Extraordinary sound options for all musical tastes. For my taste the base is perfect. Fit is also extremely comfortable for long movies or concerts. There's a learning curve to fully appreciate and try all that they can do. Be patient. Pairs extremely well with my lg V60 phone both wired and wireless. Also pairs well with Samsung Q80T TV. (must download app and follow the instructions!) LOVE auto shut off when you remove them and pick up right where you left off when put back on! Can also be customized to your own ears. Worth the money! You will have these a long time!

These are ears down the best headphones I've ever had. Over the years I have had all sorts of brands including Beats and Sony, mostly on ear versions. Over the ear is clearly better and where these win are with comfort and battery life. The battery is long lasting and the comfort to match. The ability to connect to two bluetooth items is another winning play in my book.

These headphones are great! They do a very effective job of reducing/eliminating background noise. They are so effective that when I take them off and you hear the hum of the AC or the whoosh of the air moving, it sounds loud! You get used to the dead quiet very quickly when these are on. It can be so quiet that it may cause some people discomfort, so it's nice that there are adjustments available to allow some amount of ambient noise in. They also pair very easily with multiple devices (I have mine paired with a Mac laptop, a Windows laptop, my phone and an Android tablet). There are tons of reviews on youtube and other places online that go into way more detail that I could in this small area, so check those out, but the take away from all of those other reviews is these are some of the best, if not the best sound cancelling consumer grade headphones. I have to agree with that after testing (and buying) a number of others. I've found these to be pretty comfortable to wear for all day conference calls and the audio quality is great for music and voice. The carrying case is a really important feature for me since it protects the headphones in my backpack when I'm traveling. Overall I'm extremely happy with these and would buy them again if I lost or damaged them.

I have always been a big fan of the Beats Headphones and Bose Sound Link series. I own both of them: beats on-ear and Bose around-the-ear headphones. My ears feel a lot more comfortable with the over-the-ear style headphone. I was looking for a new headphone option when I found the Sony WH1000XM4 series. I was instantly captured! The sound is incredible! The noise-canceling feature is perfect, in my opinion. The app you use with this headphone is something else, and so many settings can be used to tweak your sound. I wanted to use these headphones while walking and hiking, but I would not recommend them if you are a person who sweats. The headphone does not like moisture. The instructions that come with the headphones go deeper into the subject. I did it anyway. I will not do it again. I am very satisfied and pleased with my purchase. This is one happy customer!! I love them!

Great audio quality. Comfortable to wear while working at my desk

I have been using the Sony-WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones in Midnight Blue for 3 months now. I bought these originally to help with flying anxiety and they served that purpose well but I didn't expect how much I would use them beyond that. I now use them in conjunction with my earpods for mobile listening, swapping between the two depending on the situation. Overall These headphones are amazing. I am very happy with the sound quality. Soundwise gives me everything I want and you can adjust things like the bass in the sony headphones app. The app works well enough and allows you to set the devices your headphones connect to (can have 2 connected simultaneously). The noise canceling performs best on constant sounds (which I think is where all noise canceling functions best). Additionally the sound pass through feature I have found to work as promised. The physical feel and interface is great as well and I love that is has the functions that work with my iphone/ipad such as double tapping the right headphone to pause/play. The headphones fold up nicely into a carrying case that is protective and works great for me carrying these in a backpack.

I travel a lot for work, on various transportation modes. These help to identify eqch scenario and cancel the background noise effevtively. I can do it either via the headphones on the side, or through the easy to use app. I made it through three separate airports with half a battery to spare on a recent trip north. I was also able to walk and talk via my phone with them on too, and had no complaints from the other end about background noise or static. I don’t use these at a PC for gaming since they’re bluetooth/nfc (they’re not meant for high speed gaming!), but they do connect to a pc as well as a tablet very easily, and the music / spoken word sounds great there, too. Good bit of kit for a traveler or wfh type user.

These are hands down the best headphones I've ever had. The sound amazing, they are comfortable, and best of all because the XM6s are out these are at a perfect price.

