Great build and features, but bad sound

These would be my favorite headphones... except for the SOUND (which is the whole point of headphones. I wanted to like them, and have listened to them extensively. The predominant bass takes over the music and muddles the sound, even without the Bass Boost Button. I NEVER used the Bass Boost button. Its literally ridiculous and destroys the music. A gimmick that doesn't work at all, except maybe for those who are moved solely by a beat and disregard the rest of the music. I like bass, but this bass is not even tight. Its loose and distorted when pushed. If you don't have a problem with boomy inaccurate bass, then go for it. But if you want clear music over a wider genre of music,.. umm... I'd check something else. I listen to many types of music. Anything with instruments and vocals seems overpowered by the BASS in these headphones... not good. Needs more balance. You can adjust an EQ to brighten up the sound, but now you are trying to fix a problem that should not be there and risk never hearing the music like how the artist intended for it to be heard... just my two cents worth. I wish Sony would hear this and somehow fix/refine the sound on this headphone. It could have been my favorite.

Amazing sound quality, great look! I bought these to use in my workouts. No pun intended but literally the Best Buy. Cost was great and they have been going on one charge for two weeks, 5 workouts a week at least an hour and a half each! Can't do anything dynamic with them, I have a smallish head so they bounce around when I jump. But taking them of for a few burbees is a good trade off for such a quality product.

There are many positive feedbacks here and I'm also a Sony fan but seems I should switch! If you plan to buy these headphones consider the following: They are really flimsy and don't fit tightly on your head. Ok, you can sit relax and don't shake your head BUT you will loose a lot of power bleeding out specially in low to mid frequencies. Also environmental noise will affect your hearing experience due to fitting. Next big issue is that when you turn up the volume, at the max level it mute the music for about half a second and gives you three beeps! then resumes playback at max power. Hey Sony who you replaced your designers with?? At least it could overlay the beeps on music. Believe me it's really frustrating. This was enough for me not to buy them if I knew it. The main plus points of these pair is longer battery life, longer BT working range, track control, and good but not excellent bass.

I got these while they were on sale for 90 bucks. For what I paid for them, they are excellent. I love the Extra Bass, and the sound quality is excellent. These have become my go to headphones who any application. They fit comfortably over my ears, and does a great job blocking out outside distractions. I just wish they would have come with a carrying case or pouch for that higher $200.00 pricepoint.

Cuts out all the sound, so it's great for our big studio when my partner is doing something else. So great to not have strings! A friend has already bought a pair who heard them.

Great bass - terrible everything else.

I bought these because I can't turn down a great deal - the price is excellent. The headphones are incredibly comfortable and sized well, even for my giant head. However, there is incredibly poor replication of all mids and highs. I tried this wirelessly and plugged in - and it all sounded weak. Sure, the bass is loud as can be, but if you've ever listened to ANYTHING before you know that you need a nice mix in order for true greatness. I wouldn't even go so far as to say the bass is overwhelming (it isn't overwhelming, it's great - truly), but everything else sounded so muddy that I couldn't give these a pass. I tried it with all eras of rock music, I tried it with hip hop, I tried it with some jazz - I tried so many different types of music just to see and in every instance it sounded average at BEST. You may like it, but you may have terrible taste ;)

I had read some reviews about the wireless in-ear headphones from Skull Candy and they had gotten great reviews. When I get to the store I notice these and start checking them out instead. As I do another customer walks by and tells me that they're better than Beats. He tells me he had just bought a pair the week before and how surprised he had been at the quality. So I walked out with a pair that day and didn't regret it. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't sound as great when you use it as a hands-free. When getting a call while listening to music my husband couldn't always hear me and was constantly asking me to repeat myself. I started just taking them off if I got an incoming call or had to make one.

These sound amazing! I have a cousin that is an Audiophile and have therefore tried quite a bit of headphones. That being said I find these to be one of the best ones I’ve tried. They sound great, have 20+ battery life on one charge, have a mic, and can be corded. I got some for my sister's birthday and ended up get my own pair of the blue ones because I was jealous haha. Just get them.

Tried Beats Solo HD (sound good painful to wear longer than 30 minutes), Beats studio (not enough bass for me), then moved on to Sony. Had the smaller wired version which I like but then saw these on sale and had to have them. Great sound (bass boost is not needed), long battery life, flexibility for phone use as it has a microphone built in also. Not a bad thing to say about these.

