Customers are impressed with the XBR X850D Series 75" TV's picture quality, ease of use, and vibrant colors. Many appreciate the 4K resolution and find the upscaling capabilities to be excellent, resulting in a great viewing experience even with non-4K content. However, some users have noted issues with the remote control's responsiveness and contrast in dark scenes. While the design is generally praised, a few customers mentioned the TV's weight as a potential drawback.

Purchased this in 2017 and still have it 7 years later! Have seen zero decrease in audio or visual qualitu. Minus one star for Smart TV feature; UI lags really bad

update from july 12

This is an update from July 12 and I said it was a work in progress. Believe it or not but still issues but I have to say nothing to do with the tv at all and most issues having to deal with Cable tv. I had enough issues with comcast and had a tech come out. He replaced all my boxes and more issues. After weeks of different things happening and some research and more calls to comcast. It seems there are settings with the comcast box the average person would never be able to solve without customer service from comcast. After many calls I believe I have solved all my issues for now. I am very happy with the tv. I am not thrilled how long it has taken to solve the issues but this is due to ever changing products constantly. I am able to do everything on the tv I am supposed to do but was a work in progress since just after memorial day weekend. I have to work on getting everything done on 1 remote now but seems that everyone recommends getting a harmony all in one so that will be eventually. I dont mind how things are otherwise now

This TV is not IPS. VA is better anyway. IPS blacks and contrast can't compete.

What an upgrade from 55" TV

I was in the market to get 70" tv and was trying to decide between Samsung, Vizio & Sony. I went up to 75" since they didn't make 70" in models I was comparing. It came down to value of paying same amount for new 2016 Sony model or 2015 Samsung model. I went with the newer year Sony model XBR. I've had it for just over a month. It's HUGE!! Had the geek squad guys tune it & picture looks great. Love the 4K - Amazing clarity & colors.

Excellent 4k TV value

Was looking for an entry TV to 4K without paying an arm and a leg. At this price, it's hard to beat this TV - I compared PQ at the store with equivalently priced Samsungs and LGs and nothing could be beat the color and picture quality of the Sony. Having messed with he TV for about a week now, here are my thoughts.
Pros
- Great color accuracy, realistic bright colors
- Awesome viewing angles from anywhere in a room
- Great Smart TV features
Cons
- Sound is bad - but using a 5.1 solution so this is irrelevant for me
- Black levels - I've read some horrible things about the black levels for this TV. I've watched a movie late at night (Huntsmen) with a lot of dark scenes. The contrast is acceptable for me - although maybe not for others. I'm not a hard core videophile and for me its hard to tell the difference and the blacks look good to me. I will admit, I'm coming from a Sony XBR8 - one of the greatest TVs Sony ever made, and those blacks were better.
Overall, great TV at the price point. There are certainly better TVs out there with high contrast ratios and better implementation of HDR - however, you'll pay for it. If you're looking for an entry into 4K at a reasonable cost, this TV is hard to beat.

I bought an open box 75 inch Sony. Scheduled best buy for delivery and haul away of my old 65 inch tv from my upstairs theater room. Night before my scheduled delivery, Best Buy informed me via email that they cancelled my delivery. I had already made plans to miss work. Manager stated my TV didn't make it to warehouse for tomorrow's delivery. Although he gave me a discount, I had to pick up my TV and haul away old TV. With that being said, I cannot be more satisfied with my Sony TV. Picture and my polk audio surround sound theater room is a great experience for my eyes and ears.

I was comparing 3 tvs when my samsung (which was garbage) went out.
They were the sony xbr75x850D, xbr75x940D and lg 75uh8500.
They all looked awesome but color on screen was better with sony i feel. I couldnt get my self to justify spending 12,1300 extra on the 940 since the 850D is just as impressive but in the store its doesnt do the tv justice.
Pros
- Awesome screen
- Android
- Very nice picture
Cons
-speakers suck
-Somewhat confusing if you are not tech savy

My 72 inch 12 year old Sony Bravia finally gave out. I went to Best Buy Magnolia on July 2, purchased this TV, and it was delivered on Wednesday July 6. The two guys who came out to do the install/setup were very nice and knowledgeable. They showed me generally how things work although there was a lot more to figure out. The only downside is that, for some reason, I can no longer play the TV on my outside (zone 2) speakers. It may have something to do with my receiver not being HDMI as it too is 12 years old. I plan to have a Geek Squad guy come out to see if the problem can be fixed. The TV's picture clarity is superb. Between the internet side of things (like Netflix, You Tube) and Direct TV's 4k channels and programming, the ultra HD is amazing. More programming coming too. I hope this new Sony lasts at least half as long as the prior one we had for 12 years.

