Excellent 4K HDR TV for 2016
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad we waited for the 2016 Sony line! Banding / Ghosting issues nearly undetectable on this panel. Substantially less glare due to no longer using a glass front. Minimalist design is very attractive. I like the metal stand and rear cover for wires. Black satin finish bezel with glossy silver inlay on the side edge gives a real high-end look. Light at bottom softly glows white and is not distracting at all (it can be turned off if you want complete darkness). HDR Video Mode really makes colors pop especially with good 4K Content. Sound on the TV is very capable. I really like the remote. I hate my apple TV touchpad remote because It is way too sensitive and feels terrible in your palm. This remote has a super soft polypropylene feel on top and a faux leatherette wrap on the bottom where it sits comfortably in your palm. This remote also controls the new apple TV giving me a better option for control. The OS is fast and the speech to text is so far 100% accurate. 1080P to 4K up-conversion works well but 4K content is KING here. Many picture adjustments can be made. You have complete control over the picture as possible. The X850D series especially the 75 is a very complete / refined package. It appears that Sony has done a good job redirecting its focus away from awkward cosmetic shinny wedges and touchpad remotes to what matters most–ease of use and picture quality. 2016-17 is looking good for Sony Home Electronics.

Glad I did, it fits the room just right. I just wish the blacks were a little better though I'm coming from an old Plasma and it's just not as dark as the Panny. It will do until OLED becomes more mainstream. Sports are fantastic on this TV.

With all of the functionality you only need extra speakers if you must have the TV loud. With the built in options you really only need a good internet connection.

Picture quality is about as good as my eyes can discern. It is big so you need some distance to make comfortable viewing. Cannot comment on the sound quality as I run through my sound system. For the money I do not believe it can be beat.

The television is gorgeous, allows you to real time video from your iPad to the screen, and is perfect for everyday viewing and gaming. For the price, there really isn't a close second.

It was true, the difference between a 75' and 65' (I needed one of those as well) was disprortionately greater than between any other (55' and 65' for instance). For this reason perhaps 75' tv's are scarce. The Sony "color and vividness" on this 75' was worth the significant extra price. We love it.
