I had looked for this item since it was on sale and after 2-3 weeks one came available 40 miles away so I called and it was there so I used my credit card to purchase it.I was told I could pick it up anytime. I was able to go after 2 hours so I drove the 40 miles to pick it up.Once there I was told I could not have the product because it had not went through the fraud department yet. I called customer service inside the store and after waiting around 25 minutes I finally talked to someone and asked if there was anything she could do and she basically told me to go back home and wait for an email. I had to cancel my order and go to an ATM and withdraw the cash to go back and buy the speaker. Then the manager told me I would be refunded within 2 days and when I was not refunded in 2 days I called to make sure I was going to get it, I was told it takes 5-10 days so I was lied t again.. It was ridiculous because I had my ID and the card used to order but could not have the product I paid for. Then the customer service rep treated me as if I was an inconvenience and would not even attempt to help me.I felt like I was not valued as a customer.

Awesome Portable Speaker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm really enjoying the new Sony XG500 Portable Bluetooth Speaker! Following are some of the features and things I like about this speaker: - First, of course, is the sound quality. This speaker uses something called X-Balanced speakers to enhance sound quality and provide deep bass. The sound really is good on this unit. I like a loud bass and this speaker will certainly give you all the bass you'd want or at least more than you'd expect from most portable speakers. There is a mega bass button which increases the bass even more. You can play the mega bass when using the standard ClearAudio+ sound setting on the Sony Music Center App. While that setting sounds good, I actually found I prefer to use the App to set my own custom equalizer settings. It does not let you use the mega bass feature when using custom equalizer settings, but I can tell you there is more than enough bass if you crank up the bass equalizer setting so the mega bass is not needed. I have used the speaker to play a variety of types of music, including various genres, loud and soft music, male and female vocalists, instrumental only, etc. It performs well with all types of music and has great sound quality at both low and high volumes. - I like the design of the unit. It has a bit of an old-school boom box look with the carrying handle, though it is more stylish than the old boomboxes. The handle makes it very easy to carry with one hand. It has control buttons on the unit, so you don' t have to use the app if you don't want to use the extra app features. The ports are all covered with a rubber cover that lays flat, so nothing sticks out on the unit. It is covered with a fabric type material all around that makes it easy to clean, Just an all-around nice-looking speaker. - The design is water resistant and dustproof as long as you keep the port cover closed. This makes it very convenient for outdoor use when camping, at the pool or beach, in light rain, etc. - The unit was very easy to set up with supplied directions. The Bluetooth connected quite easily to my iPhone. - It has a battery life of up to 30 hours, which is more than I have ever needed at one time. However, if you do use it long enough to go through the battery charge, it has a real nice quick charge feature that allows you to get three more hours of playback with only a 10 minute charge. - While these are not features I plan to use, it has connections to allow you to plug in a microphone or guitar and you can use it as a guitar amp. Nice features for a portable speaker. - The ends have LED light rings around them that provide some cool lighting options. You can turn the lights on or off or control the type and color of lighting it provides. Nice features for night-time or party play. - The speaker has a couple USB ports for charging other devices and one is a play & charge USB port that allows you to play from a wired connection while charging the other device, There is also a separate audio-in port. - The unit can be controlled with buttons directly on the unit and by playing music from the Apple Music app on the iPhone. However, there is also a very useful Sony Music Center App that will allow you to control all the features of the unit from this App. The App allows you to do everything you can do from the buttons on the unit, plus a lot of other things. It connects to all of your music on your phone, plus Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, SoundCloud, and Spotify. It also connects to a Fiestable App that you can download on your phone, which provides some extra things you can do with the lighting, DJ effects, and other cool features that would be great for a party. The Sony App also gives you access to settings, including sound options such as the ClearAudio+ setting, custom equalizer settings, live sound settings, mega bass, DJ effects, lighting effects, power/battery settings, Bluetooth settings, etc. It really is a very useful app, which isn't always the case with a lot of speaker apps. I especially like the custom equalizer setting, as I found I can improve the sound to my liking much more than the standard settings. I have the three channel equalizer settings set with Bass at 8, Middle at 4 and Treble at 6. I suggest trying this out to compare to the standard sound settings. Normally I would also provide some cons in addition to pros, but I really haven't found anything I dislike about this speaker. If I was to provide any recommendations for future App improvements, I would suggest expanding the equalizer from a 3 channel equalizer to a 5 channel equalizer to provide even greater control. I also don't understand why the Mega Bass feature is not available to play when using the custom sound settings, unless it is to protect it so someone doesn't overload the bass. However, with that said, I am very happy with the sound I get with the three channel equalizer and by turning up the bass on the equalizer, I don't need the mega bass anyway, as I am getting plenty of good thumping bass already. Overall I am very happy with this new Sony speaker and I would highly recommend it!

The battery life is good for a whole day at the beach or if I’m Working in the shop and need music. The construction is very sturdy. I’ve dropped it a couple times and it’s still booming. The charge lasts at least a whole day at full volume. I’ve used it in my boat and my keep as a sound system when I didn’t have one installed and it worked great. I’d buy another one anytime.

Sounds great trouble with connectivity

I’m not really wild the app that helps connect this series of speakers. Also, my phone was only a few feet away and there was skipping going on.

Good, but JBL still better
