Best ANC in an earbud!

With the ANC off they have really decent isolation. ANC on and you're in your own world by yourself. Pricetag was worth it (in my opinion) I daily drive these with the ambient pass through for a couple hours at a time. Best earbuds ive owned hands down. The app is not super intuitive but offers decent customizations and the full array of toggles for the features they offer.

Worth the money

These are lighter and less bulky. Better and deeper bass with these. I like the fact that you can really crank up the volume level with these unlike other brands that only go as loud as your bluetooth volume will go.

Amazing Quality Earbuds, Fitment was not for me

These earbuds are amazing. The quality and features alone stand out among competitors. However, I did have issues with fitment. I tried all of the provided ear tips but the never fit well enough and this is a larger issue for me cause I wanted to use them while working out with as well. I am not a fan of the memory foam type ear tips so I did return them and tried out the Bose which had better fitment but did notice that the Sony buds had better sound quality and loudness.

It's unfortunate that you were not satisfied with its fit and design. For optimum fit and comfort, it is recommended to wear the headphones properly. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different. The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app also helps you determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.

Good at Best for ME

The sound was good, but as I expected, the ANC was not great compared to the Sony WH1000XM4 (Over the Ear) headphones that I have. Finally, I returned these because I could just not get a great fit with any of the provided earbuds. Over time, they seemed to slip out of my ear canals. The earbuds never fell off, but the seal was not consistent. I much prefer the fit of my much cheaper PowerBeats Pro that hook over my ears. The Beats do not have ANC, but maybe I don't need that in my earbuds.

Regarding the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), it is true that the WF1000XM5, being in-ear earbuds, may not provide the same level of ANC as the over-ear WH1000XM4 headphones. Over-ear headphones generally offer better passive noise isolation due to their design, which can enhance the effectiveness of ANC.
We understand that fit and comfort are crucial for an enjoyable listening experience. The fit of earbuds can vary significantly from person to person, and it is unfortunate that the provided ear tips did not offer a secure fit for you.

Worth the upgrade

For optimum performance, make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app). You can also adjust the settings of the Ambient Sound Mode (via the Sony app) depending on your needs. Voice focus: Unwanted noise will be suppressed while announcements or people’s voices are picked up, allowing you to hear them as you listen to music.
Note: Depending on the ambient conditions and the type/volume of audio playback, ambient sounds may not be heard even when using the Ambient Sound Mode. Do not use the headset in places where it would be dangerous if you are unable to hear ambient sounds, such as on a road with car and bicycle traffic.
