No Regrets on This One.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very impressed with these earbuds. The noise cancellation works remarkably well in a busy office environment, cutting out distractions and letting me focus. I especially appreciate the ability to stay connected to both my mobile phone and laptop simultaneously — it makes switching between conference calls seamless and interruption-free. They’re comfortable, stay in place without issues, and the battery life is outstanding. Overall, an excellent experience.

Design Flaw = No ANC For Me
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF1000 XM5 earbuds was the most anticipated product for me. I already had the Sony Connect app as I own other Sony headphones as well as other brands. So set up was easy for me. The Sony Connect app is excellent, easy to follow and loaded with customization and features. After fully charging the ear buds and completing the set up, I put them through the paces, listening to music and videos, making calls , etc. Everything seemed to work fine. The sound quality was excellent. But the one thing that didn’t seem to work was the ANC. I tried all of the ear piece sizes several times but couldn’t get the proper seal for noise cancellation. I tested each ear piece with the app, but the app indicated that none of them offered the proper seal for noise cancellation. At first I thought I had a defective pair of ear buds, but after 4 days I now realize that the stem that holds the ear piece is too short to go far enough into my ear canal to form a proper seal. If I take my finger and press it against that back of the ear bud as hard as I can pushing it toward my ear canal I can just barely get enough seal to get ANC. I have several other ear buds including the Bose QC and Google Pixel and I have never had this issue. I always use a medium size ear piece and get a perfect seal. This is the first time I have had this issue. A quick fix for Sony would be to make a foam ear piece that is about 1/8” longer. But without a fix these are headed for my drawer or for use only in my home when it is quiet. And this is a shame because the sound quality is fantastic, battery life is very good, and the app is excellent. The case is small and easy to carry in a pocket. The ear buds are light and comfortable in the ear. But they are shiny and slippery. In fact I often have to grab them a couple of times just to get them out of the case because they keep slipping. I hope Sony sees this and comes out with a simple fix (longer ear piece). But until then I cannot recommend these ear buds.

Great!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality on these is excellent. The battery lasts a long time also. The only downside is you have to install the app to get the full customization benefits of sound and whatnot. It is only a minor inconvenience for the benefits the app gives you. I appreciate being able to customize the bass/trebel/etc. and choosing when I want ambient sound or sound canceling. They also have four different foam bud sizes so you can comfortably fit them in your ear. They are lightweight and stay in place even while exercising. I could see the potential to fall out if you were doing something crazy like crossfit or HIIT, but I haven’t tried it so I don’t know for sure. Definitely recommend!

Just like the over ears, but more compact!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a previous owner of the Gen 4 WH1000XM4 and current owner of the WH1000XM5s, I am very familiar with Sony headphones in terms of use. In a nutshell, these are essentially the earbuds version of Sony's excellent WH1000XM5 over ear headphones. They have the same great sound signature, amazing noise cancellation, and long battery life, but now in a much smaller package. The case itself is also pretty compact and has wireless charging, which is a great bonus. In the box, it comes with several different sizes of eartips, but I found the Mediums that came already on them worked perfectly fine. As with other Sony headphones, the app is very useful to know / set them up. If there were any gripes I would complain about, the only 2 minor issues I had when using them are with regards to the slippery glossy surfaces as well as wind noise. If you look in the pictures, you can see there are glossy surfaces on these buds, which can be a little slippery when trying to take them out of the case. I have yet to drop them because of this slipperiness, but something to take note of. The wind noise is with regards to if you are walking in a fairly breezy area, you can 'hear' the wind coming through a little bit. My last slightly minor gripe is regarding the touch controls - they are a little more complicated and less intuitive than I'd like. It is best to check the app, where you can see all the different tap/swipe controls and customize a few also. That being said, while I have yet to do the real benchmark (aka, going on a flight), I do think these are a great choice for someone looking for wireless earbuds with top notch ANC and sound in a compact package.

