I use them every. single. day. For hours on end for everything from poscasts and audiobooks, to any and all genres of music that flow with my eclectic musical tastes. AND they block out the NYC subway and street noise like a champ. Theyre comfortable, the sound quality is impeccable, they get super loud, and the battery life is unparallelled. They are well worth the purchase if you value music and your peace of mind.

Why You Can't Use These For Gaming

The noise cancellation is amazing. The sound is superb. But that's not what I'm here to really talk about. Let's talk about Bluetooth, the key reason you can't use these for gaming in the sense of being able to use the microphone array in place of a dedicated microphone. This all has to do with the limitations of the Bluetooth standard. Bluetooth only gives you two channels to work with. If you're just using the headphones to listen to music, you get stereo. When you pair these headphones with your mobile phone and take phone call, the headphones use one channel for incoming audio (mono) and the other for the mic array to talk to the other party. Maybe in the future Bluetooth will update the standard to have 3 channels so you can actually use these headphones for gaming. You can use these headphone for gaming just like any pair of regular headphones, but you also have to have a separate mic if you want to talk to your fellow gamers. For that I went and bought a Yeti GX ($150). Great microphone for PC gaming. Same thing goes for apps like Discord. Can't use the mics on the headphones and listen through the headphones at the same time. This is why most wireless gaming headphones come with their own USB dongle that uses a different standard than Bluetooth. But I doubt there are any gaming headphones that have the sound quality, NC, and battery life that the XM5s do. So if you're a PC gamer, these headphones will work so long as you have a dedicated mic to handle the communication aspect.

Best overall headphones period

After having them for a couple of days, I will unfortunately be returning them. NOT because it's a bad product, but it's just not what I'm looking for. I will admit, these are the best OVERALL headphones on the market. The design, battery life, functionality, ANC, and transparency mode are all excellent. For that alone I will deeply miss these headphones, I mean, they just feel so good to hold. But, I wasn't looking for an overall great pair of headphones... I want exceptional sound quality. And while these definitely sound good, they're not as good as I would like, even after tweaking the equalizer.

Amazing Headphones! Gaming and Work Calls

The battery life lasts me a week or two of full use before I have to charge them. The quick charge is very clutch when in a pinch. They feel and look great too. I use them for gaming and work calls. Voice is clear and others can hear me very well. Highly recommend!

One of The Best Options

Sound quality is great for the user and the participants. Switching between a studio mic and these the the person at the other end said they couldnt hear too much difference. They are light to wear feel good overall. I bought these because the noise cancellation was rated as really good and the voice quality for phone calls was excellent and that's how it's worked out. Switching between phone and computer connection is good but not excellent but better than i have had in previous headphones. Not flawless but not bad at all.

One of the best

I don't like the construction materials, a lot of plastic, but they are very comfortable. I also want to add a complaint to BestBuy for taking away my points that I had stored in the points bank. They removed them when they made the change from storing points to only credit card customers. I contacted support and they told me they would return them to me, but this never happened and in the end they just said they couldn't return them to me. I don't know if this was because I am a foreign customer (Mexican) but I find the treatment ridiculous when I have spent more than 20,000 dollars on their website. But well, I guess I will start looking for alternatives. Another complaint is about a Christmas purchase where I bought several video games for the family. I bought them confidently because they had an extended warranty for returns but they did not validate this warranty. They told me that it was not applicable to video games when the website clearly showed that those items had that extended period of time.

By far, these headphones are the best consumer grade headphones that I've used. If you're the type of listener that enjoys the "fun mix" (your typical V-shaped equalization), with an emphasis on bass/low end clarity and feel, look no further. Compared to the older XM3s, the noise cancellation seems to be a little weaker in blocking out the lower end rumbling noises like on planes or buses, but excels in blocking out a lot of the nastier, higher pitched/shrilled noises you might hear in your day to day. Loud construction? These will block that. Screeching car brakes? These will block that. Yelling kids? These will block that. Nagging significant other? These will block that, at your own risk. Lastly, the comfort of these things are unmatched. I have a fairly big head. Clamping with a head like mine usually leads to ear fatigue over time. These, along with some of Sony's higher end audiophile offerings, are the only headphones I can wear all day and not experience fatigue. This thing has gone through multiple 8+ hour sessions and have not fatigued me ever. If you're looking for a pair of premium headphones that does an amazing job at blocking out noise AND offering a superb listening experience, it just doesn't get better than this. Nothing else competes.

Great headphones!

The price was concerning but they are worth it. Awesome sound, good bass and long lasting battery. I wore these on a non-stop flight for 12 hours. Did not get uncomfortable on my head and sound cancellation was great. Even used the aux cord to watch movies on the flight. I would actually rate these 4 1/2 if I could. Some songs I wish I could play just a little louder and fingerprints will show on side touch volume. But still very happy with purchase.

He was very impressed with the noise cancellation and swipe touch features on the unit themselves. They look really sharp (along with the case). Quality So Good It’ll Make You Cry

The battery life on these is easily better, the sound quality and noise cancelling on these headphones are so good, you can hear each individual instrument in your music. Comfortable and an excellent product

These however are very comfortable and light! The battery life is excellent and the sound quality is excellent as well. I have other Sony headphones, so having the app for all of them is extremely convenient

Excellent quality

Bought them 2 weeks ago, came with 54% battery out of the box and been using them every other day for 2 hours flights. Have not recharged them yet. Sound quality is really good. Better than apple, and slightly better than bose. They are equalized with higher bass, but can be fixed with the heaphones app.

Very good over ear headphones

The noise canceling is not mind blowing but is great in comparison to the rest of the higher end over ear headphones. I bought them on the holiday sales, which made it a great value.
