Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I could say this is a great unit, when it worked it was a very good unit, picture sound top notch. (Had it for about year and a half). The first couple of up dates went okay but started freezing up had to unplug to get out of what ever loop it was in, Happened when I was steaming Netflix or amazon, but then the last up date killed it. Would freeze up two three time in 15 min (had to unplug), while streaming, then the sound on the blu-ray or the 4k went, I finally gave up. I had read reviews from poeple (when I first purchase) who had these issues but I thought Sony would have work out these issues and it would be okay to purchase the unit, no such luck. I have read recent (12-28-22) reviews from people who are still are having the same problems and Sony still has not resolved these issues. Whats up Sony, planned obsolescence?

Had second 60 days same issue, picture fades out and then feeezing. threw it in trash, bought a Panasonic up 420 which is cheaper all the features and wow picture and sound is much much Better

Their website help forum is LOADED with people whose machines freeze up constantly. I purchased one at BestBuy 2 days ago, and it won't play ANY Blu-ray disk without locking up!! The crappy machine won't even eject the disk. You have to unplug from the wall and reset just to get the disk out. I've tried about 8 discs so far. I wish I had read the forums before purchasing, because this is a COMMON OCCURRENCE. SONY MAKES JUNK!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be returning mine to the store this evening.

Every time I insert a disk it did not recognize it and displayed No Disk message. I tried everything from updating the software to factory reset but nothing worked. I followed community weblogs but no luck. Today I contacted Sony customer support and they had no clue as why an expensive BD player is not recognizing the disk. I never had bad experience with my Cathode ray Sony TV or Sony Cyber Shot Camera. This time Sony failed to deliver a quality product

I have NEVER been a Sony fan but was talked into these based on the sales guy and reviews. My TV just shuts off randomly and this Blue Ray player has been so finicky......works some times....doesn't others. I now keep an older blu ray hoooked up so when the Sony doesn't work I at least have something to watch. Last night the Sony Blu Ray wouldn't power on, we unplugged it and plugged it back in and it powered up but then would not play the movie...tried 4 different movies never got it to work......sticking with my older Pioneer until I can find a Pioneer 4K

I took it into Best Buy and they told me that it would be Eighty Five dollars to be inspected.
