Faulty sensor

Please note we have a customer hotline that is happy to assist you and help troubleshoot any concerns you have, and your headphones has a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase. If you still have the unit, please follow the common solutions on the link below if you experience unexpected issues on your headphones.
If any of the following conditions apply, the issue occurs.
The built-in sensor is activated.
• If you remove the headphones or put them back on, this will pause or resume playback. In the factory settings, the built-in proximity sensor in the left unit detects when the headset is worn on or removed from your ears.
• You can disable the wearing detection function. Turn off the Pauses when headphones are taken off setting using the Headphones Connect app.
• Please check the Speak-to-Chat function. The Speak-to-Chat mode activates when it detects the speech of the person wearing the headset and the headset pauses or mutes the music which is being played, but in rare cases it may activate in response to the voices of other people, ambient environmental sounds, transportation announcements, etc.

Noise cancelling is so weak.

Broke after 4 months design flaw.

Sony - WH1000XM5 - Great purchase

Wanted a pair of headphones that would cancel noise and it does so very well. Transparency mode is also real good. No connectivity problems. Great headphone overall. Worth the buy for sure. GREAT battery life. Lasts what seems like for ever. I really only use them for the gym but used them to edit a video and they were great, battery lasts for ever.

My twenty year olds are envious

Sony was my choice over the Apple and Bose. I don’t typically wants something covering my ears but, can barely tell they’re on. The light weight offset phones fit my head & ears great. Sony’s sound quality and noise canceling is amazing. For protection I wear them on the riding mower hearing nothing but my music selection. I will be trying them when I use my chainsaw next.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just upgraded to these from the previous XM3's just because i liked those so much and of course sony hits the spot again with the XM5's. very comfortable, very full sounding, long lasting battery, LDAC support, multi device connection, isolating noice cancelling and more. The highest quality sounding Bluetooth headphones on the market. After using the 3's for almost 2 years, i was already enough of a fanboy to spend MSRP price on these things. Would recommend to enthusiasts who love music and studio quality sounds.

awesome but little comfort
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.+ these headphones are great! the sound quality on it is awesome and the transparency mode/ambient mode is good as well. the connectivity is great across devices. the microphone makes the recorded audio sound like it wasn’t even recorded off the headphones! it also looks very stylish :) - the headphones can get uncomfortable if worn for a long time. i find myself frequently having to take breaks. it’s also not great to wear with glasses; every time i put them on, it feels like it’s squeezing the glasses against my head and causes me to get migraines very easily. overall, these headphones are really nice, but it can get uncomfortable to wear at times.

In the default setting, the headphones use built-in sensors to detect when you wear or remove them and automatically turn the headphones on or off as needed. If you have trouble with the headphones turning off unintentionally, check the following:
When you wear the headphones over a cap, a scarf, or hair, etc., the sensors may not be able to detect that you are wearing them and may turn them off. To avoid this, be sure to set the earpads directly over the ears.
If the wearing detection still bothers you, disable the Automatic Power Off setting. You can do this using the Sony | Headphones Connect app: System → Automatic Power Off, and select Do not turn off.
If the issue is not still resolved, reset the headphones. If the issue still persists, then initialize the headphones. Note: Resetting the headphones will not delete the paring information, while initialization returns the headphones to the factory settings and all Bluetooth pairing information is deleted.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear your discomforts while wearing the headphones. Adjusting the headband and the earpads properly can help reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones. Also, try lowering the volume. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Sony's comeback!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony is hit and miss when it comes to audio (in my book anyways). , but these have destroyed the competition at or slightly above this price point. The packaging is real nice and was a pleasure opening. I have a thing with packaging. No bags, no un-needed junk, just clean and simple well thought out packaging. Comes with a nice pouch as well for traveling. I always charge anything rechargeable right out of the box. Didn't take long and by then I had already downloaded the Sony app. Turned them on and placed them on my head, immediately I was impressed, didn't even have music on yet. I also noticed how light and comfortable they were right away. Almost felt cheap and worried me about how'd they would sound. Although once I put the tunes on I was shocked how great they sounded. Playing with the app I found a option of allowing the noise canceling to turn off once you started talking. Pretty cool feature and worked flawlessly playing around with it. These aren't proof but I put them through the grinder anyway and used them during a rough day of yard work, about 8hrs in the AZ heat. Doing some home yard work, using trimmers, and a chainsaw, I didn't need my ear plugs. These worked great. I was also able to take a few phone calls that sounded excellent on both ends, they couldn't even tell I was doing yard work. The touch controls work flawlessly and if you want to stop the noise canceling for a minute you can just hold your hand over the right muff to deactivate it so you can hear the better half yelling at you that its time for lunch. All in all I love them and they are now my go to headphones. I expect them to last a long time and they are compact enough to travel with. I also love how low key they are, no frills, no bling, they just get the job done. Thanks SONY!!