The BEST
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF-1000XM5 are hands down the best wireless earbuds I’ve ever owned. From the moment I put them on, I noticed how light and comfortable they feel—perfect for long listening sessions without any fatigue. The sound quality is absolutely stunning: rich bass, crystal-clear mids, and detailed highs that make every song feel alive. The noise cancellation is on another level. It’s like stepping into your own world—whether I’m studying, working out, or commuting, everything else just fades away. The call quality is also fantastic; my voice comes through clearly even in noisy environments. Battery life easily gets me through a full day, and the fast charging is a lifesaver when I’m in a rush. I also love the sleek design and premium finish—it really feels like a luxury product. Sony has nailed it again. Hands down the best noise cancelling earbuds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find myself not being able to stop using these new 1000xm5 earbuds. Iuse the small size foam tips and they're so much more comfortable than the previous 2 generations to me. These are great for when relaxing and or when active. I use them when cutting the grass alot, and relaxing at home listening to my favorite music. These paired up perfectly the 1st time with my Samsung galaxy S22 ultra and my Samsung Galaxy tab s8. All I have to to is put them in my ear and open my tablet or phone and these earbuds pair right up to my device. I find the Bluetooth connection to be great with no dropouts after installing a update right after they're first charge. The battery life is awesome as well,I really like the wireless charging case. I just drop my case on my wireless charger whenever it's in need of a boost, no more plugging in cables for charging the case. The noise canceling works perfect as well as the built in ambient noise. If someone tries to talk to me, I literally have to remove these from my ears inorder to be able to talk and hear the person. I can't wait to try these out on a upcoming vacation flight, should be great. So far these are my favorite earbuds, and I have already had Sonys and Samsungs, as well as technics and seininheisers. These are the new guys on the block to beat for sure, hands down.

