Surprisingly Good

That said, I’d say this thing is pretty solid value. It did what I needed that weekend, and the sound is definitely decent.

Sony - XG500 vs JBL Boombox3

It had a crackle in it and distorted after mid volume, but I dealt with that. Then it fell a couple inches off the table and the end speaker broke off. Unacceptable for a supposed outdoor speaker. Bought this instead on sale for about half that and it is fine. Base seems slightly less indoors, but it works great in our environment. The sound quality seems better than the JBL and it has a few extras we may use sometime.

I like it! Can it be Louder? Maybe.

Not too sure what to expect from a “boom box” since I haven’t had one since the 80s ha ha! However, I felt that could be louder??? The sound is nice and since I have nothing to compare it too of the size category it’s hard to say where it stands. However, I did have it playing in a mid size dining room and while it did the jobs and it sounded great I had to turn it up almost as high as it goes, which I wasn’t expecting to do, especially at the price point that it is at. I got it on sale 100.00 less than asking price so I was okay with it, I just feel that maybe it could be louder than what I was hearing. I definitely recommend it when it’s it’s on sale, it’s really nice sounding and aesthetically looks great and I love it that you can plug in a microphone and a guitar!

Always listen to it on mega base mode though. The quality of sound that comes from the speaker is A+. I can finally listen and understand all the words of all my songs with this Sony portable Bluetooth speaker. The speaker is much bigger than shown in speakers. This speaker will not fit in a backpack. But this speaker can boom.
