This is written from my personal experiences using this pair of silver XM5s that I have been using daily for over a month. These are the best noise-cancelling headphones I have ever used in the market. Here are my reasons... 1. Comfort. I have tried on numerous pairs - the XM3, XM4, QuietComfort 35, Airpods Max - and I have even owned a pair of XM2 before they finally died on me. This one takes the helm because the earcups were spacious for my large ears and the head part did not rub against my head too harsh like the Bose QuietComfort 700. I also liked how the XM5 clamps less than the XM4 (biggest downside imo) while providing a good seal, making them a great travel companion for long-haul flights or travels. I recently boarded a 10 hr flight, and while they do generate some warmth (as with all over-the-ear headphones) I never felt the urge to take them off because of discomfort. 2. Sound. This one is going to polarize some people. Sound profile is awesome, the new drivers that Sony has put in the XM5 generates a slightly different profile than the XM4. It puts more emphasis on the highs while toning down on the lows, so imagine more clarity but less bass on the audio. Of course, you can always the sound with the Sony Headphones app's equalizer. 3. Microphone. I want to be able to take my calls anywhere without people struggling to hear me, whether I am in my bedroom or outside at a cafe. The additional microphones in the XM5 helps isolate a lot of the background noise while focusing on my voice when I go on Zoom calls or call Google Assistant through the headphones. I have not had any issues with my headphones not picking up my voice clearly. Now there are some caveats with the XM5 that are pretty minor. You cannot fold them like you could with the previous Sony XM headphones. The travel case it comes with is larger because you cannot fold the headphones (I normally keep it out or hanging around my neck when on-the-go). The black version is a fingerprint magnet because it has a rubberized finish while the silver version has a matte finish. Finally the earcups get dirty quickly so you might need to have a pack of wet wipes on hand. Despite all of that, the XM5 has been the most fulfilling and satisfying noise-cancelling headphones I have ever used. It works well with Android and Apple devices (unlike the Airpods Max), and you can connect up to 2 devices simultaneously via multi-point. I would happily buy this again in a heartbeat. Long battery life, USB C charging, and fast charging are nice touches too.

These sound Amazing, have had them over a year now. Love how comfortable they feel, took maintain them new I purchased some silicone cups to cover them so I can use them while I workout. Best headset I've had and I've gone through dozens thus far. Thes battery last me days and I use them for my remote job on Zoom calls.

The good: These are comfortable and i am able to wear them all day. Sound is good. Battery usually lasts me around three work days. (36 hours) It seems they are built sturdier than the XM4. The bad: Expensive Not as comfortable as the XM4 headphones. Noise cancelling is a bit of a let down. Has issues connecting to my PC after updating to Windows 11

I upgraded to the Sony WH-1000XM5 and honestly, I’m so glad I did. The sound is super clean and detailed, way better than what I had before, and the noise canceling is on another level. It blocks out everything, even when I’m on a plane or in a loud room. They’re also way lighter and more comfortable for long use, and the call quality is super clear now. I love how they connect to two devices at once, and the battery lasts forever. Overall, they just feel smoother, smarter, and totally worth the upgrade.

These headphones are awesome. Great sound easy to wear. I wear them when I’m walking usually about 3 to 5 miles and I don’t have to charge them for several days. I love the carry case keeps my charging cord and the cord for airplane use all in one place highly recommend them.

I heard a lot about this headphones being the better than the competition and even being best for some categories. So after many reviews and youtube videos I was convinced to buy it, and believe me they werent wrong. These are one of the best noice cancelling headphones I have used, the noice canceliing, the sound quality, the customization, all the features, they are so much better than most of the headphones. My friends tried them and they liked it so much that all of them bought these headphones. Truly one of the best headphones. Talking about the battery life they last me around 2 days or 1 full day on continuous use with noise cancellation on full to 75% volume. They are also super comfy if you put them on correctly and adjust the band correctly. I use them for 7-8 hours minimum and they are still comfy.

These headphones are of exceptional quality and build. They are light on the head and can be worn for hours without getting an ear ache from the pressure. The touch controls are easy to use and best trying to find a small button on the side. Battery life is no worry. I can use these for multiple days with noise cancelling on and have no worry that they will need charging while I’m listening. The sound is exceptional and the drivers can handle the lowest of notes to the highest. Noise canceling mode offers very little noise bleed although it also depends on the volume you’re listening to music on. Transparency mode works well too.

