    Not better than the Jabra 10 elite. But since they keep discontinuing their products. It’ll have to do. I guess !

    I bought these on friday from Best Buy brand new at full price. Was very dissapointed by the noise cancelling aspect of these ear buds. On the app, when you toggle the noise canceling mode on or off, it hardly makes a difference. I then played a you tube video of airplane noise and tried the ear buds, I could still hear the noise come through. I then switched to my samsung buds pro 2 and was shocked at the difference. Almost night and day. This is even after I updated to the latest firmware on the Sony buds. Very dissapointed. And I saw several youtube reviews saying this is the best in class. Will be returning mine back to best buy

    The buds are simply too big for most people's ears. Besides the bulky size, the noise cancelling did not meet the hype. Bose QC 2 is much better and, to a lesser degree the newly released Jabra Elite 8. If you simply want Sony buds, just get the Linkbuds S - they fit better, have comparable noise cancelling and are cheaper.

      If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performance. If any of this is the case, try the following.

      -Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.
      -The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.
      -Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible. You may also find this link helpful:

      Hi NathanL, Thanks for sharing your feedback. We apologize if your ears hurt when using the earbuds. The WF1000XM5 comes with 4 earbud tips (SS/S/M/L).The M-sized earbud tips come attached to the left and right headset units at the time of purchase.

      If you feel the size of the earbud tips does not fit of large enough to hurt your ears, you can change the earbud tips. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.     Terrible sound

    I wanted to love these, as I love my over ear wh-1000xm4. But no matter what I did, the sound quality on these were plain awful. Muddled, tinny, and soft all at the same time. Absolutely no bass, no eq settings fixed it. I don't know if I had a defective pair or what, but I returned these before I ever left the store parking lot.

    Got new eartips because the foam ones are hot garbage and after that they work fine but the fit isnt amazing

    I wanted to love these earbuds. For music, listening, they're great. For calls, they're absolutely awful - to the point that if there is even a small amount of background noise, folks on the other end can't hear you. Something is fundamentally broken in how the mics try to mute background noise. Mine are getting returned. If you need to do calls, look elsewhere.

    The sound for music was not good. They feel and look really cheaply made. There’s a background noise when theres not supposed to be any. Plus they try to get you to purchase some extra software for them. I ended returning them for iPods pro 2 which are much better

    Yep, Sony did it again. Of all my different brands of earbuds, I’ve always reached for Sony when I want to escape into my music and the WF-1000XM5’s are their best yet when it comes to sound quality & noise cancelling. For starters, right out of the box, they paired quickly & fit securely. I tried them in different environments over the last week & I’m amazed by the high level of noise cancelling. Sony’s processors combined with 6 microphones really shut down the outside world. I already had the Sony Headphones App & highly recommend it for max enjoyment. It has so many features, but I primarily use the equalizer, adaptive sound control & it to set my general preferences. Although these buds are great for everyday use (phone calls, podcasts, and they’re even water/sweat resistant for workouts) I enjoy them the most when I want full immersion into my music. Sony’s driver unit (Dynamic Driver X) puts out crisp clear sound & vocals with low distortion. I like heavy bass, and Sony buds have always been the finest. These buds are no exception. The equalizer in the App has a max bass boost setting or you can adjust to fit your taste. The tap controls on the outside of the buds are very sensitive. I barely have to touch them to switch between noise cancelling & ambient sound, or play/pause/forward, etc.. Battery life is excellent. With the case Sony lists 24 hours of battery life. I’ve used them an entire week without having to recharge them. Overall, these are 5 star high quality buds that truly shine. Sony should be proud.

      For fit concern, the WF-1000XM5 features an improved glossy texture and a more luxurious feel, these earbuds fit comfortably in your ears while keeping out external sounds. Our WF-1000XM5 earbuds feature a shape that perfectly matches the human ear with an ergonomic design for a more stable fit.

      To ensure optimal performance, as well as to obtain the best fit and prevent the headset from falling out, change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. If you feel earbud tips are difficult to put into your ears, change the size of earbud tips or squeeze earbud tips lightly before wearing the headset. When wearing them, gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

    Purchased as Christmas gift. Case / charger failed by June. Should be covered under warranty but Sony will not honor their warranty. Many similar cases in chat forums. Research it. Can not recommend
