Great headphones, i had the sony 1000xm4 and i find these to be most comfortable and i love the sound quality of the xm5.

Bought these for working at the office and they do not disappoint. The sound quality and noise canceling are superb for listening to music and podcasts without being disturbed by my surroundings. The dual device connectivity is great because I can swap them over on the fly to use for zoom calls and training videos. I love the sleek and modern design too. Long battery life gets me days of use.

Had I not already owned the Technics EAH-800, I may have said these were the best wireless headphones I've owned. Unfortunately, I already own the Technics EAH-800 and the quirks of the XM5 have become too numerous for me. Some examples: -LDAC is not supported when the XM5 uses multipoint connection. EAH-800 supports LDAC even with multipoint -Touch controls are SENSITIVE. Kind of like the physical buttons on the EAH-800 -Speak to Chat is aggressive and should lower music volume versus stopping it altogether -If you walk away from one of the 2 multipoint connected BT sources, the headphones will not reconnect to the second source automatically like the EAH-800 does when I walk around my office. That being said, this is far more comfortable overall than the EAH-800 and the battery life is just as good. However, I just don't know if I can justify the 50 some dollar difference..

I bought these to replace a much older pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. I was actually going to buy another set of new Bose headphones until I read professional reviews comparing the Sony XM5 to the Bose QuietComfort Ultra. Both are top tier in noise cancelling, sound quality, comfort, and build quality. In every review, however, the Sony XM5's got the edge. I've always been very satisfied with other Sony products I've purchased over the years going all the way back to the 1970's, so I decided to switch teams on this purchase. I have to say, I am definitely very pleased with my choice. Using the Sony Headphones iOS app, I spent some time tweaking the EQ to get the sound to my liking. For me, the magic combination was selecting the Bright option and then bringing the Clear Bass up to +5. That said, with the EQ off right out of the box, these have a nice mellow, even tone that is very pleasing as well and probably closer to audio perfection than my choice. For my older ears, though, my tweaks help me hear my tunes the way I was able to without EQ when I was in my 20's. Last, but not least, I'd like to respond to some of the negative build quality comments I've read. I really have no idea how anyone ends up with broken headphones other than to completely abuse these bad boys. They are solidly built yet very light weight. All products have their limits, of course, but after several months of continuous use, I can't see how any of the components would fail without serious mishandling by the user. So yeah, with over 2,000 five-star reviews do I really need to add one more? No, but when you find something that's worth a positive review, it never hurts to put it out there. Enjoy!

Really happy with the overall quality & design of them. GOOD: -extremely comfortable -quality materials -great battery life -app to customize to your preference of audio & other content featured such as noise cancellation or ambient audio -audio is amazing.. BAD: -case that comes with them doesn’t have anything to secure the section where the charger would be held -case doesn’t feel sturdy however it gets the job done Overall, I have to say that for the price these headphones offer you exactly what you’re looking for.

I had apple airpod pro max for a month and i hated it. It was heavy and kept sliding down ky head when i work out. I returned it and daid next headphones i get will not be heavy. These are very light on my head and they stay put. I like the sound and nosie cancellation. I also like the hold on right ear to hear. Its very sleak design and very good for every day use

These by far are the best orchard I've ever made when it comes to headphones. The noise canceling is great, they are easy to use, and incredibly comfortable. I won't buy another head phone. I personally didn't like the 6 to much but the xm5s just worked great.

Amazing sound quality, top of the line noise cancelling, very comfortable and lightweight. It is a bit hard to recommend at the full $400 price but on sale it is an excellent pair of headphones. My only two complaints are, some of the smart ambient mode features override you when you have it set to ambient turning back to noise cancelling when you don't want it to. As well, be warned that when you hook it up to a computer to try and use it for Discord if you use the microphone and listen at the same time the Bluetooth connection forces the audio and microphone quality to be poor quality so if you want to use it for that purpose get a cheap microphone so it will keep the good audio quality.