I loved my wired headphones I had/have. My Great Dane took them out. Both the headphone jack on the compter and the cord. I can't live without headphones and I've been toying with the idea of getting a pair of BT. I do own two pair of BT earbuds that I had used for my phone calls, but they are buds. I put these Sonys on and turned on the NC and....WOW!!! I was amazed on how much noise was just in my house/office. I use them mostly for my computer, which I am at 12 plus hours a day. Sound is great, but not as good as my wired headphones and I love not being tethered to my my computer. They are very comfortable and light weight. I have to take a break now and again from the headphones to let my ears dry out, they get a little hot after awhile. I have gotten use to them now after one month of use. The app on the phone was easy to use once I nosed around and setup my headphones to my taste. Battery life is great, but would like more. I do get at least two days worth, if not three. And they charge fast. Took me a minute to figure out how to charge them. The cable Sony provides is a waste of time, it's literally 3" long UCB A to C. So I dug in my collection of electronic junk box and found myself a old phone charger that met the specs needed. Only problem I had was after an update on the headphones and then an update on the Bluetooth on the computer. The headphones slowly started to do weird stuff and after day of use, they were unusable. So I reset them and also restarted my computer and all has been great since. I have used them a several phone calls and no one had anything bad to say. Only thing I didn't like, was my sound of my own voice, it sounds muffled to me, not the person on the other side. And while we're talking about phone connection. I love the fact I can be connected to both my computer and phone at the same time. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Now if we can get to three or four things. I had planned to set up my old LED TV with a Bluetooth transmitter and use these.

Lightweight. Sleek design. GREAT audio! Good for audio calls. Sometimes disconnects to iPhone and MacBook. Headphones don’t fold so the case is bulky.

Originally, I had the XM2s forever then I passed them on to my son just so I could purchase the XM5s. A major upgrade! These headphones are super comfortable and fit over my big head with no issues. Secondly, the sound quality is incredible along with the Ambient mode. The acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) feels super high-end and provides a unique feel to the headphones even though it's made from recycled plastic. Microphones are great for calls while noise cancellation blocks out background noise well. Although they don't fold like previous iterations, they're lighter than previous versions. I picked them up around Christmas while they were on sale and they're a must-have!

As someone who would consider themselves to be an audiofile, I enjoy these headphones for what they are. The ANC performance is second to none (that I have tried). The price is fair, all things considered. When listening to music critically at home, I use Sennheiser HD 600s, which also happen to be $400. Do the WH-1000XM5s sound as good as the HD 600s? Of course not, but the HD 600s need an amp due to their 300 ohm impedance, they block absolutely zero noise, they leak a considerable amount of noise, they're not wireless, etc. Point is, they aren't particularly convenient or portable. If you need a pair of on-the-go headphones, or ones you can wear while moving around the house (vacuuming, cooking, etc.) the WH-1000XM5s are an excellent choice. The battery life, it should be noted as well, is phenomenal. The sound, while not as good as their wired, open-backed competitors in the same price bracket, is still very good. I found some EQ-ing to be necessary, as they were too bass forward out of the box, however the phone app makes EQ-ing them easy, so no complaints there. Given the excellent ANC and convenience of these headphones, the quality of the sound is appropriate for the price point. I have seen others complain of the "cheap feel" of these headphones, likely referencing the plastic construction and light weight. It seems to me to be an unwarranted criticism, as the ABS they are made of can doubtless withstand far more abuse than I - or any average consumer - will ever put them through and, as it turns out, low weight is desirable for something that's going to be sitting on your head for potentially hours at a time. I would certainly not want these headphones to be made out of metal. On a unique side note, my head - and by extension my ears - are incapable of sweating, so I wear these to the gym since I don't need to worry about the lack of a waterproof rating. They block out the loud ambient noise of the gym exceptionally well.

Great set of headphones for daily wearing. I enjoy the comfort and can wear them for extended periods of time without getting ear fatigue. The sound is incredible when comparing them to my Beats Studio 3s and AirPods Pro. I would strongly recommend these headphones for anyone in the market looking for quality, noise cancelling, and comfort headphones. The battery life is incredible and they are also great for podcasts/movies if you tend to travel frequently. Don’t think just buy them! You won’t be disappointed!

I have been a fan of Bose for many years and that goes for their noise reduction headphones as well. That is, I have been a fan up until now. After hearing the WH1000XM5's that has all changed. The sound quality and noise reduction of these headphones in a word "outstanding". The sound is smooth and clear with crisp highs, balanced mids and very solid bass response. You really have to hear them to believe them. The noise reduction is also the best I have ever experienced. The App is also very helpful when it comes to activating all the features these headphones provide. Another very important feature is they are light weight and comfort. I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. Check them out. A very solid product.

Best headphones for the commuter/traveler. Noise canceling and audio quality is decent. Battery lasts forever and supports fast charging. Not the best is you have a DAC and are into lossless audio but it works. They are very comfortable and even though they don’t fold like older models, and the case is bulky, in my opinion they are a great buy.
