The only downside is that the sound is not as bright but that is mainly due to it's focus on bass. Also, you could always mess with the sound settings on the music center app to adjust it.

The JBL has better separation but the the tone on this one produces a warm sound reminiscent of the old vacuum tube-type hi-fidelity amplifiers. You won't be disappointed but it may depend on the type of music you listen to.

We're sorry to hear that the volume level did not live up to your expectations. By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. To get the most out of the volume, turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission. • While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. • If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below. 1. Turn off the speaker. 2. Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.
