I bought the Sony WH-1000XM5 during the Best Buy Black Friday sale, and they have been a game-changer! The noise cancellation is incredible, completely shutting out background noise whether I’m working, traveling, or just relaxing. The sound quality is rich and immersive, with deep bass and crystal clear details. They are also super comfortable, lightweight and perfect for long listening sessions. Plus, the battery life is amazing, lasting over 30 hours on a single charge. Best Buy’s in-store experience was great, and I am so glad I picked these up. If you are thinking about getting them, just do it—you won’t regret it!

Lightweight. Sleek design. GREAT audio! Good for audio calls. Sometimes disconnects to iPhone and MacBook. Headphones don’t fold so the case is bulky.

Originally, I had the XM2s forever then I passed them on to my son just so I could purchase the XM5s. A major upgrade! These headphones are super comfortable and fit over my big head with no issues. Secondly, the sound quality is incredible along with the Ambient mode. The acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) feels super high-end and provides a unique feel to the headphones even though it's made from recycled plastic. Microphones are great for calls while noise cancellation blocks out background noise well. Although they don't fold like previous iterations, they're lighter than previous versions. I picked them up around Christmas while they were on sale and they're a must-have!

As someone who would consider themselves to be an audiofile, I enjoy these headphones for what they are. The ANC performance is second to none (that I have tried). The price is fair, all things considered. When listening to music critically at home, I use Sennheiser HD 600s, which also happen to be $400. Do the WH-1000XM5s sound as good as the HD 600s? Of course not, but the HD 600s need an amp due to their 300 ohm impedance, they block absolutely zero noise, they leak a considerable amount of noise, they're not wireless, etc. Point is, they aren't particularly convenient or portable. If you need a pair of on-the-go headphones, or ones you can wear while moving around the house (vacuuming, cooking, etc.) the WH-1000XM5s are an excellent choice. The battery life, it should be noted as well, is phenomenal. The sound, while not as good as their wired, open-backed competitors in the same price bracket, is still very good. I found some EQ-ing to be necessary, as they were too bass forward out of the box, however the phone app makes EQ-ing them easy, so no complaints there. Given the excellent ANC and convenience of these headphones, the quality of the sound is appropriate for the price point. I have seen others complain of the "cheap feel" of these headphones, likely referencing the plastic construction and light weight. It seems to me to be an unwarranted criticism, as the ABS they are made of can doubtless withstand far more abuse than I - or any average consumer - will ever put them through and, as it turns out, low weight is desirable for something that's going to be sitting on your head for potentially hours at a time. I would certainly not want these headphones to be made out of metal. On a unique side note, my head - and by extension my ears - are incapable of sweating, so I wear these to the gym since I don't need to worry about the lack of a waterproof rating. They block out the loud ambient noise of the gym exceptionally well.

Great set of headphones for daily wearing. I enjoy the comfort and can wear them for extended periods of time without getting ear fatigue. The sound is incredible when comparing them to my Beats Studio 3s and AirPods Pro. I would strongly recommend these headphones for anyone in the market looking for quality, noise cancelling, and comfort headphones. The battery life is incredible and they are also great for podcasts/movies if you tend to travel frequently. Don’t think just buy them! You won’t be disappointed!

Best headphones for the commuter/traveler. Noise canceling and audio quality is decent. Battery lasts forever and supports fast charging. Not the best is you have a DAC and are into lossless audio but it works. They are very comfortable and even though they don’t fold like older models, and the case is bulky, in my opinion they are a great buy.

I have been a fan of Bose for many years and that goes for their noise reduction headphones as well. That is, I have been a fan up until now. After hearing the WH1000XM5's that has all changed. The sound quality and noise reduction of these headphones in a word "outstanding". The sound is smooth and clear with crisp highs, balanced mids and very solid bass response. You really have to hear them to believe them. The noise reduction is also the best I have ever experienced. The App is also very helpful when it comes to activating all the features these headphones provide. Another very important feature is they are light weight and comfort. I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. Check them out. A very solid product.

These are hands down the best ANC headphones on the market. The sound is great and the Noice Canceling is even better. The app interface is simple and easy to customize the way you want your headphones to sound and operate. I really like the speak-to-chat feature, whenever I need to talk to someone I just talk and the transparency mode turns on and quiets my music so it plays softly in the background. The only downside with it is if I’m humming a song that feature will turn off, however you can permanently turn this feature off in the app if you so choose. The heaphones are comfortable and I find it takes a very long session for my ears to get too hot. But even still the headphones are so comfortable I rarely have fatigue when wearing them. The thing most people don’t bring up is that it has a nice carrying case, the Airpods Max, which this product gets compred to, has almost no carrying case, and I appreciate these headphones having one. The Price tag is a lot, I will admit, when I first bought these headphones my bank account took a hit, that’s for sure. But now after using them for about 3 months, it’s safe to say this was 100% worth the purchase. If you’re unsure about buying these because of the price, wait for there to be a sale, there usually discounted fairly often. This is a must buy if you’re in the market for a new pair of headphones.