Good TW earbuds, but it's a crowded market...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Sony 1000X Mark series going back to the M3's. Sony has come a long way since then. These are top of the line TW earbuds, but everyone's ears are different, so your mileage may vary. I also have the Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds II and the AirPods Pro 2. Each excel at some things, while struggling with others. I've yet to find one that is perfect. Noise Canceling - My opinion is that this is impacted by active and passive, The passive aspect cannot be discounted. So much of how well the noise canceling works depends on the seal you get with the earbuds. For me, the Bose QCII works best because it gives me the best seal. And I would say it is not even close. Second goes to the APP2 and the Sony comes in last. For whatever reason, my ears just do not do well with the foam eartips that come with the Sony's. I hear sounds at all frequency's leaking in. If you get a good seal, the Sony's may rise to the top of the list. I do feel they are better than the APP2 with the right seal and would rival the Bose QCII in my ears if I had a better seal. Airplane use - I will say this, when I am going on a flight, for a short haul (maybe up to 2.5 hours), I am taking one of these three. They do the job well enough and fit into my pocket. For a longer haul, my WH-1000XM5's or Bose NC700 (or even QC45) go with me. Their noise canceling is obviously better, and so is the battery life, but comfort for a longer time is why I'm taking one of these. Fit - The APP2 win here. They are just light and very comfortable. I can wear them for hours and just forget that they are there. The Sony's come in second. While the foam eartips are not good for me from a noise canceling standpoint, they are very comfortable and stay in my ears without issue. I do not, however, forget that they are there. The smaller size than the XM4's helps, but I still know I have something in my ear. Having said that, I would actually prefer the Sony's while working out or doing anything active. The Bose QCII comes in last for me. While they are very comfortable for the first 30-45 minutes, I start to get ear fatigue after that and find myself continually removing and putting back in only to have the same pain in a few minutes. Sound Quality - To my untrained ears, the Sony's win this. The equalizer allows unlimited customization, and the base resonates with my ears. The APP2 and Bose QCII both sound very good, just not quite as good as the Sony's. App - Sony wins this by a landslide. The number of things you can adjust and customize is amazing. Multidevice - All three can connect to multiple devices, but only the Sony's connect to two at the same time. The APP2 offer seamless device switching, while the Bose QCII only connect to one device. If you live in an Apple ecosystem, the APP2 win this. It works so easily and efficiently. The Sony's work great with two devices, but not quite as good as the APP2. Phone Call Quality - APP2 win this one. They sound good in all conditions, noisy and quiet environments, and even windy conditions. The Sony's sound much better than their predecessors (and when compared to the Mark 3 have come a long way) but still are not as good as the APP2. The Bose QCII sounds good too, but a little weaker and tin-canny than the other two. Transparency Mode - Apple wins this one. The squeeze hold on the stem and how clear everything is just works. The Bose QCII's are not bad, but not quite as clear. I just can't figure out what Sony is doing with their transparency mode. It does not let much in and what you can hear is hard to understand. That coupled with the fact that it randomly resets from a 20 setting (letting everything in) to a 1 (almost nothing in) after taking them off, putting them in the case and then taking them out again. I had this same problem with the XM4's and it still appears to be there with the XM5's. Doesn't happen all the time, but is very annoying when it does because then I have to get my phone out and go back into the app. Touch Controls - APP2 and Bose QCII are great. Play/pause, skip forward/back, increase or decrease volume. Each are very easy to use and work well. Sony? 4 taps to increase or decrease the volume. Really?? Who is going to do this? And this is just one level increase. If I want to increase 4 levels it takes 20 taps. This will never get used. How is it that every TW manufacturer has figured out on-board volume controls but not Sony? I hope they figure this out. Battery Life - I know there are probably minute differences between the three, but I've never had an issue with TW earbuds in a couple generations for any of these manufacturers. I just don't use them for periods of time that are long enough or where I do not have an ability to charge. Cost – APP2 win this. They are listed less and have been on sale more. Having said that, the Sony’s will likely see some sales soon and even at full-price, they are still worth it. Summary - If you live in an Apple ecosystem, the APP2 are the obvious choice, though both the Sony's and Bose QCII have many positives. If you live in an Android ecosystem, well, I can't answer that as I do not live in an Android ecosystem and never have. However, the Sony's might be the better choice for those with Androids. At the end of the day, it just might depend on what is most important to you. But as I said in my title, it is a crowded market, and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

Amazing wireless earbuds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These earbuds are amazing. I haven’t used wireless earbuds in a few years as I need something with long battery life and other brands I have tried also tended to disconnect quite frequently. These earbuds have long battery life and I was able to make it through the workday without needing to recharge. The case also provides a long charge time which is great in case I forget to charge it between workdays. The earbuds are very comfortable and come with all the usual sized tips. The design of them is great as they sit in the ear with the part that requires tapping to use easily accessible. Skipping tracks, adjusting volume was very easy. The noise cancelling is pretty good. Coming from the older version of Sony’s great over the ear headphones, I like they also include the ambient sound feature. I use these in an office so there are times I need to allow some sound in so I know if someone is trying to get my attention. The best feature in my opinion is that they will pause the music if it detects me talking so I don’t need to take them out to have a quick conversation. Overall I think these could be the best wireless earbuds and will now replace my over the ear ones for daily use.

These are the best earbuds on the market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have AirPods Pro 2 I use(d) at the gym and these are going to be my new go to headphone. There are so many choices when you buy headphones. One of the first is on or in ear. I tend to swap between the 2. I have over ear for travel and some gym days. In ear are good for travel and work, not so much for the gym. These may change that. These are lightweight, you have several options for tips for long wearing comfort. my only complain is how these are shaped and fit in my ear. Other than that, for me, these may be perfect. I have seen some reviews about the codecs etc. I have never had an issue with other headphones not having the ability to play a song. I did not have an issue with these. I was able to have conversations in the gym on my phone (iPhone 14) and I could hear the other person well and they heard me with very little background noise. The ANC for me was very good, it kept out the barbell sounds. I was able to go thru a leg day and cardio, and the battery was still doing great. I did not start out using the Sony app, these would well out of the box, These are very much on the high and for prices, so this is an investment. I really do love mine, so you should give them a try

