Decent but not great

These are massively overpriced. Semi-decent noise control, but not very effective. The noise cancelling is unequal between the right and left side, which makes it feel like one of my ears is plugged up somehow. The app is useful only in that I could tell it to stop switching to ambient sound every time I stood up- that was obnoxious. So, okay but far too pricey at full price for what I received. Skullcandy was far better imo

We take customer feedback seriously and what you've described, particularly the imbalance in noise canceling between the right and left earcups, is something we'd like to help you with. That definitely isn't the experience we want for our customers.
A good first step to address that uneven noise canceling is to try the "NC Optimizer" function in the Sony | Sound Connect app. It's designed to optimize the noise canceling based on your head shape, hairstyle and even whether you're wearing glasses. Just put the headphones on, open the app, and look for the 'NC Optimizer' option. It should only take a minute or two to run.
If that doesn't solve it, sometimes a quick reset can help with these kinds of issues. To reset your WH-1000XM4 headphones, please follow the instructions on this link: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm4/v1/en/contents/TP0002752743.html

Comfortable and High Quality but lacks Bass

Noise canceling is really good to the point that I won’t even notice if someone is talking right next to me. Bluetooth works perfect with my iPhone. I bought these to use for recording music and must admit that the bass response isn’t the best. For this reason I took off a star.

If you haven't yet, please download the Sony Headphones Connect app as it includes all sorts of tools which can be customized to fine-tune your music. There is even an EQ for bass and treble sound. The only issue I have is they don't work well with Samsung Televisions. When you get them connected with a Samsung TV they sound fine but after a few minutes the audio starts breaking up and sounding garbled. This is a known issue that's been going on far to long and needs to be fixed.

Posted .Hi JeniGilbert80, While we are glad to hear that you are happy with the sound quality of your new WH-1000XM4, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing discomfort after using the headphones for a long period of time. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.
