I purchased the C4 because it’s unlocked, the price was right; it has a nice display, good camera, expandable memory and a simple Android OS. One thing I really like is the phone’s ‘Stamina Mode’ feature. It helps me get the most out of my battery life when needed.

Great Phone for the money

Although the phone is housed in a plastic case, it performs very well. The display makes my old Motorola G look terrible, the apps work very fast, and overall I believe this is a very good product from Sony.

Great Phone and Camera

I am a long-time Android user. When it came time to replace my HTC I was looking for a top-end phone, but I didn't want to pay $500-600. I looked at the OnePlus Two, but my wife's experience with their worse than horrible customer service scared me off. Just when I was thinking I would bite the bullet and acquire a Samsung S6, I found this phone and thought I would try it. Now 4 weeks later I am still very pleased with the purchase. I have phone that runs better than my wife's OnePlus One, has a great front and rear camera - and sports Android 5.0. If you are too thrifty to plop $600 for an unlocked phone - this is a great alternative.

Sony experia c4 is a good phone but not an excellent phone
Very good quality pictures and sound
Location for the charge is very inconvenience it's located top left corner as most phones (I phone and Samsung) has it in the bottom.
I will highly recommended every one should pay attention to this matter otherwise you will be disappointed just like me that is the reason I gave 4 star to this phone
Battery life is good

Average phone for starters

Got this phone on sale. Nice phone with big screen if you do not want to spend a lot on high end phones. I had problems with the voice quality (both the speakers and the mic), at first I thought it could be the network I am on but turned out voice quality is distorted and very low. Music plays okay. I read reviews that camera quality is good but didn't find the photos compelling.
Phone is okay if you do not want to spend a lot of bucks and could reach a middle ground with couple of features. I personally didn't like the phone.

Great phone at first but just unresponsive now

I really loved this phone for its camera and sound system. It really worked well since I bought it late last year. It initially scored very high on performance. However, for some unknown reasons, the touch screen started being unresponsive last month (June). Now its totally dead: touch screen not working. Its really frustrating to invest in a phone like this and then suddenly it stopped working. Can Sony please do something...just anything?

Good phone but useless if you use google services

I had 2 of these phones over the course of a month. They perform as good as a phone in this price range could. With decent specs and expandable storage its hard to pass up. And the design is really nice in the hand like the Z3. The downfall of this device is the fact it isn't supported by Google. The play store only allows app purchases. You get redirected if you try to buy music or books. Would I recommend this device? No. Only due to the fact that when i called Google about the issue because Sony had no idea what was going on, the rep i spoke to stated that the play store shouldn't be up and running at all... couple that with base android lollipop 5.0 and it makes it kind of hard to use. Buyer Beware!

I got this on sale for 199 and it is an impressive phone for that price. Screen is nice and the phone feels comfortable in hand. I did not notice any lagging. The battery life is decent too.

I've had to get the phone replaced only once, but the first time may have been my fault. The phone itself is jam packed with tons of useful features, and works quickly at installing apps, switching apps, and backing up data. However, my 2nd phone locked up on me, and there is no solution to fix the problem without paying Sony a hefty price just to fix the phone, and wait weeks later for it. It was great while it lasted, but I'm never buying a Sony phone again.

Laggy and unreliable

This phone is a Lemon. Performance is laggy at best, despite shutting off all unneeded applications and/or animations. Camera takes for ever to come up (pic quality is great though - IF you can catch the moment in time). Upgrading the Operating system to latest one (upgrade sent by Sony) has put the phone in lockdown mode. Best Buy wont exchange the phone (out of 15 day warranty) - and they are correct in doing so. Its their policy, and besides, they don't want this lemon of a phone back either . Spend the extra money up front so you do not get into such a situation...as you may get locked out of the phone just when you need it the most... whatever savings I had in choosing this phone over its competition is spent (1# getting another temporary phone while this one is sent to Sony for repairs #taking approx. 2-3 weeks#; #2# incurring additional costs to ensure phone is not damaged while shipping making the package heavy; and #3) Not being able to use the theft protection feature inbuilt into the phone, because it locks you out due to the software glitch. Sony did not thoroughly test their software before sending the upgrade- which has stranded many phone owners with the same issue as mine: Known as MXTP error. Have never had such poor performance AND poor attention to detail from ANY other cell phone device I have owned - which spans practically all major brands. Do your research people, or you'll be left carrying a bricked phone. NOT recommended for those needing reliability or performance.

