Among the best IEMs that I’ve owned

It’s an engineering tour de force that Sony was able to decrease the size of the Mark 5s by 25%, while increading the driver from 6mm to 8.4mm at the samw time. In addition to music, both podcasts and audiobooks sound amazing on the M5s.

Great sound but...

These xm5 are the most compact. I love the size. Just wish the earbuds had a grippier surface. They are very slippery when handling.

Not as good as the wf xm4s

I personally replaced the foam tips to regular tips. Nothing changed but the comfort got better. Other than that. I over everything else the sound, the fit and the cae size.

For optimum performance, make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app).
If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performance. If any of this is the case, try the following.
-Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.
-The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.
-Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.

These are even better, the case is smaller and shape fits nicer into a pocket, the earbuds are smaller and more comfortable and the sound quality/noise cancelling is still awesome too.

They’re smaller in your ear so it's a great fix for working out and more and NEVER have to worry about them falling out. The sound is better than ever, and I qould recommend these to anyone who isn't worried about paying the high price for a great product.

I use them at work and they last all day and then some. I can still talk to people and hear them, and when I need to use a power tool, one tap on the left bud turns on noise cancellation. Perfect for what I need them for.

Great Headphones, Everything Works Great

The pairing process to Apple products is pretty clunky and kind of frustrating however, and Sony could do a better job at making the process more seamless. Once you pair these they sound really great. I'd say the AirPods Pro 2 sound just a little better than the Sony's, but I believe you can play around with the EQ settings in the Sony app to make it sound to your liking. Also, I believe these headphones and Sony headphones in general will preserve your hearing more than other brands, I have nothing to back it up, it's just from observation and my personal experience from using these Sony headphones and others. These are high-quality headphones and would recommend picking these up if you're in the market for in-ears.

Good ANC and sound, awful for workouts

The touch sensors (which this has instead of buttons) have a really annoying delay which makes it hard to tell if my press registered, so I try pressing again and it turns out both registered so now I paused then unpaused my song and I sit there looking like an idiot for 30 seconds while someone is trying to talk to me, but I can't take the ear buds out because the wear detectors will detect my fingers so my music will play and pause repeatedly in my other ear. Also if I'm working out and my hair gets sweaty and touches the buds, they think I pressed them so it starts pausing or skipping my song every 10 seconds, and wiping them off doesn't fix it so I just need to end my workout early. And sometimes (maybe sweat got in the microphone?) the ANC in one bud will break and make a constant buzzing sound for a day or two before it goes back to normal. First impressions were really good, but the little annoyances and design flaws are a death by a thousand paper cuts. They're decent for sitting still at a desk, but incredibly annoying at the gym.

Your feedback about the touch sensor is greatly appreciated. For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is up-to-date (via the Sony Sound Connect app).
When tapping the touch sensor multiple times, tap it quickly with an interval of about 0.3 seconds between taps. Tap the center of the touch sensor with the pad of your index finger. If the surface of your index finger is wet, greasy, dirty, too dry, etc., the headset may not respond well to tapping. If the touch sensor is in the following states, it may not work or may react incorrectly:
-It is wet with water, sweat, etc.
-It is touched by hair, wet towels, etc.

Best noises canceling

I used the previous generation for over 3 years, and the sound quality of this new version is a noticeable upgrade. I work in a very noisy environment, and the active noise canceling reduces the sound of the equipment by at least half—it's a huge improvement

Would reccomend whenever theyre on sale cause 300$ is a lot but i got them flr 250 which was decent wnough bjt they sometimes go to 230

Sound quality is good, holds a charge well. I think they fit in my ears well, my husband says they hurt and don’t stay in. They do come with several tips to make them fit better. The controls on the buds are impossible to use and barely work. Connectivity to my iPhone is only okay, sometimes they connect sometimes they don’t. For the price, I’d probably get something else.

I spent the first few hours comparing both, and the Galaxy Buds Pro 3 delivered a more dynamic sound with richer bass that the XM5s just couldn’t match. The Galaxy Buds were also noticeably louder. On the positive side, the XM5s fit more comfortably than the Buds Pro 3. However, I found myself constantly readjusting them whenever I smiled or engaged in any activity, which became frustrating. Even after switching to the larger ear tips, the fit didn’t improve significantly. Overall, while the comfort was better, the sound quality and stability fell short of my expectations. I’ll be returning these.
