The audio quality is good and the extra features are pretty convenient, though I turned off the automatic switching between the noise cancelling and other features. The hinges seem to be aluminum, instead of aluminum and plastic like other cheaper head phones (though I’m not 100% sure since I can’t see the hinge entirely). But for now it seems like a solid head set.

Better than my comparably priced Bose headphones! These Sony headphones have slightly less effective active noise cancellation than Bose QC35 II. However, the audio quality of these Sony headphones blows away the Bose QC 35 II. These Sony headphones, are by far, my favorite headphones. Highly recommended, despite being expensive. They're simply worth it!

Just a tiny less comfortable. Both slide on my head when I bend over. Seems like all over ear headphones are for large heads. I’m a normal sized woman. If you’re deciding between Bose 35II or these, I recommend these. Many more selectable options such as equalizer. I really like the volume control swipe up or down on right ear.

Great, Connection takes longer than necessary

There's been a few awkward moments where I immediately play my music or podcast and they haven't actually connected.

We sincerely apologize for the brief but awkward delay between the "Bluetooth connected" voice prompt and the actual functional pairing. That moment where you immediately start your audio only to have nothing play is certainly frustrating, as we aim for a completely seamless experience.
This behavior can sometimes be related to how quickly the source device (phone/laptop) completes its handshake with the headphones. To potentially smooth this out, have you tried these two steps?
Please ensure your headphones are running the latest firmware via the Sony | Headphones Connect App. We frequently issue updates that improve connection reliability and speed.
Sometimes, temporarily removing the XM4s from your device's Bluetooth list ("Forget Device") and then re-pairing them can reset the connection profile for faster linking.
