    Power off. Defective out of the box

    Junk. Only used a few times and they will just say "power off" in middle of song. Device says its fully charged. And after I just charged it from mains. I use multiple BT devices with my phone. This is the first BT device that is defective out of the box. Only good thing is they failed right away so I can return. And now I see Bestbuy has a miserable return policy of only 15 days. I will never buy anything electronic from them again. Costco/Amazon stand by their products with much better warranties. I guess I'll count myself lucky that they failed quickly. I can't imagine having to deal with Sony service. Japanese companies are the absolute worse to get repairs done. I'm going to stick with Sennheiser. They have much better quality control. I know, used to work for them.

    Problems connecting to PC

    The sound is amazing and the noise cancelling is just ok. The big problem is that these headphones will not stay connected to a PC. A quick google search shows that this has been an ongoing problem for years. I will be returning these.

    No Windows Support... :(

    I've scoured through hours of reviews and why these have better reviews for Android and Ios. They have no support on Windows 10. Which unfortunately is why I'm going to have to go with a different brand. It sucks but Sony needs a Windows 10 app. I use headphones on my PC and need ANC to block stuff out.

      If you are having issues connecting the headphones to your Windows computer, make sure to install the latest software version (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) to resolve the issue.



      The headphones may have been connected to the computer through Low Energy (LE) communication mode. This usually occurs when the headphones are paired without pressing the Power button for seven seconds and may result in the headphones not pairing to the computer or the computer not having sound.



      To resolve the issue, make sure to press the Power button on the headphones for seven seconds to put the headphones in pairing mode before you pair the headphones with the computer.



      After the headphones are in pairing mode, both WH-1000XM4 and LE_WH-1000XM4 appear on the computer screen. LE_WH-1000XM4 may appear first, and then a few seconds later WH-1000XM4 will appear. Wait for the WH-1000XM4 to appear on the computer screen and select it.



      Note: It may take up to one minute before WH-1000XM4 appears.

    Headphone stopped charging after 6 months

    I purchased my pair in October 2024 and they stopped charging in May 2025. The charging indicator light comes on when theyre plugged in but regardless of how long they charge, the battery remains at 10%

    Be better sony!

    You have to download an app so the headphones dont automatically turn off when you speak. Ive downloaded the app 3 times now because he keeps reverting to interrupt music when someone is speaking. So frustrating! I dont want your app! I dont want to agree to terms of service that I dont fully understand. Be better sony!

    I would not give a 1 star had there been an option for "0 stars". Not a reliable brand at all. I had a different model of Sony headphones , and it broke by the hinge. Reached out to both US and Japan headquarters about the issue. Received a reply email stating that the Sony engineers agree that there is a defect with the product, but they cannot exchange it because it was out of warranty. If a product has a defect, and company admits it, then why does not matter what the purchase date it. Anyway I highly recommend to stay away from sony headphones in general.

    Do NOT buy these headphones. I purchased 2 of these headphones, one for office and one for home use. BOTH headphones broke from extremely easy use. A small plastic piece breaks along the headphones swivel joint. It is obviously a design flaw. What makes things worse is that Sony refuses to admit that this is a design flaw even though many many people are reporting the same problem. Google it. Shame on you Sony.

    Terrible Quality and Experience 2x Returned

    I bought this model 2 years ago. I've had to return twice bc the bluetooth consistently does not work and shuts off for no reason what so ever. The product is the most inferior option I've ever bought for noise cancelling headphones. Beats and Bose have never disappointed so I will be going back. I went for run yesterday and these decided to not work yet again. They are now floating somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean bc I had it with them. Do not buy anything Sony related for Headphones you will regret. Horrible considering the price and will never buy anything with Sony name.

    Low quality at premium price.

    I really had high hopes for this. For the cost, I'd expect something to last more than 2 years. Shortly after 2-year warranty expired this has started blasting this whistling noise into one of my ears. I've never had a pair of headphones do this. I've owned Audio Technica, Sennheiser, various Sony headphones. The pain was so bad it caused dizziness and was constant throughout the day.

    Terrible build quality

    I bought the WH-1000XM3 headphones from best buy and in less than a 10 months of light usage the plastic housing on the left side came apart at the seam. I call Sony and they told me that is cosmetic and wouldn't honor any warranty service. It is not cosmetic that part holds headrest in so it doesn't come out when adjusting the fit. These headphones have the same plastic housing so be aware.

    Junk. Wasted my money, nothing online that I read stops the cutting on and off. Even the Hardwire connection on this and the MX 2 are not stable. Have to duct tape the cord to the earpiece. Sound quality? If you grew up on mp3 it may sound good to you. Going back to my wired MDR-V600’s.wasted $600 in 4 years.

    Overpriced and terrible for work at home calls.

    The headset sounds fine and the active noise canceling is also good, but nothing special. you can easily get just as good from just about any 260$ pair with ANC. When you buy these you are paying for the Sony name. But the absolute worst use for these headphones is work from home. You can't use them while they are charging and there is no mute button.

    Noise canceling has feedback issue after 15 months

    Used these for 15 months and the Noise canceling went crazy. High pitched squeal/feedback from the left earcup! Make NC unusable. $350 headphones that last for a year! Great job Sony! NEVER PURCHASE YOUR BAND AGAIN!

    After about. A year of working pretty flawlessly, now all of a sudden a very loud, high pitch screech will just blow through one of the side, out of nowhere. Its gonna make me go deaf!!!

    I use them to pair to my phone and then connect to my PC. The connection is constantly bad, and I'm constantly having to restart the headphones and re-pair them to either my PC or iPhone to get a good, non-staticky connection. I spent a lot of money on them, and so far I would have paid twice as much to turn back time and have never owned them.

    These headphones stopped working properly after a week of normal use. Sony told me that there was a known defect, and sent another pair. The second pair is having the same problem, but Sony customer service is unwilling to help. Best Buy was also unwilling to help. Go with Bose.
