noticed that the Bass and the volume seemed to be of less than where I would set it and had to keep on moving the volume up, Bass was always weak never did hit very hard at all so movies don't have the same impact as a good home theater system does no power in the system at all.

Posted .Hi wpdillon,
Thank you for your feedback on the UBPX800M2. We understand your frustration regarding the limited number of apps available on the player. The UBPX800M2 is designed primarily as a high-quality 4K Blu-ray player with a focus on delivering exceptional audio and video performance. As such, it includes a limited selection of pre-installed streaming apps: Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube. Unfortunately, it does not support the addition of new apps.
We value you, and we appreciate your feedback. If there is something that we can help you with or you may need more information with our product, please feel free to email us at socialsupport@am.sony.com with the following details for best assistance.

Poor programming
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute junk. Press the power button to turn on....after 5 seconds it turns back off. Takes 4 or 5 trys of this to get the machine to stay on. Then there is the skipping, every 4k video skips at some point, brand new discs. Yes they are clean. Did I mention how much I love skipping? Will be returning shortly for a different brand.

Returned to BestBuy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Item was sold as like new, from local BestBuy. Actually came from Georgia, wear damage and remote missing. Called the Georgia store and they said I would have to carry it back to the Georgia store 400 miles from here. Took it to the local BestBuy and was returned and money refunded. Not a good experience purchasing over the internet.

Disappointed with this product
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn't even 2 years after I bought it that it quit reading any discs that are inserted. I've had much cheaper players that I've had 5+ years that still work fine.

I Like It!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first 4k Blu-ray player. I had a regular Blu-ray that was great, although there were a couple movies it would not play. I eventually realized it was the player. This 4k player, was able to play of them; it was the original Piranha. :-) The unit: it is black, basic box shape and heavy. I was surprised at how heavy it was but whatever. I'm not going to be lifting it other than when first putting it where I need to put it. There is no display (to show you time or anything else). At first I thought, where is my display? But I actually prefer it display-less. All the way to the right edge are the power button and then right beside it, to the left, is the eject button. There is a tiny LED light that lets you know the unit is on. I powered on the machine, went through the setup (used the manual to guide me) and then performed the update. All went well. The home screen is very basic, which I am not used to, but I appreciate it. The machine powers on quickly and loads discs quickly. As far as discs, I watched Avengers: Infinity War and Aquaman. Both looked and sounded great. It does what it's supposed to do. I have a Samsung sound bar (2.1, w/ sub) setup. I use the HDMI for A/V input. My tv is a Samsung 4k. I then tested a CD (an old Silkk the Shocker CD). It takes slightly longer to load (than blu-rays). It played fine, through my sound bar. I then tested the bluetooth. I was able to pair all 3 of my bluetooth devies - LG bookshelf stereo, LG PK7 portable bluetooth player, Sony wireless bluetooth over-the-ear headphones. Although all three paired, only the portable bluetooth speaker and the headphones worked. You can pair up to 9 devices to remain in the 4k player's memory. I won't be using this feature, because I have plenty of better ways to play my music; but I wanted to test it. I then tested the Network capabilities. I went to the settings, which recognized my router and Plex. I went through Plex and played a video. It worked. Warning: it fast forwards fast as he-- !!! You have to go through folders like Windows file explorer to get to what you want. But when you get there, it plays. The picture took some seconds to clear up. I will never use this feature, nor will I ever use the machine for streaming services. I have a dedicated Roku for all of that. I AM surprised though that it only includes 3 streaming services and of them is not Hulu. That's wierd. Why have any at all then if you are only going to include 3. Anyway, thank goodness I have zero intentions of streaming with the player. I should also get into this old school-looking remote. I don't like the remote (but who truly cares, right? The star of the show is the actual player). The remote is a fat rectangle block. It just screams 90s. It is a good size though. And the layout is fine. In all, I really like this player. I am pleasantly pleased. And I totally recommend it.

Too much technology
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Will not play older DVD's. Since 4K is fairly new, I still have older DVD's and Blu ray disks that do not play in this device.

Poor video replay
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All Brand new 4K and all videos skip! I made an appointment with geek squad so they can take a look. I am very disappointed. On 6-13-2020, we bought a 55" Samsung TV and were looking forward to watching 4K videos.

Great Player/Picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my previous BluRay player with this 4K model. The picture is a little better than BluRay and everything works well with the player/remote. I have not had a chance to go through all the functions, however what I have works well. Out of the box it was easy to install but once connected to the wifi needed an update (which is typical for most devices that connect to the internet) I run mine directly to the hdtv and off wifi but there is an ethernet option and additional ports (HDMI/USB). I tested out a couple 4K DVDs I received and already own and the picture is great. The player also works fine for regular DVD and BluRay. With any 4K player/device, it will only play as well as the screen you are playing it on (so if you do not have a 4K tv you won't get 4K playback) Great player, no lag in play or loading. I would recommend.
