If you have any doubt about the quality of the noise cancellation technology, just drop it. It will block just about everything out. Blaring TVs, voices, engine rumbles, etc. Now, I'm just wondering if I need the Geek Squad on these. Bluetooth technology still isn't perfect and who knows if it'll crap out in two years./

The only issues I have with them is sometimes the headphones randomly disconnect for about 1 second. It has improved though with software updates through the app though. Comfort wise I would say it is pretty average, I do not usually like to wear them for hours on end like other headsets. That might be because i'm not used to the weight yet as I usually have lighter headphones on.

Would not have purchased had I realized newer model removed features of older model I had.

We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues when switching between two audio sources using the multipoint function. When using a multipoint connection, we recommend to download the Sony Sound Connect app on one of the devices and make sure it has the latest update. Check with the Sony Sound Connect app that the setting of [Connect to 2 devices simultaneously] is on. (Confirm that both devices are connected in the Device Currently Being Connected section of the app)
• Multipoint connection works with only two devices at a time.
- A third device can be connected through Bluetooth, however, the Bluetooth connection with the last device that played music will stay connected and the second device will be disconnected in order for the third device to establish the Bluetooth connection with the headphones.
• If you want to play music from the other device, stop playback on the device that is playing the music, and start playback by operating the other device.
Even if you start playback by operating the second device while playing music on the first device, the music from the first device will continue to be heard via the headset. In this state, if you stop playback on the first device, you can listen to music from the second device via the headset.

Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the WH1000XM4. We're glad that you like the sound quality and noise canceling function of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are experiencing connectivity issues.
For optimum performance, make sure to update the software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app). You may also find these steps helpful:
-Set the headset to “Priority on stable connection” mode using the Sony Headphones Connect app.
-Remove any obstacles between the antenna of the connecting Bluetooth device and the built-in antenna of the headset.
-Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
>When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device. In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
>When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device.
>In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
>Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train.

Resetting and initializing the headset may also help resolve those issues:
Resetting the headset
-Press both the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.
If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize the headset to restore factory settings.
Initializing the headset
-Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times, and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

Tons of features and adjustability. With multiple levels of active noise cancellation. Wish I would’ve bought these sooner!
