Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible. If the earbuds aren't fit snugly in your ears, they may feel heavier and more likely to fall out. Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.
The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.

Sold me a broken pair.

They don't connect, won't reset, and certainly dont work. Considering they were supposed to be brand new, this is definitely a big letdown. Jump through hoops, and worst of all noise cancelling is poor. I had the Bose quiet comfort 2 and was totally impressed. It is incredibly quiet on noise canceling. I have an appt today to either return them or figure out why noise cancelling is poor on the sony.

Great little Buds

I've never owned a pair of Sony earbuds i have 3 pair of the headphones witch i have to say i really enjoy listening to them. So i was excited to try these out and hope for the same thing. I have another brand that i use all the time B++++ and i have to say those are great. So on to the Sony 1000x they are small very small so to have a great sound come out from such a small pair of earbuds is awesome. They sound clean and clear. A great mix of bass and treble. They come with a good amount of earbud sizes, I have never had a pair of headphones or earbuds come out of the box and when i open them up they automatically connect to my phone no app needed. I was shocked that my Google app on the phone picked them up right away. Oh and these do have Google assistance on these so no need to use your phone to open your music or to make a call. I am disappointed in these that i can't mow with them on they just can't handle that much background noise. They do have volume with a swipe of your finger up or down and to pause just tap the earbud. They fit very good very light weight i can't tell that i have them in my ear. They don't stick put so you can't really see them> The case is very small you can put them in you pocket and not know you have them. Overall a great little earbud just sorry i can't use them for the heavy yard work like my other ones. But another great product from Sony like always.

Your feedback is extremely important to us and is very much appreciated. We recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Sound Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.
By using the Sony Sound Connect app, you can make few adjustments to your headphones settings to suit your needs. This will give you more control over your headphones and their performance. To ensure optimal performance, as well as to obtain the best fit and prevent the headset from falling out, change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. If you feel earbud tips are difficult to put into your ears, change the size of earbud tips or squeeze earbud tips lightly before wearing the headset. When wearing them, gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Incredible sound and ANC

I understand that statement may come across as hyperbole, so let me explain... The day that these headphones came in the mail, I had a family member experience a significant medical event that necessitated me spending multiple nights in their hospital room with them as they recovered. The active noise cancelling (ANC) from these earbuds helped drown out the "hospital" noise at night and enabled me to get some good, quality sleep during a stressful time. You're probably not reading this review because you're about to spend multiple nights in a hospital room, but you probably are here because you're interested in some great ANC. And this is not just great ANC, it's fantastic. I'm not sure what exactly is happening, but when you put these earbuds in, there's a slight calibration to your ears. I hear it as a faint hum in the background for a few seconds, and then all background noise is gone. It happens automatically, and it is incredible. I'm excited to try these on an airplane for the first time because I'm pretty sure they will even block out that sound. Another great ANC feature is the ability of the earbuds to determine what you're doing and adjusting the levels based on that activity. There are settings for "staying," "walking," "running," and "riding in a vehicle." You can also program the headphones through the app to switch to the various modes based on your location. I have one setting for when I'm at my desk at work and another when I'm having lunch in a local park, for example. To get past the ANC, the audio quality is top notch as well. It's super rare to find some in-ear headphones that have quality bass and that's present here. There are also highly adjustable EQ settings in the app. Battery life has been amazing too. I mentioned earlier that I was able to have these in throughout the night while with my relative, and even with those lengthy sessions, I was able to go multiple days without needing to recharge. If you're looking for a set of headphones that sound great, last a long time, and have top-notch active noice cancelling, I doubt you can do better than these.

Our XM5 is equipped with 360 Reality Audio. 360 Reality Audio is a new music experience using Sony’s 360 three-dimensional audio technology. With the help or use of a music streaming service (charged) app that supports 360 Reality Audio on your smartphone or tablet equipped with iOS or Android. By optimizing the sound field and the acoustic feature of headset with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can enjoy a more realistic sense of reality.
Also, our XM5 has two sound quality modes.
Priority on sound quality: Prioritizes the sound quality.
- When you want to prioritize the sound quality, select “Priority on sound quality”.
Priority on stable connection: Prioritizes the stable connection (default).
- If the connection is unstable, such as when producing only intermittent sound, select “Priority on stable connection”.
