I have 50yrs of audio video experience and have owned many Sony Products including a 65in OLED A80 flat panel tv. This player has a substantial weight of 8lbs check out other players even more expensive ones and you'll see they are typically 3-5lbs. I also own a Panasonic UB9000 at about 20lbs, but it is nearly 3 times the money. You can't go wrong with this player. What I can't believe is how I ordered it online yesterday and it is here today! My Ku Du's for Best Buy being on the ball......

Love Sony for their blu-ray players ECT. The quality of this unit is outstanding from the slim design to the picture. Easy set up and easy to use. Well worth the price considering if you have a 4K TV to go with it. Would by again.

Best DVD for the price out there. Higher than average, but you get a sturdier build, upscaling, various media format support and the Sony one and only brand.

My final selection was this Sony UBP-X800M2 Blu-Ray Player. I researched and shopped players within this price range that would compliment my new AV Receiver and OLED televison. I decided this unit would fit the bill for me. It has all the newest features allowing it to communicate with my other new feature rich home theater components via HDMI connectivity. It can currently stream Wi-Fi from YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video if needed although I have not performed this task as of yet. This model also came bundled with two 4K Blu-Ray Disks. The unit itself has a well built solid feel to it and has been playing my HD 4K Blu-Ray Discs beautifully as advertised with no problems detected. It's a very feature rich unit with a included remote controlling all of the usual optional features including it's pleasant onscreen menu system.

Purchased this to replace my Sony 700 player that was freezing up on 4k discs. Plays great and the homepage is simple. Remote is easy to use and all the buttons respond great. Picture and audio is amazing!

There are times you should treat yourself to all the data. Streaming is great; it's fast convenient and 4K Dolby Vision is widely available. But, the movie is still being streamed so some compression is taking place and that prevents you from seeing all the movie has to offer. For those films that deserve the full resolution, full sound treatment, get a 4K disk and put it in this player. Then sit back and enjoy everything the movie creators wanted you to enjoy. Stream the minor or disposable stuff, but for the big films, see them on this player. It's easy to use and delivers movies to your eyeballs the way they were meant to be seen.

Easy to set up and works great. Excellent color and detail. I really like that it upscales normal Blu Ray movies to 4K . Inexpensive and a great addition to any Home Entertainment system.

This player paired with no problem with my Sony amp and television. The picture quality is excellent and upscaling is great, at least for my DVD's. The unit is quiet enough that I am not bothered by the spinning disk. The remote is good.

This is a great and simple player, Easy to set up and Remote Control easy to use. Great Picture, seems to work well, it replaced an older Sony player, It does a great job upgrading standard dvds.

Great Blu-ray player for the price. I replaced an old PlayStation 3 which had served as my blu-ray player for several years. The new unit was easy to connect and setup.

Blu-Ray player is very nice. It plays videos good and with our surround sound, they are great? It's like being in the movie theater.

This BluRay player is easy to use and works great. The color is spectacular and the sound outstanding.

Impressed with the quality sound of SACD multi channel. That was my main reason for buying this unit. Needed an HDMI connection since my new receiver doesn’t have 5:1 analog inputs.

Plays Everything I threw at it. Excellent picture even on the older HD Plasma I have. Easy to set up and use. I use a universal remote which works great on the BD player.

My new Sony 4K UHD Blu-Ray player replaces an older Blu-Ray DVD player that did was not 4K. This new Sony 4K player is an excellent value. My only criticism is that it could use more streaming services.

This bluray is the latest version with Dolby Vision and HDR10 for incredible viewing detail and accuracy. It comes with high-resolution audio, Dolby Atoms and DSEE HX. This is the best bluray to listen to music in high quality formats.

Very well built and can play pretty much any kind if audio/ video disk made. I am using this primarily for a 2 channel music system using a computer monitor to act as the on screen display ( although music DVD's and Youtube music videos also show up when playing. The minus 1 star is for Sony really missing the boat on what it could be as a streamer. Comes with 3 apps ( Netflix, Amazon Video and Youtube) and no provision to download more. My 6 year old Samsung BluRay player has a lot more apps loaded by default and a store where you can download more. With the quality of the DAC this thing has, the ability to play High Rez audio n PCM or DSD mode, this would be a killer streamer if they added Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music HD apps. If the missing ability does not impact how you use it, this is a 5 Star player.

I was mainly looking for the audio capabilities in this unit combined with the massive framework and weight that gives it stability. I've been using Sony Blu-ray players for several years now in order to play SACDs, DVD-Audio and Blu-ray audio discs in surround sound. The units were so lightweight that they slid when I just tried to push in the disc tray. This new unit plays all the audio formats that I need from it, and it's like a rock--it doesn't budge while I'm closing the tray, and I'm sure that also translates into less vibration during playback. The 4k is just a bonus for me, but since I've got it now, I went ahead and bought four discs. They do look great and Blu-ray discs also look great on it.

4K Blu-ray players will probably be as far as physical media will go. As convenient as streaming can be, this is the best possible experience you can get watching movies with a home theater system. It supports all the latest visual technology, including Dolby Vision. The player is well built and sturdy. Has a nice heft to it that makes it feel premium. To get the most out of it, make sure you have it connected to a well deserved TV that supports HDR.

I bought this player mainly because I have a high end audio system and want the ability to play SACD, DVD Audio and other hi-res audio formats. It is setup in a two channel system connected to a stand-alone digital to analog converter and a Vizio P-series 65 inch UHD TV. The functionality of this player is outstanding. It loads quickly. SACD, DVD Audio, Blu-Ray audio and good old Redbook CD play seamlessly with no need to toggle into settings when you change formats. The on-screen menu allows for reasonably quick adjustment of both audio and video settings. The need for manual switching for Dolby Vision is a hassle, but since I am primarily interested in audio, I don't mind. My one complaint is it lacks a 12V trigger, but this feature is not available on most other players in this price range. My main entertainment center is a 5.1 system and I am strongly considering this player for it.
