XM5 vs MAX

My wife currently has the Max and it is a good headphones but I can definitely say without a doubt the XM5 are the better option sound quality wise noise, cancellation, wise and overall lightness, it won’t bother you for extensive sessions on your head like the AirPod max will

The Built-In Microphones in Both the Earpiece is an Innovative Masterpiece. One Example is, I owned a Pair of XM2 (of the multiple I've owned) for a period of 3Yrs& 2Months. and worked as good ax the Day I bought them. I'm Wheelchair Bound with a Back Pack affixed to the Back of the 'Chair'. Had it Not been for them being STOLEN out of the Back Pack while I was on a Community Transit Bus I WOULD Still have Them. I had taken them off & put in Bk Pk for just a minute due to mechanical Wheel Chair Problem. When after getting off the BUS & Trying to get them, They WERE GONE. NOW, I CAN SAY I'm Glad because I was checking for Headphones again after checking the 4 TOP BRANDS Over and Over SONY WINS 'Hands Down' over ALL Others. SONY Wins in ALL My CK Points, Style, Head and Ear Comfortability, Personal Cosmetic Appearance Value, Multiple Options for Every Imaginable Listening AND Hearing Preferences with the Microphones in the Ear Piece is ABSOLUTE GENIUS. The Pleasantries and Functionality Abound in This Excellent Display of Space Age Technology. Great for working from home.

I work from home and use them for MS Teams calls and the microphone array cannot be beat. I come through clear. Music is incredible with a typical bass forward response of most popular consumer models. However, this also helps with calls as voices are warm and not tinny.

Durable and great battery life

I’ve had them for a while now I carry them with me in my bag for college definitely can take a punch. I have a scrape on mine after a huge impact, but doesn’t affect performance and the battery Life is amazing.

The audio quality out of the box may not be to everyone's liking, but once you fiddle with the EQ, the sound gets much better. I have used it in public transport and the noise cancellation has no issues. The connection to two devices also makes this headphone very useful. The microphone quality is also very good. People have said I sounded more natural and clear than my Airpods pro. There are better sounding headphones, but if you prioritize noise cancellation, then go for this!

Xm5s are better than i thought

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy the color and the sound profile, i upgraded from xm3 and the noise cancelling is noticeably different. the added drivers help the sound be more clear and distinct. bass is stronger but not overwhelmingly so, i just don’t like the fold out method for the 5s, they fold outward looking and sit on my clavicle uncomfortably, i also worry about the hinges since i’ve seen a lot of people mention that, but so far so good. i probably will get the xm6s but the only thing holding me back is the colors. :)

Great for Travel

For long flights, the lightness of these headphones is great. While not as impressive as Sony's flagship earbuds, these headphones are still a good product. Highly recommend for travel.

Good, But Falls Short of Expectations

Despite tweaking bass and range settings, outside sounds still leak through in open environments — even with ANC toggled on in the app. I’ve accepted that this may just be their limit. Connectivity has also been hit or miss, with random Bluetooth dropouts that no amount of troubleshooting (on both phone and computer) seems to fix. Battery life is decent but not impressive for the price. Overall, I expected more. My next purchase will likely be the Apple AirPods Max — I’ve met too many people who rave about their truly phenomenal noise cancellation.

To help improve the performance, we recommend the following steps:
Firmware Update to Version 2.4.1: Please install the latest software to enhance performance and functionality. Detailed instructions are available at the following link:

Sony Supremacy

Also because the XM5 does have some cool features such as the ambience mode, especially the noise-cancelling mode so you can hear your inner demo- I mean, your music. The feel and quality of the headphones is quite sturdy and soft, specifically the thing or part that goes around the ears, it doesnt feel squished or weighted down as much compared to other headphones. So yeah, Sony Supremacy ig.

Read on... Background: I am a bit of an audiophile. Love my IEMs (Sennheiser IE600, Moondrop Variations, Fiio FH9), my DAP (Fiio M11 Plus ESS), and my music service (Tidal). Neat little transportable package, big & meticulous sound. Really wanted to complement that with nice Bluetooth OTE cans with strong noise cancellation, "good enough for me" sound quality, for flights and "Calgon, take me away" moments... My Experience: The first time I listened to the XM5s, my shoulders slumped. I had tried the XM4s a year ago but returned because the sound quality just wasn't there. Not close. Thought "here we go again" with the XM5s: River-mud thump-thump in the bass, recessed and murky mids, and no definition or clarity up top. Warm as a blanket, but unlistenable. So I started tinkering (OK, extensively) with the EQ in the App, trying to get the frequency curve to match my IEMs (all pivoting around the Harman Target). Ah hah! Try this, left to right in the Headphones App EQ: +1, +4, +6, +6, +8, Clear Bass @ 3 (season to taste). Then give yourself a couple of days for driver and brain burn-in. Now: Love these... love. Exactly the complement I wanted, sound beyond what I had hoped for. Turns out the XM5s are some awesome hardware, Sony just destroys the native tuning, and none of the stock EQ profiles come close to correcting that. In this case, EQ isn't a matter of tuning to personal preference rather undoing all the bad decisions. That done, these sound terrific, definitely keepers, and they will get A LOT of use. Hope this is helpful to some...

You can find one that suits you the most and tweak it to your preferences. Changes to the Equalizer only take a few seconds, and reward your effort with pristine sound.
