Hi Kryssleeb, We're sorry to hear that you're not satisfied with the design, built quality, and the sound quality of this speaker and it had to be returned. The Sony SRSXG500 actually features a rugged IP66 water-resistant and dustproof design to make sure that the speaker keeps on playing when exposed to water, sand, and dust. It has features a water repellent mesh fabric makes it easy to clean and dry the outside of the speaker.
And by downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission. While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