The Best With Features little known before buying.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Airpods Pro but they were like 2 1/2 years old, so the sound had become terrible. I found this on YouTube reviews and decided to give them a try instead of getting again Airpods. I love it since the moment I listen how great this sound. In my opinion, this sound way better than the Airpods I had. After navigating the app, I found features that I did not know before buying but get to know when watching reviews. If I had known this, I would had bought it without thinking twice. If you are listening to music and start talking, it will automatically pause the music and enter Ambien Sound almost immediately so you can start or listen a conversation without having to touch the earbuds or your phone. It also learns when you are moving to a different place and choose between noise cancellation or ambien sound depending on what you have used before in that exact location. You can also reject or accept calls by simply moving your head with a no or yes movement. You also get the hour announced, weather, and more when you put them on but you need to adjust this in a different app. This earbuds are so confortably that I don’t feel they will fall off or cause pain after using them for a long time. Battery is amazing, I have neved get them below 50 percent while using them and if you drain the battery, 3 minutes of charge will give you 1 hour. I went with the silver color because the glossy black seems like a cheap plastic and also, I read that the case shows your fingerprint. Scratches or dirt will be more noticeable on the silver but I like them more. I recommend you get a case for this as soon as you buy them because the case is some kind of soft material. That makes me believe that it will get dirty or scracth easily and might not come off even if you clean it. I bought one on Amazon for like 8 dollars so is cheap but a must have. The material of the case is like one inside the case where you put your glasses in. The sound is great, I like music with bass and I am loving this. This also read notifications of a few common apps like iMessages, Messenger, Gmail, etc. I highly recommend them and I hope they last because this is not cheap. I will update if any issue comes up.

Posted .Hi REDcruz, We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your WF-1000XM5 earbuds. We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, make sure the noise canceling function is turned on. Also, if the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performance. In these cases, Hold and rotate the headset unit with your thumb, index, and middle finger to adjust the headset to fit your ear.
After putting the headset unit into your ear, hold the side of the headset unit with your fingers and slowly push the earbud tip into your ear canal. If you touch the touch sensor, the headset may operate.
If you feel it is difficult to put the earbud tips into your ears, squeeze the earbud tips lightly before wearing the headset.

Great audio quality, mediocre multipoint
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Audio quality and ANC is excellent, and battery life has been pretty good. The bluetooth connection reliability is spotty, and multipoint seems to be almost non-functional. I constantly have to put them in the case and then pull them back out to get them to reconnect, or manually disconnect/connect from phone settings to make the switch to between my personal and work phones. Also, they take a bit of messing with to get them to drop in to the case in right orientation if you're not focused on putting them away.

XM5 For the Win!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m getting right to the point, these buds are hands down best sounding buds I’ve used to date. I own XM4 & Apple AirPod Pros ( gen 2) they’re good , but these XM5’s are @ another whole level.. Sound, ANC, fit, function all Awesome. App is easy to use, customize & there are a bunch of options to get these XM5 to your liken. I used stock foams that came on Bud with no issue what so ever. A product worth its hype and price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are absolutely brilliant. Sony has a hand and leg in everything: making films, cameras, music and other everyday technologies. These prove that Sony is ahead of the game when it comes to music quality, quality materials and comfort. They know what listeners want, a superb listening product without sacrificing battery, sound and looks. Bass is absolutely deep and amazing, as well as treble, mids and everything in between. If the stock listening profile isn’t to your taste then it’s easily customizable in the app that carries on throughout the listening experience even when you close the app. The price is worth it because you are getting a clean, rich and deep listening experience. You can’t beat the amazing battery life on the buds and charging case itself, if you’re a traveler, hiker, gym goer or even just a stay at home person, these should be your go to. You won’t regret it

