Great headphones!

I love the look of these more the rest of em and they as expected sounds amazing. My only gripe is that i wish they were about to fold the cups down when i have them tested on my shoulders

Not what I expected

Listened to advice of a salesperson who told me these will be 100% better in all aspects. I tried them both at the store and the sound of these was pretty pretty good and the volume great. Today I have them on for maybe 10th time and I wish I have never switched to Sony. The noise canceling is awful and not comparable to Bose whatsoever. When on a flight, I sometimes used my Bose QC with noise cancelling and no music to avoid hearing people around me. That doesn’t work with Sony. Volume - never gets loud enough. I am not sure how the store sample was set up, but Ive tried everything and it’s just ok. Swiping sensor works maybe half of the time. Woke, skipping or shuffle… You name it. I wish I have opened them and tried them on within the return policy timeframe because I would be having Bose again.

For the noise canceling issue, please ensure the headphones are worn properly, as an improper fit can significantly affect the noise canceling performance. You can also try adjusting the settings using the Sony | Headphones Connect app. Make sure the Adaptive Sound Control is turned off and manually set the Noise Canceling function to its maximum level. If the issue persists, you might want to reset or initialize the headphones to see if that resolves the problem. Regarding the volume not being loud enough, it might be helpful to check the volume settings on both the headphones and the connected device. Additionally, ensure that any volume limiting features on your device are disabled.

Beautiful sound and noise cancellation

If I must pick a fault it would be coming from the x4's The fifth is not as comfortable. Don't get me wrong it is still very comfortable but but the X4 is worth second to none in terms of comfort.

Great Sound, poor App management

Sometimes I wish it didn't need the app to work on my phone. The App is the only reason I wish I would have bought Bose instead. But the sound quality is good.

While we're glad you like most of the features of your WH-1000XM5, we regret to hear you are not having the best experience with the companion app. Your feedback is extremely important to us and is very much appreciated. You can use the headphones without the app, however, to get the most out of your WH-1000XM5, the Sony Headphones Connect app allows you to customize the following:
• Update the headset software
• Turn the voice guidance on/off
• Switch the touch sensor control panel on/off setting
• Set the Bluetooth connection mode (sound quality mode)
• Set the wearing detection automatic power off function
• Set the wearing detection automatic music playback pause and resume function
• Check the connection status and the settings of the headset
• Switch the multipoint connection (Connect the headset to 2 devices simultaneously) on/off setting
• Select the Equalizer setting
• Customize the Equalizer setting
• Adjust the noise canceling function and Ambient Sound Mode (ambient sound control)