Pros: Good bass headphones, super comfortable cushion. Easy to function and great for travel use. If you go to places a lot or travel, these are great for it. If you don't, go for wired ones Cons: Not great for gaming, built in mic kind of sucks. Also the Bluetooth kind of disconnects or interferes with my game making me disconnect a lot from my laptop. I'd give a 5 star if i didn't have an issue using it on my laptop, don't really care about the built in mic.

I wear these at my desk to play video games and watch movies. The sound quality is very good, and the extra bass really enhances movies the same way a sub-woofer would with a surround sound system. The focus on bass isn't really appropriate for EVERY genre of music (especially country and classic rock) but no sound quality is lost for the bass boost, so it works out.

I purchased these wanting the wireless functionality and they delivered. They deliver heavy bass, the highs are a bit muddled along with the mids at times, but the overall sound quality is decent. Battery life has been right on par with estimate. Overall, I'm happy with the product, even though it truly does look like a pair of ear muffs at times.

    I am overly impressed

I just purchased these (Dec. 2014) from BestBuy.com after having seen that they were on sale from a consumer electronics website I follow. The reviews here (and elsewhere) were good to great and I had been thinking about a Bluetooth solution for a particular headphone need. I've had these one day and I'm already well impressed. Actually, much more so than I had expected. I've been listening to them with my smartphone for the last 5-hours and here's my first impressions. One, packaged nicely. Operating instructions were simple and clear. I was up and running in no time (they came partially charged so I charged them up first). Second, they look good. They have a simple, conservative & understated design ("adult" - none of this flash and gaudy stuff) and feel reasonably solid in construction. My only concern/criticism is the volume and transport buttons feel a bit flimsy. Third, they are comfortable. I've had them on for five straight hours and I haven't found them at all fatiguing. The earcups fit OVER my ears (I'm 6'4" so I don't have small ears) and block out sound well. The earcups are a little stiff right now, but I suspect they will soften with some use. The headband is padded and could be a tad wider to distribute weight across a larger area, but these aren't heavy and it's not a big deal. Four, they feel reasonably secure on my head. A light shaking back and forth causes them to jiggle a bit because they don't have a high/large clamping force to your head. This may make them a bit loose for a more average sized person (this is an important factor for me as I'll be moving around a lot when wearing these). And fifth and most important: sound quality... overall I'm quite satisfied. Clearly these aren't $300+ Sennheisers or Beyerdynamics, etc., but I find everything to be very competent, especially for the price. Bass, in particular, has been solid, punchy and without bloat (forget about the bass boost - it's nothing you want). Mids are clear and articulate and it's only the highs which sound laid back. Of course, I suspect this could have more to do with the nature of compressed Bluetooth transmission than the actual headphones. These do sound better with more recently released music (I noticed a marked increase in how forward are the highs when I compared a recording from the early 1990's with its re-mastered version from this year). In headphone/speaker parlance I'd say these are "warm". I also made certain to use these on a phone call and it worked just as it should with good clarity from the caller. The only thing which was disconcerting was how muffled my own voice sounds, but this should be expected with an over-the-ear design. I just wasn't prepared for it, so it took me by surprise. You may find yourself, as I did, speaking a bit louder than necessary just so you can hear yourself. Also, I have noticed some light background sound during quieter music passages, but it's really unobtrusive... almost unnoticeable. However, when I pause music there is a noise that is louder, but disappears after a few seconds. I don't know what is the cause or reason for the sound, but since it doesn't interfere with listening to music I'm not concerned about it. Lastly, when using the volume or transport buttons there is a fair bit of noise transmitted through the plastic earcups from your hands touching the surface. It's plastic, so it cannot be helped, but be aware your hand will make some noises. So I cannot compare these to any other Bluetooth-based headphones, but on their own I'm quite impressed. More so than I expected. So much so I felt compelled to post a review very quickly, which I'm usually loath to do. Thanks, Sony.

I was about to pull the trigger on some Beats but instead opted for these. I'm so glad I did. They have a great sound! Excellent Bass. Just be warned... it's all about the bass. It's great for Hip Hop and EDM. Not so sure for other genre of music. Look up video reviews and you'll see that most reviewers give this set 2 thumbs up.
