Sony Hit This One Out of the Ballpark!

The comfort is exceptional where you can wear it for several hours on end. I took a 16 hour international flight and a 4 hour connecting flight and had no problem keeping these on nearly the entire time. The light weight makes you want to keep these on your head listening to music. The battery life is also exceptional that I still used them for a 1-2 hours for several days after my trip without recharging. The case is compact enough to fit in my bag that has about 3 inches width. If you're an audiophile, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and cable provided so you can listen to high resolution music without compromise. The only negative is that Sony didn't include a USB-C power adapter to charge these headphones. Newer GaN ones can deliver sufficient current for charging and they're very small.

Great ANC, very comfortable, and good sound qualit

Also very comfortable, I do not usually like/use headphones because they give me headaches, but I have worn these a few hours without issue. The sound quality it also very good, not tiney or washed out at all, also not too bass heavy. If I had to say one negative it would be that they are a little bulky to travel with because they do not fold up. However, they plus side to that is that they feel more durable. Overall, as reflected in the 5 stars, definitely a worth it purschase if you like to listen tk music while working in public and do not want to hear all the noise or if you are traveling.

This is better that QC Ultra.

I tried Bose QC Ultra but I could still hear the idling noise. The XM5 has AI noise cancelling which actually works and I could feel the difference in public transport. Also Bose pays attention to highs and mids more than lows which sounds unpleasently loud to me. I love loud headphones but when they are properly tuned. The XM5 however is not as loud as Bose but because of the outstanding ANC you feel the music more on these. More details and less disturbing noises. Actually when ANC works properly you will get a feeling that these are louder than QC ultras. I had xm4 before these and I can tell the difference in sound is above on XM5

Better than the cheaper Sony models

The ear pieces are fairly comfortable over glasses. Not as cushy as the cheaper Sony models. But they feel like they will hold up better than the cushy style. Noise canceling works well for my application-late night movie watching. The pause feature when you remove the headphones is pretty cool. Wish they could be louder, but that’s probably hearing loss from motorcycles and heavy metal. The headband portion isn’t that comfortable after a while, you have to lossen them up and shift the band or it begins to hurt. I’d take these over the cheaper Sony, but will likely look at ones that can be stupid loud and a bit more comfortable.

Best noise canceling headphones

Solid all around the board

Previously I was using the Bose QC 35s and like these a bit better. Noise canceling is top notch, music is bassy where it needs to be and treble comes through when it does. Battery life is solid. I use mine all day for meetings and listening to spotify and I charge it once every other day or so. Out of the Bose QC line up and the Apple Airpod Pro Maxes this is my favorite, though all three are solid.

First, the noise canceling is unreal. The moment I put them on, the world fades out. Background chatter, engines, and everyday noise just disappear, making them perfect for studying, travel, or winding down after a long day. Sony clearly refined their already top-tier ANC even further with this model. The sound quality is where these really shine. The audio is clean, balanced, and immersive. Bass is deep but controlled, mids are rich, and vocals sound incredibly natural. Whether I’m listening to music, watching videos, or taking calls, everything feels crisp and intentional. The adaptive sound features are smart and genuinely useful, adjusting seamlessly to my environment. Comfort is another huge win. A great set of cans!

Mainly to drown out the sounds of my home and people cutting grass and such while working. These are a great set of cans, as they should be for their price. They aren’t as nicely built as the Bose, but they are fairly light with no fatigue. While I like larger ear cups, they can be a bit distracting at times as I have a small head. The sound quality sounds a bit flat, but if you play with the EQ in the app, they come to life. I still think the x4 earbuds are tremendously better in SQ, but these fit a diff role and seem to be better for calls to me atleast. The battery life is TREMENDOUS to say the least!

The bass is deep and amazing but not artificial or overpowering. I never had any previous sony headphones so i cannot compare it with the xm4 or xm3. The best part i like is that they are so light. Some people with bad reviews have mentioned bad sound quality. In my opinion, either they got a bad unit or they have an issue with their bluetooth connection which is degrading the sound quality. I would highly recommend these headphones.

Exceptional, but not quite a one stop shop

While these are certainly priced at a premium, the sound quality rivals headsets priced significantly more. The app helps to optimize its feature set. Though the fit and finish is quite good and lends to a comfortable, light-weight design, it doesn't look and feel as premium as a headset of this caliber should. While music sounds very good, the headset is really not suited for gaming, those looking for a one and done approach will not find it here in my opinion.

Lightweight and a joy to listen to for hours

But when I listened to them, they felt artificially boosted and somewhat tinny sounding. This is where the Sony's shined and ultimately won me over. The sound is natural, even, clean and crisp. And if you're looking for a little extra, the iOS Headphones Connect app works brilliantly for fine-tuning the sound. I listened to these headphones for 2 weeks and hardly used 40% of battery. They're lightweight, great to talk on the phone with and a joy to use. You won't regret this!

Solid pair of headphones

This is a consistent issue across different products/brands, even high-quality ones such as this, and I was hoping given the price point it would be a seamless process but unfortunately it's not. Regardless, I'm happy with the level of comfort, the noise cancellation, and especially the battery life. If money wasn't an option, I'd consider investing more in an even higher-quality brand that's more compatible with my Apple devices; but with this being over $150 more affordable than AirPods Max, I would still recommend this product.

Best Headphones I've ever owned.

Even the case is made of high quality material, lightweight and durable. Very comfortable to wear for extended periods (use them for work 6-9h a day). ANC is the best out there in this price range. Audio quality is great with a bit of eq customization. Battery life is as amazing, even with ANC. I've had Bose, previous versions of the XMs, Sennheiser, and Audio Technica. Overall these are the best headphones I've ever owned!
