These headphones offer a cheaper option for those that want the sound quality that Sony is known for, but don't need all the bells and whistles offered by higher end models. At the current price point, they are well worth a purchase. Even though this is not Sony's high end model, it still has plenty of nice features. You can toggle the Artificial Intelligence Noise Cancellation (AINC) at the push of a button to analyze your environment and automatically optimize your audio experience. I found the noise cancelling to be terrific, drowning out all ambient sounds. I was even able to mow my lawn and listen to a podcast at the same time, although I do use an electric lawn mower which is quieter than gas mowers. There is an optional app that you can install on your smart phone that provides additional features such as an equalizer to optimize your sound. Comfort was top notch as well, which is one of the most important things to consider when shopping for good headphones. If you are looking for a reasonably priced set of noise cancelling headphones, this model is a great option to consider.

These headphones hit a sweet spot between very good battery life and excellent sound. The noise-cancelling features of the headphones are perfect for me. At low or mid volume of music or voice, just enough outside noise comes in so I can hear my phone ring or people trying to get my attention. As expected, if I turn the volume up, all I hear is music. The headphones come with both iOS and Android apps, but I don't think they're necessary. Surround-sound and an equalizer are the two major features that are only exposed via the app, but I like the sounds coming out of the headphones better when both of those things are turned off. Although I didn't do any testing on their effects on battery life, I'd image that both of them take power. So getting better sound without sacrificing battery life is a win-win. For what it's worth, most of the music I listen to is Top 40 and I like boosted mid-range for voice and a punchy, but not over-boosted, bass. Out of the box, this is what these seem to be tuned for. The headphones themselves had a harsh, new-electronics smell when I opened the box, but that dissipated within an hour. They're relatively light; they fit my large head even while wearing glasses; and the ear cuffs were soft. The on-ear control for previous/next track; pause track; volume; and power all work exactly like you'd expect them to. Bluetooth pairing was quick and effortless with an Android 8.1 phone.

I expected much better quality from Sony but this headset seemed to be made out of cheap leather and plastic! The sound was barely better than an off brand headsets that I purchased for $49 several years ago.

    What Noise Cancellation?

Sound quality on Windows 10 and iPhone 8 is acceptable. Noise Cancellation is essentially non-existent with minor background noises bleeding through the NC filter. JBL has a lot better NC feature that actually <gasp!> works.

The Sony WH-CH700N is a competitor at this price point. The build quality is good, the extension arms are plastic but reinforced with metal guide rails. I have tweaked them enough to be confident they won't fall apart or break easily. Sound quality is right up there with several other brands of headphones I own at higher price points. The NC feature is better than not having it but is middle of the road in terms of the actual purpose. I have to say however the directions are very clear about this feature in that "The noise cancelling function works for noise in the low frequency band primarily. Although noise is reduced, it is not canceled completely. ". Again with that information better than not having it and it does do a good job. Sound quality is excellent, although absent on this Sony is the EXTRA BASS my kids immediately noticed. Not being a big fan of that the sound quality is excellent. All the needed/standard functions are at your fingertips and once you are accustomed to the layout of the buttons these are a snap to operate. I appreciate the fact they have nearfield as this is really the easiest way to connect wirelessly. As I write this review I have been wearing these for 1.5 hours and they are comfortable for extended wear. My only real issue with these is they do not come with a case. The reality is although put together well they likely will not withstand my backpack through the airport for too long. All that said I would recommend as either a backup or main headphone.

Unable to use the Bluetooth without turning off Wi-Fi (internet router). Even with that off the sound distorted. Decided to use direct connection, also provided with earphones. Sound was inferior to the Bose earphones currently using on direct connection.

These were free with the purchase of a Chromebook as part of a Student Deal. They were a $200 value, but have horrible static and sound quality. Thinking about returning them. Makes me sad because I love Sony products.

Bought these headphones for the purpose of using them in conjunction with my PC. I tested them on my laptop and they worked great! I was very happy with my purchase until I tried connecting them to my primary PC, in which case they refused to work. I spent days, literally days trying to download and searching for the proper drivers to make these things work to no avail. I'm finally admitting defeat and I am returning these ASAP. If you're looking for Bluetooth headphones to use on your PC I'd advise looking elsewhere. It's a shame really because the quality seems high, but if it doesn't work for what you want them for than what's the point?

Don't waste your time! What home does not have bluetooth running all over the fecking place? What home doesn't have a bluetooth engaged in the car, on modern PC computers to network printers and monitors and keyboards? What home doesn't have tablets that may have bluetooth engaged? Heck some homes have appliances with bluetooth engaged. These headphones do not pair with anything unless every fecking bluetooth within range is disengaged but the one you want to pair with. INSANE!!!!! For those who say I don't know what I'm talking about. When I disengage every other device under the roof it pairs to the one device I leave on. RAH!!!!

Uncomfortable to wear, sound is not as good when traveling on a plane. Didn’t think they were worth the money after a few uses. Would love to find the perfect pair! Gave it 2 stars as the sales person who sold these to me was really nice.

Decent sound and comfort top the list as the best features of these headphones. Noise cancellation and switching between devices rise to the top of the worst features. Overall not a bad pair of headphones at this price point, but, if you are looking for something with good noise cancellation these are not the pair for you. Wore to the gym today and could still easily hear everything going on around me. Battery life is good in all situations: listening, on but not in use and standby. Overall not the worst or best just ok.

    Superb Sound Quality

Sound quality is what I care the most about any speakers or headphones and the Sony WH-CH700N deliver that perfectly to my demanding ears. They go beyond the excellent base. They sound clear and vibrant. I played an old MP3 file that I still had and somehow it improved the quality so much that I am still wondering how they did that. It seemed like an impossible task. The noise canceling is almost as good as the higher end Sony WH-1000XM2 that own and love. Still, it made a very noisy park environment sound quiet except for the music I was listening to. Phone calls were very clear both ways and that is something that not many headphones can do so well. Comfort is also something I care a lot and they are as comfortable as can be. While the WH-CH700N headphones are more basic than the Sony WH-1000XM2 and do not have the entire extra features that I enjoy, when it comes to sound quality and noise canceling, they are very similar. So, if that and a better than average noise canceling are all you care about, you can save some money by buying this model instead. They won’t disappoint and are a very solid option.
