You can also connect the Bluetooth device to the headset once again to further isolate the issue. You can also customize your listening experience by adjusting the Equalizer setting using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app.

Hi JamesF, While we're glad you like the great sound quality and noise cancellation of the Sony XM5, we regret to hear that you're unable to hear yourself talk during phone calls and it had to be returned. For this specific issue, I would suggest adjusting the noise cancelling function using the Sony Headphones Connect app and find the right spot where the noise cancellation still blocks out outside noise but still hear your voice during phone calls.
