Amazing wireless headphones

These are by far the best wireless ANC headphones I've used, blowing the AirPods Max and Bose QC45s out of the water.

Cleaner on the low end brings out more detail in the mids and highs. I had moments of "wow...I never heard that before"...and this is coming from the xm4. I won't say it's massively different than the xm4 (I use the bright eq setting) but it's there. Noise cancelling is impressive. Give it about 2 or 3 seconds to adapt to your surroundings and just listen to the quiet kick in. It's pretty cool. I tested it out with a vacuum cleaner running right next to me. At first the xm4s are full on so you might be fooled in thinking that the 5s are worse but let the xm5s adapt and kick in. Once you do you'll be blown away. Larger case and no fold in doesn't bother me. The case is longer but it's also thinner. All in all I'm happy with these. An IP rating would have been nice but at this point and outside of that I'm not sure how you can make these any better. The 6's will have big shoes to fill.

I’ve owned the Airpods Max in the past and surprisingly enough I like the way the XM5’s sound much better.

Having read your review regarding the low sound level, check the volume on the connected device as well as on the headphones. You may also play different song with different quality to further isolate the issue. High-quality songs will give you louder audio. From there, you can use the Sony sound connect app to adjust the sound to your liking. Make sure to update the firmware of the headphones by performing a software update. Great sound and noise cancellation

I appreciate the ability to turn on transparency mode. I only wish switching between Bluetooth devices was automatic.

Regarding your suggestion for automatic Bluetooth device switching, thank you! We're constantly working to improve our products, and feedback like yours is essential as we develop future enhancements.
In the meantime, you can connect your headset to two devices simultaneously through a multipoint connection, allowing you to switch music playback between devices effortlessly without the need to reconnect via Bluetooth. This means you can enjoy music from one smartphone while remaining available for incoming calls on both devices, enabling you to answer calls as they come in.

Best Headphones Ever, just wish water resistant

I didn't think they were coming until August. My Bose 700 were stolen and so I wound up getting these and have to say, the Sony are better in sound isolation, sound quality using Tidal (3d audio, eq) and they cancel out everything! The hand over the right ear to amplify the outside world for you hear is an amazing touch. I use these for remote working all over town. I'm always in my headphones but can let in people as I want. A blessing for my social anxiety. The only spot that Bose has these beat is on the device switching. This may be a familiarity thing at this point. TBD