I love designs that look sleek and minimal like the Microsoft ones so it was a no brainer when the best anc headphones was redesigned in a similar manner. Sound quality is superb, clean and punchy bass, best for any type of listening. ANC is second to none, cant't wait to try it on a plane trip coming up. Comfort is the best. The earcups cushion are crazy nice and they don't clamp too hard or cause pain even after prolonged listening. The white one feels Abit light but in a very good way. It's almost like soft cardboard, with its own unique elegance

I wasn’t in the market for new headphones, but after 3.5 years, my V-Moda Crossfade 2’s stopped producing sound in the left ear. I used it for gaming, work, music, movies, and at the gym. I used a V-Moda BoomPro mic with it as well for work and gaming. To replace it, I was looking for: -Closed-Back, Over-Ear headphones -3.5mm Jack to be able to use the BoomPro mic -Comfort and design -Sound quality -Durability would be a plus -ANC would be a plus I started my search by comparing the Bose QC45 and the Sony WH-1000XM4. I went to Best Buy to try them on and rest both pairs. The Bose QC45 has a 2.5mm jack, so I would’ve needed a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to use the BoomPro mic. I liked the XM4 design, but read online that others didn’t like the touch controls and would disable it. I wasn’t sold on either. Luckily, the XM5’s were released a few days ago, so I checked reviews and YouTube videos and was sold. I picked these up on 5/25/2022 and am glad I bought these headphones. In comparison to the V-Moda’s I replaced, they are: + More comfortable (Less pressure on head/ears) + Wireless: Better overall sound quality for music, podcasts, movies, and gaming + Wired: The BoomPro mic I use for work and PC/PS5 gaming works well with the XM5’s. No adapters needed. + Sound Quality. They sounded great out of the box, but I changed my EQ settings in the Headphones app to Excited and they sound even better for what I listen to and use it for. + ANC (The Crossfade 2 Wireless didn’t have this feature). I feel like I’ve been missing out this whole time and with the V-Mira’s, I had to increase the volume to drown out noise + No exposed wires (V-Moda’s are. I think this is what eventually caused the left wire to get loose, causing the left ear to not produce sound anymore) — Durability. The XM5’s feel more fragile. I’m hoping I never drop these on accident. The V-Moda’s are sturdier. I’ve dropped those several times throughout the time I owned them on hardwood flooring and concrete — Not foldable. I can deal with it, but this could be a dealbreaker for others — Materials (Specifically the leather padding). They look cheap and look shriveled up after some use. I feel that over time, these are going to crack. I hope I don’t have to deal with it, but I hope they’re replaceable. — No IP rating. I didn’t read too much into it, but the manual shows images to avoid wearing the headphones in the rain and if you’re sweating. If you’re getting these to use for the gym or running, get something else. Overall, I’m satisfied with the XM5’s. I hope I can get more years of use compared to the V-Moda’s to justify the cost of these.

I’ve been using the Sony WH-1000XM5s for a bit now and I seriously love them. The sound is super clean, the bass feels really good, and the noise canceling is actually insane. They’re crazy comfortable too, so I can wear them for hours without even thinking about it. Plus the battery lasts forever and they switch between my devices without me doing anything. Honestly, they just make everything I listen to sound better. I’m really glad I got them.

Great headphones. I love the sound quality & how comfortable they are to wear (even when I have my glasses on!) The app is very cool to use and allows you to customize your listening experience which is super helpful. The battery is incredible. I only have to charge it for a little while and The only reason it’s 4 stars rather than 5 is because the volume doesn’t get as loud as I would like it to.

I bought these because I was looking for a good pair of over-the-ear headphones. I know that Sony is known for its excellent sound quality, too. Let me tell you - these sound phenomenal! The Sound Connect app definitely helps with customizing the perfect sound! The sound drivers in this headset help with all levels of sound. The immersive sound is phenomenal! The battery life is also great! I flew for work this weekend and used the XM5s the whole flight. They were comfortable and the battery life was still at 90%! I highly recommend this headset!

I am coming from Apple AirPods Max. At first I thought this was a mistake, but now that I have used them for over a month, I love this headset. I honestly believe the Automatic Noise Cancelling is the best I have used to include the aforementioned Apple headset. The controls are primarily done on the right ear with swipes. Love that functionality. The battery life is insane. I listen to them in the morning for about 30 minutes for my podcasts and rarely use them on the weekends. After one month the battery was at 60%! I thought the app was wrong. That is crazy battery life. No chance of that happening with the Apple headset. These are comfortable and the only disadvantage is the lack of folding capabilities. Apple didn't have this function either. I got these on sale for $329 which was $150 less than the Apple headset I bought on sale. I am not bashing the Apple headset. It is a fantastic product but for $150 less and battery life that is insane and comfort these were an easy choice for me.

Beautiful low profile design and color. Comfortable, and decent noise cancellation for OTE headphones. The haptic features are great and intuitive. The voice command and auto pause when speaking feature is remarkable. It is boasted to work up to 30 hrs on a single charge. I can gladly say this appears to be accurate.

Ended up exchanging my Apple AirPod Max's for these and man was it worth it. There is no denying that Apple headphones are built impeccably, however after two days of wear I just couldn't get over how heavy they were. I was getting a headache after like an hour of wearing them. I had previously done extensive research on both sets of headphones but ultimately chose Apple for the name and design but for the price point, I just couldn't get over how uncomfortable I found them to be. Once I exchanged them for the Sony XM5s, it was like night and day. I can wear these for hours on end they are so comfortable. I noticed no difference in sound, or noise cancellation in comparison to Apples. The only real difference I noticed was that Apple's transparency mode is def a little stronger, but that was not super important to me. Sure the Sony-XM5s are not built quite as sturdy as Apples, but they are so much more comfortable for long wear, way more customizable in my opinion, and cheaper! The battery life also lasts much longer than Apples. Truly worth the investment in my opinion.
