This is not the usual case with our XM4. We recommend to try and adjust the headband of your XM4 to the desired fit but it will not hurt your head or ears. They are very comfortable and can be worn for a long time without discomfort and the mic works great for my Team meetings. The controls are easy to use, and connectivity has never been an issue. A bit pricey, but you do get a quality product. Highly recommend