Its a good product. I ended up returning simply because I don't think they are worth the money. Full price 300 on sale 250. Its a lot for a product i wont use every day and a product that has a lot of reviews complaining about the hinges breaking and sony not doing anything for their costumers. I bought the xm4 and the xb910n together and honestly the xm4 are better. The anc is a bit better. The sound is more balanced and they have speak to chat and a sensor that pauses the music whe you take them off. The xb910n are missing these features. And they are not as balanced soundwise like the xm4. But. I paid 120 dollars (sale price) for the xb910n vs 250 to 300. I couldn't justify the price and the anc on the xb910n is not bad. The sound is good once you play with the EQ a bit, the battery life is better than the xm4s and the codecs supported by the xb910n are exactly the same as the xm4 so hi res audio is possible to be listened to on both. I am a musician so i care how well music sounds. But i dont consider myself an audiophile. I hope this is helpful. I enjoy tech but i tend to be a little frugal and i also dont find important if someone notices if im wearing a 250 dollars headphones or 150 dollar headphones as long as i get what im looking for. Having to share an office while working at home has been a real struggle. We both are in different zoom meetings all day and it was very hard to focus on my own meetings with all the talking behind me. I splurged on these and it was instantly like entering a personal soundspace. I can even have meetings while the gardener is working outside. It’s not that you can’t hear any ambient noise, it just sound muffled and far away. There’s a great feature that you can pair with two devices at the same time. It makes it easy to quickly switch back and forth between work meetings and other media. The sound quality is fantastic too. The best sound quality of any headphones I’ve ever owned. Also, my coworkers say my voice is clear in meetings and with noticeably better sound quality than my other headphones. They are comfortable, but I wear glasses and like all headphones can get uncomfortable after several hours of wearing them with glasses. The battery life is very good too. I’ve never run out of power even after a long day of meetings. They seem to charge fairly quickly too.

This is the best headphone I have ever tried on. I had used Bose, Studio Headset, and many more, but this one is super comfortable, has best noise cancelling feature, best sound quality. Likewise, you can connect to two devices (what more do you want :)). And of course, it has the long lasting battery. . So, this headphone truly deserves 5 star !!! If you have enough budget, go for it.

[Employee of bestbuy] I've been planning to buy a pair of Sony 1000X headphones since the original MDR-1000X came out, and I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a pair of 1000X-M4s on Black Friday. I knew they were good headphones—I've always known they're great headphones—but they STILL exceeded my expectations. They're comfortable. They have excellent noise cancellation. And the audio quality, especially on the high end (vocals, snares) are HANDS DOWN the best I've ever heard. I genuinely couldn't believe how crisp and smooth the audio is. They're feature rich, especially with the companion app. I'm not the biggest fan of the touch controls, but that also might just be something I need to adjust to. Seriously, buy these headphones. You will not regret it.

I have been a sennheiser fan for a very long time and have owned each momentum model (wired and wireless) and have tried many other brands of wireless and found few that match sennheiser. This review is about Sony, so I decided to try something different and ordered the XM4. They are great noise cancelling headphones, great features, very comfy and nice looking. I fired them up and was surprised at the lack of clarity, crispness and sound stage. I tried to eq them and they sounded a little better. So they impress me as great noise cancelling headphones that can sound OK and have solid build and great features. There are a safe bet if you fly a lot and need maximum ANC, but the Bose 700 offer equal ANC and sound much cleaner with nice bass. There is something magical about the sennheiser sound that makes you want to listen to music when you should be doing something else or asleep. I am an old guy but like good rap and the bass on the m3 is perfect, rock the same, the richness of the sound and the majestic sound stage are just a cut above any other ANC headphone I've listened too and I've tried them all. The Sony m4 is a excellent noise cancelling headphone with great features and comfortable fit for a fair price, but if you really like music, give the momentum 3 a spin, you won't be sorry because they will take you a happy place that will make you a more content person, I promise.

The Good: I bought the Sony XM4 headphones as an upgrade to replace my Skullcandy Crusher Wireless headphones. The Crushers are solid, long battery life, and sound really nice, but in terms of audio quality, there is a noticeable improvement in these Sony headphones. The clarity of individual notes or beats (I've noticed drum beats/cymbals and electric bass guitars in particular) is excellent in the XM4. If you like metal or orchestral music in particular, these are great for helping you hear all of the instruments and their effects. Where the XM4's are really impressive, and are marketed as such, is the noise cancellation. When using the active noise cancellation (ANC), all I hear is what's playing in the speakers, a person two feet from me speaking right to me is inaudible; it's great for really focusing on what you want to hear. Also, the impact on battery usage is not bad at all (you really do get about 30 hours per charge with ANC on, the Crushers got 40 hours per charge but have no ANC). Something new to me with the XM4 is the ability to connect to 2 devices at once with Bluetooth, so they connect to my phone and my computer and are smart enough to know which one should be the priority at any given time. This is pretty handy since you really cannot hear anything else nearby with the ANC on. The Bad: Now if they're as great as I've said above (and they are), why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, the XM4 in my hands seems to have issues with skipping when connected only to my computer if I am playing streaming audio rather than something off the hard drive. Yes, I have switched the priority to 'stable connection' and that doesn't do it. The XM4 only really works as intended (for me at least) when I put the Sony app on the phone and have the phone on and within range of the XM4 even if the only audio I'm using is on the computer (and the app cannot be installed on a computer). At that point, there are no skips and everything is beautiful. I don't think you should have to be stuck with the phone as an intermediary; the headphones should perform properly without the app and with only the computer, but maybe it's just me. My Crushers have never had that kind of problem, I don't feel that the XM4's should either. The Bottomline: All things said, the XM4's are excellent headphones that once you have them set up you will probably be very happy with them, especially if you are upgrading over your current headphones.
