Excellent upgrade from XM3's.

New motion detection sensor allows you to pick up music playback after you remove the headphones and put them on again. Noise cancellation is about 40% better, more isolated from environment. The only issues are that the bass is not as deep as the XM3's and the XM4 app is a little different then the XM3 app- the lack of sound position control and sorround (VPT) settings hinders the customization options.

Nearly Perfect Headphones

The only downside to these vs say the Bose QuietComfort headphones is that there isn't a dedicated button to enable bluetooth pairing. You have to turn them off and back on again to enter pairing mode, it's a very weird setup.

When you pair the headset with a device for the first time after you bought it or after you initialized the headset (the headset has no pairing information), the headset enters pairing mode automatically. When you pair a second or subsequent device (the headset has pairing information for other devices), press and hold the (power) button for about 7 seconds. Check that the indicator (blue) repeatedly flashes twice in a row. You will hear the voice guidance say, “Bluetooth pairing”. You may find this link helpful:

The first had lasted a long time despite a lot abuse that had occurred due to a lot of air travel. The first model served me well, as is this purchase. I am getting familiar with the new features on these new headphones.

I work in a very load environment, and can use them during the work. They the best you can possibly get for that purpose, and I have tried few more well known brands the most expensive models. This Sony model is the best as of today 08/2022

I get the hype now

That said, I was concerned about call quality. Every YouTube reviewer I watched did their call quality tests next to generators or they would simulate the loudest coffee shop you could imagine but nobody tested the call quality when you're in a home office or some place quiet. I mean who stands next to a generator to take or make a call? Well, I can tell you the call quality in a regular environment is excellent. I've been using a Plantronics Focus UC headset. These are superior to the Plantronics . There's no comparison. Granted the Plantronics are 3 year old tech but they're designed for calls first and foremost. Finally, you have to go into the app and turn multipoint on. It's set to off by default. The app is rudimentary. It does the job. It can be buggy. I've been using it for months (Sony ear buds). It does everything you need it to do --- the graphics could use some work. If you have problems with the app -- delete it and reinstall. Also, the owners manual on the Sony site is extremely detailed. I solved several (ignorance) problems easily with online resources; I'm glad I bought these. Well worth the retail rice, imo.

True Headphones for a True Audiophile
