I've had no issues with this player at all. It handles 4K like a champ and I do believe it improves tired ole DVDs as well. But, with 4k Blu-ray it shines!

I was looking for an all region 4k blu ray player and if you google that, this model from best buy comes up first. Just wahted to warn others, it in fact is not region free. Sony doesn't sell any region free models directly. It doesn't say anywhere that it does, but it doesn't say anywhere that it doesn't, and since it plays every other format imaginable it was a bit confusing. That being said I ended up returning this one and getting a modified one that us all region from another company. However I did try regular blu ray and 4k movies and they played seem less without issue. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the lack of apps for being a smart device. It comes wirh netflix, prime video, and YouTube. Unfortunately you can't download additional apps. Also doesn't come with an hdmi cable which is kind of lame. It's a great basic 4k blu ray player if that's what you're looking for, just know it's smart features are limited.

Great addition for our 4K Sony TV. Going back to DVDs and this is the best way to watch them.

Im really love the perfect picture, the quality and the Dolby Vision is really good....definitely love watch movies in my Sony 4k blue ray...

This player should be great. It outputs a beautiful picture and upscales both bluray and quite admirably. The problem is that it skips amd paises on triple laueres discs. I returned the 700 for the same reason. Unfortunately ive bought so many discs now i am neing forced to buy the Panasonic 820 for $500 but it seems roplay all dowc as wel as Dolby Visio.

This has been a great player for me so far. It is the second Sony Blu-ray player I have owned and treats me well. The picture quality is excellent and the DVD upscaling is impressive. I recommend this to anyone who still uses physical media. We are a dying breed, Forever physical!

This player is great. The upscaling of DVDs is as advertised. It also plays PAL media flawlessly. Only problem is the playback of media saved to a usb drive. Certain brands tend to play better than others. I do have it hooked up to our WiFi and no problems there. I am not using the embedded screening apps as we already use our TV for that.

Just plugged in my new Sony UPB-X800M2 Bluray player and it works great! Very easy to setup and picture quality is fantastic. The disc loads quickly as well. The remote is easy to use.

The Player works great and was easy to use and connect to the internet, only drawback is there are not any apps you can download to it.

Outstanding 4K Blue Ray DVD Player. Very easy to use especially with a Sony 4K TV. Does a great job of up-converting older DVDs.

No problems. Works perfectly. Apps work faster than through my "stick" streaming device. Wish it had a display on the front of the unit, not a deal breaker though.

We love it!!! Watching 4k movies on our Samsung 8k TV is awesome! So clear!!! We highly recommend it, along with the Samsung 8k TV.

I got this DVD player to play my old SACD’s as well as 4K blue rays. Everything works as advertised and seamlessly with my Sony television!

Yes, we have only had one opportunity to view movies from this 4K dvd player. From the reviews I read before my purchase, this player surpasses all others as far as quality and all the plus features. Of course, these don't really matter to me but the quality of picture and audio sound we experienced was outstanding. The last brand of this dvd player which I received as a gift was a Phillips and I only was able to use it for about 10 playings of movies before it completely quit working! Hopefully, Sony quality will come through and last much, much longer!

I wanted a player that could play cd, dvd, sacd, etc. Since Oppo seems to be defunct this is the only reasonably priced alternative. I like the dedicated audio hdmi out. Criticisms? Since the only outs are hdmi I needed a converter (from Monoprice) to obtain a way to hook it into my stereo receiver. Also, there is no display: you must use your TV to access setup. Finally, I had a question about that setup that the Sony tech answered correctly. I am pleased with my purchase...and Best Buy price matched.

This replaced a X800 that won't power up after 8 months. This is a newer version of that player. I am hoping this one lasts longer but just in case i sprung for the extended warranty. It does perform as a higher end player should. I also have an LG 4k player and the Sony does look like a high end player in comparison.

I'm very pleased with this player. The picture and sound are excellent, and the interface is VERY clean and uncluttered (I enjoy sorting through sixty apps to find the one that starts the disk). At the time of purchase (5-3-22), the player holds my place when I stop a disk and go back to it later. I saw lots of reviews griping that it didn't do that, and I can only assume that Sony actually listened, because this one does.
