We really appreciate your feedback on the XG500 speaker and we're sorry to hear that it hasn't performed to your standards when it comes to the sound quality. The XG500 features 3 sound effects depending on your needs (STAMINA, MEGA BASS, and LIVE SOUND). This function can also be adjusted on the Sony Music Center app. Additionally, there is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs. We also recommend to check the app that you are using (for audio) or your source device for sound settings and adjustment.

It's unfortunate that the unit had to be returned. We could've walked you through with some troubleshooting and offer assistance with our product.
