Before I review this I have to say I am not an audiophile so this is more of a layman's review. I bought these headphones after watching numerous reviews from YouTube. To me, they sound great out of the box but if you download the app, you can customize the sound to how you like. I'm sure there will be other reviews with how these noise cancel on a technical level but for me, my lawn company comes around at least twice a week with their loud leaf blowers, weed whackers, lawn mowers and such. With these on, I hear very minimal of that noise. They are comfortable for long periods of use (over 2 hours for me) and they aren't too heavy on the head. There's several convenience features like holding your hand over the right ear to soften the sound so you can hear other people or you can just start talking and it will do the same and stop your music (although these are neat features I think most people might find it rude if you talk to them without taking off your headphones). All in all I am very happy with the money spent on these.

The headphones work spectacular I’ve had them for multiple months and I’ve never had an issue. The headphones play audio perfectly and when I use them I can’t hear anything else. The headphones quality are really good and they are really comfortable. I wear them almost everyday and I’ve never had any problems with charging them. The headphones are perfect and I’ve never had any problem with them.

Very light! I wish they were a little heavier just so that they felt more premium. I don’t really like the connectivity of it but they provide great sound!

By far the best sounding headphones I’ve ever owned, listen to your favorite song and there’ll be instruments and subtle sounds you never noticed before. The battery lasts for days and days. Microphones are excellent for calls. The lack of lag is magical on wireless headphones, similiar to Logitech’s lightspeed headphones but without a big extruding usb dongle. The materials are so soft and comfortable. The noise cancelling is unmatched. They’re expensive but you get what you pay for on every level, these are the best consumer headphones money can buy and the last pair you’ll ever need to buy.

These headphones are really nice, i can’t compare them to others bc i usually have airpods. I would say the noise cancellation is high quality, and they are also comfortable, i do feel a bit of a headache if i leave them on for too long bc they are a little heavy. Recently it has been turning off my sound cancelling which was really annoying but it’s a click of a button to fix and maybe i have something in the settings that makes it do that. I’d recommend them but only if ur willing to spend the hefty $400+tax price. The sound is amazing, and you can get the app which allows you to change how you hear the music, more bass etc.. but listening to the 4’s in store they sound similar, the 5’s are just a bit crisper and i like the look of them more. Also I have charged them once in like mid sept (posting 10/6) and the battery is amazing i think i’m at 40%. the case is a little bulky but i don’t mind bc it still fits in my bag

These headphones are quite impressive for at a inexpensive price. The sound quality with noise cancelation adds to its great functionality. The material, weight, adjustable fit, battery life, and user-friendly interface connection are additional great features as well.

Best headphones ever! Perfect for bass, and noise cancellation & I love the app! They fit so perfectly & comfortably!!! Battery last long! My ears don’t hurt & comfortable nicely on my head.

If you can stomach the price, they sound great and the wireless connection is quite good. (Not AS convenient as other headphones; if you use the LDAC codec you can't use multipoint connections.) They sound just a bit cleaner than the XM4 but lose some of the bass punch. I prefer my Shure Aonic 50s for listening to music, but these are still great. The carrying case is also notably bulkier than the XM4s, as these don't fold in on themselves. They look fairly cool, and are pretty comfortable for hours on end, but - especially since it has touch controls - the black finish collects fingerprint oil very fast (seems the silver has a different texture/feel and doesn't have that problem). Fast charging, good battery life, decently low latency despite not being Apt-X-LL. They do actually perform great as headphones for phone calls, vastly better than others I've tried. No one has yet said anything negative about the call quality. The carrying case is bulkier than the XM4.

My first high end headphones, and I am already impressed by the sound it delivers while listening to music or watching movies. Since I have several Apple products, I was initially considering the AirPods Max, but it didn’t justify the price difference with these Sony headphones. I can’t compare both since there was no AirPods Max on display at the Best Buy store. Noise canceling is top notch on these Sony XM5 headphones, just used it on a 16-hr flight and I could barely hear any aircraft noise while watching For All Mankind episodes on my iPhone. Bass are good but not too much, dialogues are clear. Battery is very good, after watching 4 episodes and listening music for couple hours, I still had around 80% battery left. I also used the headphones for work with Teams on a Windows laptop. Easily paired with the laptop, and can be switched between laptop and iPhone without any problem. I have also been told my voice is very clear when I talk on Teams meeting.