Best in class earbuds
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds offer exceptional sound quality, delivering rich and immersive audio across various genres. With powerful bass and clear highs, they provide an enjoyable listening experience. Connectivity is reliable, thanks to Bluetooth 5.2, ensuring stable connections with minimal dropouts. The LDAC codec support further enhances audio transmission quality for compatible devices. Battery life is impressive, providing up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge, with an additional 24 hours provided by the charging case. Quick charging capabilities also come in handy, offering 60 minutes of playback with just 10 minutes of charging. Overall, the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds excel in sound quality, connectivity, and battery life, making them a top choice for wireless audio enthusiasts. However, their relatively high price may be a deterrent for some buyers.

Sony WF-1000XM5 outstanding in every way.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF-1000XM5 are outstanding for people invested in great quality earbuds. The case can be charged through USB as well as wireless which is a great convenient feature. They’re smaller and lighter than their predecessor and in my opinion, much more comfortable to wear. They support Bluetooth 5.3 and SBC, AAC, and of course, the high quality LDAc codec. I’m an IPhone user and not able to take advantage of all the features available but that not withstanding, the Sony WF-1000XM5 are extremely friendly to the Apple ecosystem. I bought them for their noise-canceling performance which is superior, not by much, to the Bose Quiet Comfort ll and leaves the AirPods Pro 2 in the dust. Their sound quality is superb and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity is worth the steep price tag. Battery-wise, the WF-1000XM5 are rated for 8 hours of continuous play, and 24 hours of I include the case. For me they last 10 hours and 5 minutes on a single charge and I couldn’t be happier. They have a waterproof rating of IPX4 which is fine with me . Overall, excellent product for active people who enjoy great quality earbuds at a great price.

Compact package / Good sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first pair of Sony earbuds so only comparison is to other brands. The charging case: I like that it is small enough to easily carry in a front pocket, but it can take some digging around to find it if tossed in a backpack/computer bag. I haven’t used buds with foam tips in years. These came with 5 sets. I had to go to the largest set and was able to get a good seal that stayed in the right ear, but not in the left. It would initially seal but lose it in a couple minutes and I’d have to twist and wiggle it back in. Maybe I need an extra large cushion for that ear if available I’ve used these at work and easily make it through a busy day with multiple conference calls and listening to music while working on a project. I found the sound quality to be good, with a balance of highs and lows. Playing with the equalizer settings in the app gave them a little more bass, but I’m sure some would find them lacking in the deep end of the spectrum. The noise canceling was good in the work environment and no issues with sound from the mic. I also had the chance to use them in a flight and I just don’t think earbuds will ever have enough noise canceling for me. I had to turn the volume all the way up for the movie I was watching on my iPad. I don’t have this issue with over the ear headphones. Overall I think the build quality on these earbud are great and they sound good as well. I’d recommend them for those who know their ears don’t require larger tips to be sure they can get a good seal in both ears.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely the best ear pods I've owned since High school and I'm 27 now. The only gripe I have is the case maybe needing something like Velcro, so if you drop by accident, your headphones won't go in two different directions. It's definitely scary losing these at the price point they're at. Connectivity is also very nice, as soon as you put them in your ear it's paired immediately (As long as BT is active that is) . As far as the battery, it lasts quite a bit through my work shift which is about 8:30am-5:30pm. I've noticed that the Left earpod usually drains faster for some reason, but that's just something to stay aware of. Other than that the charging is also relatively fast as well, the feature to have noise cancelling and ambient sound makes thing pretty cool and it works very nicely. Talking through the earpods also seem to work very well, no one really has trouble hearing me unless I'm quiet on my end because I'm soft spoken sometimes. So like I said, this is by far my favorite pair that I have owned in my history of buying earpods. I was looking for headphones at the time and got pretty much sold into getting these and I honestly do not regret my purchase and I hope the same goes to you!!