Is it perfect? No, only because the blacks aren't superb. If your gonna watch in a moderate lit room or bright room you will have no complaints about this tv. I have a tiny bit of light bleed with mine but nothing bad at all. Overall very pleased with this tv and especially the upscaling it does.

Sony did a nice job with this one, but it isn't perfect. As a general use TV, if you can get it on sale you can't really go wrong. The Android OS offers great features, and it's sideloadable for Kodi.
I'd like to give it more stars, and while the picture is crisp and as close as you are gonna get to an OLED, the night time viewing is absolutely horrible. You won't see it during the day but at night the screen had bright spots, mostly in the corner, and also has streaks of light during dark scenes. The 940 would be recommended if these things are gonna bother you due to the LED grid array. I couldn't shell out the extra 1k+ on it, so I settled for this set. So if night time performance is important to you please upgrade or look at another brand..

I have had this TV for one week now and I am really enjoying it. I left everything set to Auto and after a couple of days the picture and color adjusted to what it should be. Watching movies on it is great and is best when they are Blue Ray or Ultra High Definition. I am very satisfied with this TV.

This should be awesome compared to last year's 850C. The 850D is an IPS panel, the 850C is a VA panel.

So I have to admit I am a fan of the Sony Bravia line...I purchased this about a month ago, and very pleased with the TV so far. I have plenty of 4K content to use, Netflix, Amazon, loads of Youtube stuff. One of my favorite features is that Chromecast is built in. So many things you can do. From youtube on an iphone you can just cast it with a touch a button. And control not only the video but the volume with the volume buttons on your phone. Also, I use Chrome as my main browser. If you want to push it immediately up to the TV just click a button. You can enable an extension. When you are done just hit the X to close and go directly back to TV. This is my favorite feature of this TV.

Sony 850D - Amazing TV for the Price!

The Sony XBR75X850D is an amazing UHDTV. The picture is very clear and bright, and the colors are vivid, not to "orangey" like the Samsung 8000+ series. This TV has very little "drag" while watching sports or playing video games. I have zero complaints about the TV.
I paid the extra $200 for the Best Buy Geek Squad service and it was definitely worth it! They did a phenomenal job mountain my TV on my wall, even cutting my pre existing speaker wires to clean up the "mess" I had behind my receiver. I would definitely recommend their service, especially when you are purchasing a TV of this size.
My only negative would be the controller. I will miss having my smart controller from Samsung, Sony still has a traditional controller that is not as user friend compared to Samsung with a little bit of lag time.

We bought the 75" Sony to replace our Mitsubishi 65" DLP. Our cat, Kenny, used to look at that TV occasionally with no real response. Last night, we were watching a PBS Nature program about cats, from Africa to Asia. In one part, they were talking about the Snow Leopard that lives up in the Himalayas. There's also a smaller, house-cat sized Pallas Cat that exists in the same territory. There was sequence showing this Pallas cat that had Kenny rapt attention. It was quite close up and when the Pallas cat turned and started toward the camera, Kenny bolted from the room. It had him fooled good! Great TV! Technology is just far and away better than it was 10 years ago. The only thing was the difficulty in setting it up. For a 105 year old, techno-challenged dude, I guess I did all right, though.

Found this TV at a good price (for current time period), had it shipped and an older TV picked up for an additional $15. It was one of those large old 61 in TVs, and first of all the service was quick, fast, and amazing! Great CSR!
TV is amazing in 4K as you'd expect, but normal channels are not that great (still watchable, but my older LEDS do a better job). With 4K content being so limited, you have to make the decision if you want to go with brand, size, and price to make it worth your while. Tv displaying in 1080i (most cable channels), doesn't come out that great as the tv has so many more pixels (hopefully the right reasoning). That being said, I will still keep it and playing around with settings but you really need 4K content to appreciate this!

This is a fantastic TV! I can't say enough about the quality of the picture. My last TV was a 60 inch DLP and I was very happy with it. This Sony puts everything else out there under five thousand to shame.
