So when it comes to earbuds I like to buy something comfy and will last a long while. Before buying these I had the XM4s. I'd say they are pretty much the same, though I enjoyed that the last pare (the XM4) was a bit bigger and would stick in my ear better. These are alright, do the job I'd say. I can't tell the difference between these and the XM4, so whichever pair should be okay. Other than that the noise cancellation is amazing and great to use for workout.

They fit like a glove in my ears and they arent obnoxious like the WF-XM4s with them being so giant and having to squeeze the rubber tip to ensure they fit well in your ear. Theyre so lightweight i forget theyre in my ear along with the active passthrough settings you can have on them i can hear everything as clear as day. Really love these earbuds and they have become my daily drivers when connected to my Sony Xperia 1 IV

This pair of headphones does exactly that. Ive got the over the ear 1000XM4 headphones and they are also fantastic. But the main reason I got these were for one reason. The over the ear headphones hurt my head. Im an artist and can spend 4-16+ hours drawing and my thick hair is being squished when I wear these, or if I want to wear my blue light glasses the XM4 can cause unnecessary pressure on the side of my head. These in the ear headphones are BEAUTIFUL! They can cancel out the noise so well even in a car! The battery life may not be as long compared to the XM4’s battery life, but it’s nice having both so it doesn’t make a difference to me. My only con, they are sensitive to tough to the point it’s annoying. Like if I’m drawing and rest my face on my left hand I’ll accidentally activate a different noise mode, or if use my right hand to move my hair out or the way, I’ll barely touch the right headphone and pause the music. It can get really annoying but you can also customize this in the Sony app and turn most of these features off. Another con, it is weird not knowing how exactly these headphones are supposed to fit in your ear, had to look at the video provided in the description to see how they are in peoples ear. Regardless 5 stars and a must have!

It's so great, but a few things hold it back

First, the ear tips. NICE IDEA! It's a silicone foam hybrid. However, they tear easily. the outer layers come off. They are impossible to clean. If you use any alcohol at all or any type of cleaning solution, it eats away at the product. That makes them disposable, unless you don't clean your ear tips. Silicone is the only option, so you have to go after market. Then, good luck getting a good clean fit with aftermarket ear buds. I can't find anything that works perfectly. Once you get a good fit from shoving them in your ear as far as you can, the noise canceling is phenomal, but dies out with any gym movement. Great noise cancelation technology is defeated by a poor fit. Next, connection issues. Using these with my phone at the gym, the right ear regularly loses connection for a short section. Nothing bad, but enough to miss a note in a song. Enough to be annoying. It reconnects in less than a second, but it is frustrating. The phone connection is great, it's a newer model android with the most recent update. The bluetooth has no other issues with any other external speakers, so it's just these. the phone is on the elliptical machine right in front of my face or it is in my pocket as i'm lifting weights. It's constantly the right ear. These sound fantastic and have great noise canceling and may work perfectly with different ear shapes. If you cant put up with the deteriorating ear tips or find a good after market. The dropping connection 20 times in an hour is awful.

Sony WF1000XM5 earbuds

Best Sound Cancelling You Can Find

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased my second pair after the last pair had issues, try all the other brands high end earbuds, Sennheiser, Bose, Apple, Jabra, Shokz, Samsung, and I still came back to the Sony WF1000XM5, reason I could not find anything with better sound-cancelling with the same level of sound quality. These are the best sound cancelling I have ever had the pleasure to use. The only issue with there sound cancelling is the tips. They use foam tips for better sound cancelling, Great Choice but, they are nearly impossible to clean to the level I like. I like sterilize my earbuds and electronics ever once in while, and the tips are not capable of handling any chemicals really. Warm water and a cloth is best. No soap. I got the protection because of the tips but completely worth it for 2 years of protection. If the tips tear or rip, as they do sometimes, so it is covered. I just can bring them in and get them replace. Worth the money for the audio quality and sound quality.

Top Quality For Music, But Not For Calls

My only gripe is the call quality wasn't as good as my Jabra Elite 10s and the app is clunky. Amazing sound and EQ, but….

The xm5 are so much better in the sound quality and the EQ options are amazing. The built in EQ finder worked beautifully. The problems I have are mainly with the touch controls. I can’t adjust the earbuds physcially in my ear without accidentally touching the pause or noise cancelling modes. And why do I have to press the touch control button 4 times to change the volume up and down? Why isn’t there a swipe command to change it? Also the transparency on the airpods are just miles ahead of any other earbud I’ve tried and the ANC seems about the same to the AirPods. If these go on sale it could be worth it but I still think the Airpods pro 2 which regularly drop to $199 are much more worth it if you care more about the transparency and touch controls over the better sound quality. I feel most people wont be able to notice the difference though.

For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is up-to-date (via the Sony Headphones Connect app).
You can also change the settings of the Ambient Sound Mode by connecting the smartphone (with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app installed) and the headset via a Bluetooth connection. Voice focus: Unwanted noise will be suppressed while announcements or people’s voices are picked up, allowing you to hear them as you listen to music. For more information, please refer to this link:

When tapping the touch sensor multiple times, tap it quickly with an interval of about 0.3 seconds between taps. Use your index finger when tapping the center of the touch sensor.

Usa for africa "We are the world" comparison is 5x better clarity _____ touch Controls are too sensitive/responsive. FAST/quick reaction times _____ i dislike finish, prefer a matte finish, gloss makes it look cheaper. Also more slippery due to smaller size profile with glossiness .i foresee many people misplacing pieces (be wary not to lose)