Slow, buggy and not worth the money

From the moment I bought this device I have had nothing but problems. The 2 out of 3 times the phone is unlocked, it goes to a black screen. When it does come on, it always goes to the homescreen, not the open app.
It freezes when loading any web page on any browser.
The camera throws an error nearly every time, causing a crash and requiring a reboot to fix.
The SD card slot ejects every 10 minutes or so.
Occasionally the screen will get yellow and green corruption all over.
Very worryingly, the device interferes with tvs and sound systems, causing static and popping.
Finally, the charger on the device is so stiff it barely goes in. The first time I tried to plug it in, it pinged off and made a deep scratch in the back of the phone.
I was excited to get this phone, especially for selfies, but the selfie quality is laughable. The performance is too slow and mostly too unstable to use even on a casual basis. Save your money and buy something else. Super, super disappointed.

I purchased this Sony phone to use with Tracfone, you would also buy a sim kit. I love everything about this phone, the screen is big and the sound is clear. My Samsung tracfone was acting up, i'm glad i waited. Thank you Sony unlock phone and tracfone.

Loved this phone. It was on sale for a great price and the camera was just too amazing. The front camera had better pixels than my iPhone. The only complaint I had was that it would restart on it's on every single day. Maybe three or four times a day. And it was only like a few weeks after I purchased the phone. If they fix that problem I'd be willing to give five stars. But it was just so annoying. Then t would freeze sometimes as well. Also you have to go online to buy phone accessories since it's not a popular brand.

Serious camera issue (possible mass defect)

Bought mine on Dec. 19, 2015. A week later I found out that the 13MP rear camera does not focus on distant objects, which makes all landscape photos blurry, looking much worse than those taken with the 5MP front camera. I exchanged a new phone, and found out that it had exactly THE SAME PROBLEM. I decided to return the phone this time.
A post on the Sony Xperia C4 Forum said that could be a mass defect. Think twice before you buy this phone, because I suppose I am not the most unfortunate.

Decent phone, but it broke.

This is my second smart phone following the iPhone 4S. I initially liked how big the screen was, but grew to miss the handy, phone-sized phone I used to have. The android OS is definitely better for me who is mildly tech savvy, and who wants it to do cool things without apple always taking a cut and governing what I can and can't have. It all seemed pretty promising until the phone stopped getting service.
I tried all the regular stuff. Turn it off and on again, call tech support, but I didn't buy the Geek Squad Protection so I was dealing with Sony. Theirs is a courteous and stereotypical call center where folks with the usual accent read off the usual script and tell you to do the usual stuff.
Everything is so average.
Anyway I am deciding to upgrade my phone rather than get it repaired under warranty because they charge the customer to and from shipping for any repairs. Repairs they may or may not cover under warranty, thus leading to 2-4 weeks without your phone and out of pocket expenses for shipping and no gain.
This is the second item this year I have had break on me without protection purchased, and that is my hugest regret. Between this and the dryer I bought second hand I have wasted almost $400.00 I'll never skip the plan on items like this again.
ALL THAT ASIDE, the problem with the phone MAY have stemmed from the fact I stuck some velcro to the back to keep it in its case and occasionally would remove it putting stress on the casing. Not sure if this is what happened, but I doubt it. Next time I'll just get a phone that's popular enough to have cases from good companies.
Hope this helped. Don't buy a Phone from a company because you like their TVs.

Poor Quality phone, disappointed customer

Let me say, I own many Sony products including a PS4, Computer, TV, Digital Camera, and various accessories.
I purchased this phone at the very end of last year, and while it lasted I thought the phone performed well. However, after owning the phone for only 3 months, my phone completed died and the phone was useless. I can say for certainty that this WASN'T caused by an accident (never dropped on the floor, or touched water).
My phone was rendered useless, after talking to a customer service rep, he ensured me that if I sent my phone in ( it is under manufacture's warranty) that my phone will be repaired. After sending it in, and waiting 3 months they sent it back saying there is nothing they can do. I'm very disappointed with the way Sony has handled the situation, basically leaving customer's high and dry.
Sony lost a customer with this experience, I can no longer trust the Sony Brand, this speaks very poorly about their products. Overall, I will never buy a Sony product again. They seem to have decreased the quality of their products.
I would not recommend this or any other Sony cell phone to other consumers.
