Under certain environmental conditions, especially when the air is very dry, it is not uncommon to experience a slight static electricity discharge or mild shock when your body comes in contact with another object, in this case the ear buds touching your ear(s). The energy from this natural discharge is extremely small and was not generated by your product but rather a natural environmental occurrence. There is no safety issue with the product itself.
You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Note: Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.
How long have you been wearing the headphones? The longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt. Note: You may need to limit your headphone usage.

The ones I returned were not loud enough. The Sonys are loud enough however, the problem with the Sonys are “Connecting” them they don’t always work the first time - this needs to be fixed. I bought them because my Sony TVs are superior to others I’ve had.

Big problems with these tho, they randomly disconnect and the touch controls stop working randomly. Not at all acceptble even remotely considering the price range. Sadly im returning. The sony headpones app is a blessing. You got like 5 different sound equlizer presets and its really nice with optjons to turn off touch controls. The noise cancelling and transparency mode are a godsend. But for 439 after tax and one day delivery I expect sealess bluetooth functionality and consistency. If u wanna try these go for it, you mite love these like i did on my first day. Also dont get black they leave fingerprints everytime but no biggi.

While we're happy that you like the great sound and you're utilizing the built-in equalizer on the Sony Headphones Connect app, we're sorry to hear you're experiencing intermittent audio and the touch sensor control panel does not respond correctly. Multiple Wi-Fi devices, microwave ovens, cordless phones, or devices that transmit 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves can cause the sound to cut out. To improve transmission, set the headphones to prioritize on stable connection (via Sony Headphones Connect app) and see if it resolves the problem.
When you wear the headset over a cap, cloth, a scarf, hair, etc., wearing detection may not work properly, and the touch sensor control panel may not be available for operation. Wear the headset so that your ears are inside the earpads. We also recommend to clear the touch sensor so that you can tap the touch sensor directly. The noise cancelation is CRAZY. I like that with the adaptive sound control you can customize how much gets filtered out. Only two downsides for this headphone: it's pricey $50 more than the previous gen headphones, and I really wish the band that goes over your head wasn't so small. I wish it were a bit wider. The padding on it is good, i just wish it wasn't a small round one. If it were a wider one it would be perfect.

It even reduces enough noise with nothing playing that I sometimes use them without music and video. Sound is excellent once I played with the EQ settings. Very comfortable even as someone with glasses. Complaints: App could be better. A lot of options are unnecessary and the menu is cluttered. Would be nice to able to customize touch gestures. Would also be nice to set level of noise cancelling instead of it just being adaptive. Also wish they folded & had a better case. Some water resistance like the earbuds would also be nice.

If you are considering them for workouts, they did not work well for me. Due to the soft fit, they tend to slip off constantly during gym training. However, it is hard to call this a downside, as these headphones are not positioned as workout or gym headphones. Overall, I am very satisfied with them.

Great but Pricey

Pricey for what it is. Not to say it wasn't good, as I think the sound on these and the features like voice recognition to disable noise cancelling and the microphone quality on call definitely improved. I just don't know if these improved features coming from an xm3 earbud user is worth the extra $250-300 price hike. I liked them. They were light and surprisingly cool as I'm very active in the workplace.. but they just weren't worth the price for me personally.

Xm5s are better than i thought

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy the color and the sound profile, i upgraded from xm3 and the noise cancelling is noticeably different. the added drivers help the sound be more clear and distinct. bass is stronger but not overwhelmingly so, i just don’t like the fold out method for the 5s, they fold outward looking and sit on my clavicle uncomfortably, i also worry about the hinges since i’ve seen a lot of people mention that, but so far so good. i probably will get the xm6s but the only thing holding me back is the colors. :)
