I've have the new gen airpods pro's and a fresh new pair of wf1000xm4 from sony as a replacement. After having all tried them all, these hand downs are my favorite and hard to put down once there on. Earbuds are cool when needed especially workingout but man these are just great for working from home and just lounging. Get them if you CAN!

Excellent noise cancellation and better mic vs XM4

I use these to sleep at night because of extremely noisey neighbors upstairs. I've regained my sanity! Also, the mic when speaking to someone over the phone really isolates your voice and they do not hear background noise. While walking outside, I had a conversation and the person on the other end could not hear the dogs barking (loudly) in the background. Definite improvement from the XM4 headphones. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is that they do not fold.

Good ANC, Terrible Build Quality

However, the sound quality is a bit lower than I expected. The build quality of these are also absolutely horrendous as they have broken from just sitting on a shelf of an extended period of time.

The headphones definitely shouldn’t be breaking like that, so we recommend reaching out to our service center, Encompass, for a low-cost repair: https://sony.encompass.com/parts-accessories/Sony-Repair-Services
For the sound, you might also want to try adjusting some of the EQ settings in the Sony | Sound Connect app, it can make a big difference depending on what you’re listening to.

Perfect Quality

I compared them with Bose 700s that my co-worker tried swearing up & down was better. Of the 2, yes the Bose are better at music wuality honestly, but for phone calls… Sony all day! Perfect sound quality in and going out, and i even made a call once while vacuuming and the person on the phone with me could not hear my very loud vacuum at all!

While there isn’t an option to directly adjust the sensitivity of the touch controls on the WH-1000XM5, there are some best practices that may help reduce unintended touches:
- Ensure that you are making swipe gestures perpendicular (forward/backward) or parallel (up/down) to the headband, as the angle and direction can impact how the touch sensor interprets your input. Using correct gesture alignment may help avoid accidental activations.
- Be mindful of how you wear the headphones, as the orientation and how snugly they fit can affect the response of the touch sensors.
- When setting the headphones down or adjusting them, try to avoid contact with the touch control panel to minimize unintended input.
