Must have for work or travel and lightweight!

The battery is great and after 3 work days I then need to charge for about an hour, and it is back at 100%. I have flown twice and these blocked out so much noise except I could hear a kid screaming. When I took off the headphones then I actually heard how loud the child was. Great looking headset and my manager went and bought one, and walking around campus I get stopped all the time about them. This is solidly made and the only complaint is the talk-to-stop noise feature can get annoying so I suggest turning it off as it triggers even when eating lunch. I wear these over my Apple earpods.

It also fits very well around the ear. The advantage of it comparing to Apple airpods max is the light weight it has.

Really Good Headphones a Worthy Challenge to AirPo

The Sony is lighter and less bulky and has more bass I feel than the Airpods Max. I would say these are better for long flights than the Airpods max. They also have a custom EQ that you can set up. They also come with a cable to connect to a headphone jack on a plane. You have to buy that for $35 if you have Airpods max. Noise cancellation is excellent and I really like how you can just put your hand up to the headphone to stop that and have a quick conversation. You then just move your hand and you are back in business. They don't have the spatial audio like the AirPods Max and they don't have the cool factor of the AirPods Max. All in all really good headphones.

Prior to owning the Wh-1000xm5's, I had the Wh-1000xm4's. After having the 5's for some time, I can honestly say that Sony is still continuing to take steps in the right direction. The sound that the 5's produce is absolutely phenomenal, the bass is great, along with the overall clarity of refined sound. Besides the sound quality, I think the 5's are REALLY stylish and good looking. I enjoy the fact that Sony has did away with the folding that is seen throughout previous models. I always thought the folding mechanism on the 4's was a little bit weird, especially when trying to put them into the case. It took me some time once I got my 4's to properly put them in the case without worrying about if they were right, with the 5's that's now fixed. I absolutely enjoy the case that the 5's have, it's way bigger than the 4's case and also looks more modern in my personal opinion. Overall, I enjoy the Wh-1000xm5's a lot as you can tell and I think anyone who decides to pick up a pair for themselves will be just as satisfied.

Love that you can adjust all the little settings and such. Just wish they were a little louder, but that also could be because I'm always blasting my music, so I might have ear damage already. Definitely worth purchasing.

Best sound quality

These headphones are comfortable to wear, but also fall off easily and the ear pads can get really hot. The settings are easy to set. Noise canceling is adequate, but not as strong as previous models. On rare occasion, there is a connectivity issue.

Best Headphones, Terrible for Gaming.

These are really top notch, HOWEVER. I originally purchased these for gaming. They do not work for gaming. Playing music, watching shows, making phone calls, using them at night to watch TV to keep noise down its great for all of them. The gestures and touch capabilities are nice as well, you can fast-forward, rewind, pause, and turn volume up and down with touches and swipes. It also has great sound cancellation, You could fire a gun off behind someone wearing these and they wouldn't know, heck might be able to use these at the range. Hooking them up to a PC the microphone would not let these babies utilize their full potential, sounds like being on walkie-talkies, and i could not figure out how to deactivate it for just output no inputs. I purchased the LG Lightspeed Pro X2 for gaming now. I will also disclose that i bought these on sale for 299.99 which helped a lot. Knowing what i know now, i would not spend the 400 on these as they did not perform the task i'd bought them for originally. Get em on sale if you can, great for an audiophile.

They are comfortable. I wear them consistently for work. Sound quality is great and I have had no complaints about the quality of the sound from the microphone. Also, they charge SO quickly between calls, battery life is never an issue.

I finally decided after booking a long flight that my current earphones were not going to be enough noise cancellation and comfortable. As an avid music listener/video watcher, these are incredible. Noise cancelling is amazing, the features (like how it’ll allow ambient sound in if it detects you talking or someone talking to you, covering an ear allows you to listen to the sound around you, etc.) add on to the value! These work so well I can easily use them in the office as well and not feel like I won’t hear my coworkers when they’re talking to me. I’m extremely happy with my purchase.

Worth every penny.

I can wear them for 5 or 6 hours without the top of my head getting pressed & ache by the headband. The controls are easy to use by touch tap or swipe on the headphone cup. The noise canceling is excellent as is the sound quality we have come to expect from Sony. They work very well for phone calls and web meeting calls like Zoom. They only fold flat, but really that makes them fit better in my laptop bag than the previous versions that folded up into a felt bag. Used with the Sony Music Center app, the custom transmission protocal really brings to life classical and movie music. But there is still the optional cable and you can plug straight into a PC or receiver for pure sound quality. I am extremely pleased with them.

Noise canceling is outstanding. I didn't care for the app and couldn't find a equalizer setting that really made me happy, but that's a minor nitpick. The head band and ear cups are comfortable; however, moving around and laying on the couch while listening, these wouldn't stay in place on my head. Surely that won't be an issue for everyone.

I’ve had these for about a year and it still works perfectly. Amazing for the gym, doesn’t slip off and fast to dry. I was between Apple AirMax and Sony XM5

My brother has the AirPod Max and yeah the sound good but not amazing, they are also heavy, and it’s weird that there is not off button. After a dive into people reviewing both headphones, the sony headphones are recommended if you are solely buying the headphones for sound quality, the apple if you don’t mind splurging more money and you only have apple products. I honestly love my headphones I have several piercings all around my ear and struggle with my ears hurting when having something against my ears but I don’t have that with these. If you find that the sound quality isn’t great in the beginning download the app and you can make adjustments. Only con is they don’t fold into themselves, they come with a nice case but it’s pretty big, but even then I don’t mind them.

Good headphones, poor touch sensor

I don't understand why Sony and most other headphone manufacturers feel the need to include touch capabilities in such a way that it reduces overall functionality. 1. If you're using this pair of headphones under hot weather and your ears get sweaty, the touch sensor gets erroneous input 2. When swiping with a finger, the margin of error for directional swipes is too low 3. If the touch capabilities are disabled with the phone app, the ear cup nonetheless still *beeps* when it senses your finger Noise-cancelling is best-in-class. Design aesthetic is awesome. Sound quality is great. Despite no longer folding in for a compact storage like previous models, the lack of another structural point of failure makes me indifferent to this issue. I'd give it five stars, if only Sony could also provide the option for actual button inputs.