I bought these to test out the sound quality. After having them for a couple of days, I will unfortunately be returning them. NOT because it's a bad product, but it's just not what I'm looking for. I will admit, these are the best OVERALL headphones on the market. The design, battery life, functionality, ANC, and transparency mode are all excellent. For that alone I will deeply miss these headphones, I mean, they just feel so good to hold. But, I wasn't looking for an overall great pair of headphones... I want exceptional sound quality. And while these definitely sound good, they're not as good as I would like, even after tweaking the equalizer.

These are hands down the best headphones I've ever owned. I use them every. single. day. For hours on end for everything from poscasts and audiobooks, to any and all genres of music that flow with my eclectic musical tastes. AND they block out the NYC subway and street noise like a champ. Theyre comfortable, the sound quality is impeccable, they get super loud, and the battery life is unparallelled. They are well worth the purchase if you value music and your peace of mind.

Can't say enough about how great these headphones are. The noise cancellation is amazing. The sound is superb. But that's not what I'm here to really talk about. Let's talk about Bluetooth, the key reason you can't use these for gaming in the sense of being able to use the microphone array in place of a dedicated microphone. This all has to do with the limitations of the Bluetooth standard. Bluetooth only gives you two channels to work with. If you're just using the headphones to listen to music, you get stereo. When you pair these headphones with your mobile phone and take phone call, the headphones use one channel for incoming audio (mono) and the other for the mic array to talk to the other party. Maybe in the future Bluetooth will update the standard to have 3 channels so you can actually use these headphones for gaming. You can use these headphone for gaming just like any pair of regular headphones, but you also have to have a separate mic if you want to talk to your fellow gamers. For that I went and bought a Yeti GX ($150). Great microphone for PC gaming. Same thing goes for apps like Discord. Can't use the mics on the headphones and listen through the headphones at the same time. This is why most wireless gaming headphones come with their own USB dongle that uses a different standard than Bluetooth. But I doubt there are any gaming headphones that have the sound quality, NC, and battery life that the XM5s do. So if you're a PC gamer, these headphones will work so long as you have a dedicated mic to handle the communication aspect.

Just got my hands on the Sony XM5 headphones, and they're an absolute game-changer! The sound quality is insane – crisp, clear, and that bass hits just right. The noise-canceling is like stepping into a silent zone. Plus, they're comfy for long listening sessions. Battery life is solid, and the controls are super easy to navigate. Definitely worth every penny – my music has never sounded this good!

Bought the new midnight blue. Very cool! The price was concerning but they are worth it. Awesome sound, good bass and long lasting battery. I wore these on a non-stop flight for 12 hours. Did not get uncomfortable on my head and sound cancellation was great. Even used the aux cord to watch movies on the flight. I would actually rate these 4 1/2 if I could. Some songs I wish I could play just a little louder and fingerprints will show on side touch volume. But still very happy with purchase.

This is the second pair I've purchased, this serving as a Christmas gift for a friend. By far, these headphones are the best consumer grade headphones that I've used. If you're the type of listener that enjoys the "fun mix" (your typical V-shaped equalization), with an emphasis on bass/low end clarity and feel, look no further. Compared to the older XM3s, the noise cancellation seems to be a little weaker in blocking out the lower end rumbling noises like on planes or buses, but excels in blocking out a lot of the nastier, higher pitched/shrilled noises you might hear in your day to day. Loud construction? These will block that. Screeching car brakes? These will block that. Yelling kids? These will block that. Nagging significant other? These will block that, at your own risk. Lastly, the comfort of these things are unmatched. I have a fairly big head. Clamping with a head like mine usually leads to ear fatigue over time. These, along with some of Sony's higher end audiophile offerings, are the only headphones I can wear all day and not experience fatigue. This thing has gone through multiple 8+ hour sessions and have not fatigued me ever. If you're looking for a pair of premium headphones that does an amazing job at blocking out noise AND offering a superb listening experience, it just doesn't get better than this. Nothing else competes.

Excellent quality and design. The bass is pheno.enal and the headphones sit comfortably atop the head.

The lightest and best sounding headphone on the market. The battery life lasts me a week or two of full use before I have to charge them. The quick charge is very clutch when in a pinch. They feel and look great too. I use them for gaming and work calls. Voice is clear and others can hear me very well. Highly recommend!