Absolutely worth it! I bought these headphones to help me study in working spaces and for working out. They block out noise really well and the battery life is seemingly everlasting. The charge time to full power is super quick as well. I can wear these headphones for hours at a time without feeling uncomfortable. The touch functions on the side of the right earphone are easy to use, and it's really helpful to be able to switch between transparency mode and noise-cancelling mode with a touch of a button on the headphones too. The noise quality is great as well.

The sound quality amazing, the comfornt exceptional, the battery life perfect. And the features thats just the cherry on top..

This is after using a few times. These are the best headphones I've used, but the last headphones I had were the first Beats Solo in 2009 then I had a Razer gaming headset. It's very comfortable and light. Sound quality is wonderful, good bass and clear audio. It's one of the most stylish headphones, Sony has nailed the minimalistic design. The versatility is great from using wirelessly or wired with different devices whether it's for gaming, music, movies and surfing the web. Wished I was able to wear it to the gym. If you can afford it, stop thinking about it and just get it.

Oh my.... These are the best pair of wireless headphones I've owned. I was daily driving the wf-1000xm4 ear buds. But my ears get fatigued pretty easily. I decided I would get a pair of headphones to switch it up. Since I liked the features that came with the Sony xm4 ear buds, I thought I'd give the WH-1000xm5 a try. I've only had it for less than a week but I have become obsessed with them to the point where I spend most of my day wearing them. Sound quality is pretty nice, The ANC works nicely, The touch features are pretty cool, and The battery lasts ridiculously long. So as far as cons go, I can say that The touch feature can get annoying if you're just adjusting the headset. It doesn't annoy me too much but if it did the touch feature can always be turned off with the app. Other issues I have are software related, which are not deal breakers when considering the overwhelming positives.

This product is by far the best noise cancelling headphones I own. They are a super light weight while giving a sleek mate design. Can’t hear anyone while blasting Korn at work with these.

I drive a semi truck and at the truck stops when I idle i cannot hear anything thanks to ANC on these. I tried Bose QC Ultra but I could still hear the idling noise. The XM5 has AI noise cancelling which actually works and I could feel the difference in public transport. Also Bose pays attention to highs and mids more than lows which sounds unpleasently loud to me. I love loud headphones but when they are properly tuned. The XM5 however is not as loud as Bose but because of the outstanding ANC you feel the music more on these. More details and less disturbing noises. Actually when ANC works properly you will get a feeling that these are louder than QC ultras. I had xm4 before these and I can tell the difference in sound is above on XM5

Overall a good headphone. The ear pieces are fairly comfortable over glasses. Not as cushy as the cheaper Sony models. But they feel like they will hold up better than the cushy style. Noise canceling works well for my application-late night movie watching. The pause feature when you remove the headphones is pretty cool. Wish they could be louder, but that’s probably hearing loss from motorcycles and heavy metal. The headband portion isn’t that comfortable after a while, you have to lossen them up and shift the band or it begins to hurt. I’d take these over the cheaper Sony, but will likely look at ones that can be stupid loud and a bit more comfortable.

As a student, being able to have a nice and quiet environment to work in is crucial to my studies, and with the XM5's I can turn virtually any environment into just that. I have taken these headphones to school every day, including track meets and long bus rides, and I can vouch that these are super comfortable. No matter where I go, as long as I have even a little bit of volume on my music, I can not hear the background. I even use these as home since they are just so comfortable. I would say that they are on the pricy side, so it might not be the best choice for everyone. All in all, these headphones are great, and I don't regret getting them at all, I use them every single day, and I love the audio quality.

Just about perfect. Bluetooth connects effectively, sound is great. They are lightweight and don’t apply too much pressure. I wear them 9 hours a day for work usually on meetings or listening to streaming audio. I do not wear them out to use with my phone. Phone calls with them are perfect. The charge lasts about two days with my usage. If it helps, I also wear external hearing aids, and these headphones fully cover my ears and the aids. No complaints.

Upgraded from the 900 series and this was a great purchase. These earphones are lighter and much more comfortable than my previous earphones. The sound quality has improved as well but it is hard to beat any Sony headphone when it comes to true sound quality.
