Contacted Sony support and they said that this was normal behaviour, but for $350 I'd expect better. They refused to help me, so I returned those and purchased a second pair. I decided to get them again because I hope that I don't run into this problem again. These things are great! I've never had any really premium headphones before, so maybe I'm ignorant, but really, the should out of these is fantastic, the noise cancelling is pretty good, especially in day to day use, and being able to set a custom sound profile is the best. They added multi device support, so you can see listening to something on your computer, and answer a phone call without needing to switch anything, it's all automatic. Tons of features, and for this price point, these are much better than the Bose offerings sound wise. I bought some Bose headphones to compare and these blew those away in every field except the build quality. These have a lightweighr, plastic feel, but you get used to them quick - I stopped noticing after a day or two.

Its spoiled all my other sound systems. Need to put some time into figuring out how to make them comfortable (for me I have to wear them at max extension), while not slipping in the gym (much tighter), and the cushions are maybe a bit thin for super long wearing. Hurts after a few hours.
