While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
1. Turn off the speaker.
2. Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

big sound in a big package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is definitely not a small bluetooth speaker, but it needs to be big to put out sound like this. It is certainly portable, and the handle makes it easy to carry. The dust proof and water resistant case also makes it suitable for use outdoors, and that's where it shows off the best. Even at max volume, the sound is clear and distortion free, and the bass is surprisingly big. Visually, it's quite interesting. The passive radiators on the sides vibrate along with the bass very visibly. The LED lights that encircle those radiators add some accents. The options added by using the fiestable app are underwhelming, but it does give you the ability to change things up. The battery life is impressive, and the quick charge will give you a significant amount of capacity with only a little time plugged in. Overall, the best thing about this speaker, though, is the sound. I haven't seen a portable speaker put out this big of a sound outdoors before. Truly impressive.

Who knew this Sony unit was that and so much more. The battery says it lasts for 30 hours. I haven't timed it but it has run for several days without being plugged in. No electricity needed is nice because I can take it with me while working in the yard. It says it is water resistant (haven't wanted to get it wet!). It has some weight to it and feels very well built. I thought the lighted rings would be a bit much but I actually like them, they get pretty busy when Jazz music is playing! Best of all, it was incredibly easy to sync via bluetooth. It has a port to plug in an instrument. An electric guitar could be in my future! Love the Mega Bass button!

We were also fortunate enough to end up with a pool in our new place. So this portable speaker has been put through the wringer over the last few weeks. I've taken it with me into the garage as I worked on getting everything organized and in order. It was nice to have my tunes blaring out while I was working (6 1/2 hours yesterday just organizing things). The sound is amazing and the bass is solid. When I'm not working on getting the household pulled together, I take it with me out to the pool so we can enjoy some tunes while enjoying the warm weather. This unit really packs a lot of sound and bass into a relatively small package. I also appreciate that it's water-resistant. I've had no problem with this speaker going a good 10-12 hours with no loss of sound or power. Really a great buy.

By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. To get the most out of the volume, turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

OMG the sound from this is amazing

It’s a new looking speaker from Sony and wow it’s great. Out of the box you get the speaker and the AC adapter and that’s it. It has 2 passive radiators , two tweeters and 2 subwoofers in a package that’s bigger than in the pictures. It’s also IP66 rated which means it’s dust proof and water resistant. It includes USB A ports one of which allowed to play music from a USB drive. Sound wise it has a lot of bass and the clarity is pretty good for a Bluetooth speaker. It also gets pretty loud and doesn’t distort at all really.

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We regret that you are having charging issues with your SRS-XG500 speaker. Make sure that the AC adaptor is connected securely to the speaker. Then, make sure that the AC adaptor and the AC power cord (mains lead) is connected securely to an AC outlet. If you haven't yet, we do have troubleshooting steps that may help resolve some issues.

If the speaker doesn't turn on even while charging the speaker, or trying a different USB cable, resetting the unit may also resolve the issue. Press and hold the (power) button for about 8 seconds to restart the speaker. If the speaker fails to operate successfully after you restart it, initialize the speaker to resume its factory default settings.

Great sound = A great time

Also the battery life is great I've had it for about 2 weeks and charged it like once. Also I like how the lighting is not so in your face. Also it's pretty portable. Thr only thing that i would change is the charging cable. I wish it charged with type-c instead of a barrel style connector.

Didnt find it loud enough

Reason why is for almost 500$ you wouldnexpect to get a great sounding speaker but when sometimes compared to my other small xb33 or xb40 it wasnt really a wow factor ! I know when you get a portable speaker it will sound louder when it pluged into the wall outlet but this speaker wasnt it for me

From my individual clients to my classes, to the beach, it has the power and versatility to accommodate all. One of the best features is the carry handle. Small thing, but being I’m used to carrying around odd shaped P.A. speakers, this is a small but appreciated feature. The sound is nothing short of amazing, especially considering the size and weight of the speaker. No clipping and the bass clearly thumps through the side walls. Another great feature is choice of orientation. Whether it was horizontal or vertical, the sound remained clean and clear. I do use the mic port for my classes, and the sound reproduction is good enough to make this a class staple. I have several other Sony “party type” speakers, so syncing this speaker with the sound app and creating a party chain just adds even more depth to any party set-up I have rolling. Construction feels pretty solid and the IP ratings give some comfort when lugging around from gym to beach. I have no complaints. Great speaker and would definitely recommend!

Party Speaker

Out of the box this easily connected to my phone and google home. After listening for a bit downloaded the Sony Music Center app for controls of all the features. Highly recommend this to control lights, set up party chain and listening preferences. The party chain feature allows you to connect other Sony blue tooth speakers together, which has worked out very well on the deck in my backyard. The light show is pretty cool at night. The speaker promises up to 30 hours of play time, based on my hours of usage I believe this to be accurate. You can charge your phone while listening by plugging in via USB port on the back panel. I also appreciate the water resistant feature which means it can safely go to the pool or beach with me. Construction seems to be pretty rugged and I like the mesh covering. This is a great unit and I would highly recommend for a portable blue tooth speaker.

Pulled it out of the box and was playing music on it in under a minute. I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful it is. We have an open floor plan, and it fills the house very easily. I had to use it in my dad's truck when I borrowed it to move some large appliances, and it sounds better than the system in my car. The lights on the speaker are a nice touch, and they sync with the music automatically. I charged the speaker before borrowing my dad's truck, and used it to charge my phone during the trip. It still has over 60% power after driving for over 5 hours while playing music and charging my phone.
