The tips are a polyurethane foam/silicone hybrid designed for the best ANC seal and, as consumables, they do wear down over time.
For official Sony replacement tips (EP-NI1000 series), we recommend checking authorized online retailers or using the dedicated WF-1000XM5 replacement tips request form on the Sony Support site.

To achieve the best fit, make sure that you are wearing the headphones properly. Put the headset units into both ears. Put the headset unit with the (left) mark into your left ear and the headset unit with the (right) mark into your right ear. The left headset unit has a tactile dot. Adjust the fit of the headset to your ears. Twist the headset unit to fit it snugly into the ear canal, and adjust the positioning of the headset unit until it fits comfortably. Wait for about 10 seconds for the earbud tip shape to stabilize.
Hint: If you feel earbud tips are difficult to put into your ears, change the size of earbud tips or squeeze earbud tips lightly before wearing the headset.
You may also find these steps helpful:
-Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.
-The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.
-Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.

However, not a downgrade either. My xm4 was starting to not hold a full charge, and i needed a new pair. The Sony music app held my settings, so setup was easy. Om not a fan of 360 audio or any of that so eq is all i need to get set up personally .the pass through voice festure is a grest piece of tech and does a grest job telling voices from noise in most environments.

Great in ear headphones

The only negative he has is that he loses them sometimes because they are small…… but that isn’t Sonys fault

Good - But Not Great or Worth an Upgrade

Their design is sleek, slim, and smooth. I not a fan of how they fit and I did have the XM4's before this, which in my opinion were better. I don't believe they're sealing very good with my ears, which is reducing the effectiveness of the ANC. They do have good sound to them though, but I don't believe most people would hear a difference between the XM4 and XM5.

For optimum performance, make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app).
If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performance. If any of this is the case, try the following.
-Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different.
-The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.
-Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.
