Bose replacement

I tried them in store…liked the comfort, lightweight, one piece, transparent feature without taking off earcup, nice sound. Cons, price, thought Bose had the crisper sound but the overall comfort won me over to give Sony a try.

Not worth $400 plus tax

So I was tempted to run out and buy the XM5s after viewing all the positive reviews about them on Youtube. I opened the box, removed the case and pulled out the headphones. Here are my pros and cons after using them for a few hours. Pros: 1. Seamless design - less gaps between the earcups, pads and hinges than the XM4s 2. No creaking- Because they don't fold, there's no creaking of the armbands like with the XM4s. 3. Multipoint connection- can connect to 2 devices simultaneously 4. Larger earcups- a little wider and deeper than the earcups on the XM4s 5. Sound quality is more clear, less muffled than the prior XM series. Phone call quality is much better. Cons: 1. ANC is worse than the XM4s. You cannot change the level. Its only on or off. 2. Lacks the 40mm drivers necessary for stronger output like higher volume and bass. 3. Lacks NFC so you can't tap your phone to the earcup to turn it on and off. Came handy if your other hand was busy. 4. Cannot use high quality LDAC bluetooth codec on Android devices unless you download max high quality music from Spotify, Apple, Tidal and others which eats up huge storage space. Also, cannot use LDAC if multipoint is turned on. The Sony Music app will warn you of this. 5. No aptx codec limits the quality and range of music to download. Aptx was and is the standard for bluetooth music streaming/downloads. 6. Cannot fold. Takes up more storage space and makes them less compact to carry. For this price, I'll stick with the other XM-series from Sony. Even if these drop below $300 one day, I think I'll still pass.

While we are thrilled that you are satisfied with the stylish & quality design, multipoint connection function, and exceptional phone call & sound quality (compared to the previous models) of our WH-1000XM5, we are really sorry if the noise canceling feature, volume & bass sound, LDAC feature on Android devices and when using the multipoint connection function, supported audio format, price, and build of these headphones didn't live up to your expectations. We are also sorry if these headphones don't have an NFC function.

Not my loudest pair of headphones, but definitely the best I've owned. Battery life is ridiculously good; I once used them for about eight hours a day, for threes days before needing to charge them. The headphones are still pretty new, so the battery is fresh, but I couldn’t believe it and this is around my tenth pair of over the ear headphones. A couple of cons are; sometimes I hear static when I’m near a passing train ( near as in waiting for the train on the platform), and I sometimes like to place the headphones above my ears while I listen so that I can hear the sounds around me as well as the music. The headphones with recognize that they are not on my ears and go into sleep mode ( I could easily fix this in the app). All and all, I give them a 9.5/10

Some devices that emit ultrasonic sound waves designed to repel rodents may occasionally be installed at the entrances of commercial facilities or subway stations. Near such devices, the ultrasonic sound waves may cause noise or unusual sound to be heard from the headset. Leave the place where the noise or unusual sound is heard. 10/10 Amazing

I love these headphones. I've gone through a few looking for the right thing, these are it. Sound quality is great and perfect with some EQ work. Transparency mode is surprising quite good. Not airpods good, but still good. I can easyily carry on a conversation while using transparency. They look amazing, especially in white. But of a pale cream white with a slight tint of tan. Looks good. It works on wired mode as well. Noise cancelling is really good and has different modes you can tinker with on the app. It has some features I don't use, like auto transparency when I talk but it's still nice to have sometimes. Battery lasts forever as well. I go days without charging them. Highly highly recommend these if you can afford them as they are a bit pricey.

Top notch noise cancelling and comfort

They are quite comfortable and the battery lasts a long time. They sound very good, but audiophiles may be disappointed. When I need to block out the noise around me, I reach for these.... otherwise, it's my Grados.

Amazing sony headphones

Really comfortable, music is loud, features are amazing. Ive had them for more than 5 month i cant recal. Surprisingly good

I had to switch from my Bose because they keep failing despite software updates and was put off from spending 'Bose' money if they couldn't be relied on. Honestly, these are better. These have better features and are so much easier to use. The noise canceling is amazing (adaptive). I work in a very busy office where it gets really loud. Instead of turning up the volume to cover it (even with noise canceling in my old set), it keeps ramping up the canceling feature until I don't notice the background convos and I don't have to increase the volume. They are also far more comfortable than the Bose, which make my ears hurt after wearing for even short periods. I think it is because these don't actually touch my ears anywhere, unlike the Bose (which are smaller).

For a very brief moment when I put them on I feel a slight discomfort on the top of my head, but then its perfect. No more discomfort. Just did 45 min on treadmill and they are amazing. Sound quality is great, phone quality is very good. I prefer these over the Bose due mostly to the call quality.

These headphones were the best purchase I could've made in order to make short or long flights more enjoyable. I recently had 5-hour, 7-hour, and 11-hour flights and cannot say enough about how these headphones made the trips better. They are extremely comfortable for hours of wear. The sound quality for music and videos is fantastic. The noise cancelling is best in class - even silenced the chatty passengers near me. I even napped in pure silence with just the nose cancelling on - no music, just silence. It was blissful! Are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Every. Single. Penny.

The noise cancelling is also more superior than the previous one. I had a super noisy neighbor (super annoying) that plays heavy beats overnight and this headphone certainly helps.

Headband uncomfortable

But as far as comfort goes, I have to remove a star due to the headband. I find myself constantly readjusting the headphone because it hurts my head. I shouldn't have to do that with something that's meant to be worn for hours at a time.
