What I've been waiting for
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who's been vlogging with my phone, I'm glad I waited to grab the Sony ZV1-ii. It's been a game-changer! Now don't get me wrong, my phone does a decent job, and the nicer dslr cameras would probably give you some spectacular cinematic views, but if you're looking for something light to carry and gently toss into your bag, look no further. I was waiting for an upgrade from the previous version which had some complaints about wide angles and microphone, which I'm happy to say have been my selling points. So that it's easier to read, here are my most notable biggest wins that sold me: Pros: + Large sensor + Wider lenns + Same 3-capsule microphone as + Additional autofocus features + Faster turn off + Tripod thread is farther away from battery/SD card door (easier to open) + Touch-driven menu user interface (much easier to navigate) + cinematic vlog mode + Webcam usage + portability + came in a recycled and compact box, small carbon footprint + most of the materials were recycled And the misses: Battery life EIS only (no OIS) Grip is plastic Wider lens (double edge sword, less reach) $100 price jump Overall, the Sony ZV1 II is a great upgrade for vloggers, content creators, and even the average person. It's super easy to use, beginner-friendly, with exceptional video quality, enhanced autofocus and audio recording. Can't recommend this camera enough for your next project. I definitely can't wait to use this on my next trip or just have it in my bag for spontaneous shoots!

Charging does not keep up
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this mainly for the streamimg functionality but the power it takes through the USB isnt even enough to keep it charged while streaming! And the stream is even limited to 720p60 through the USB. This is just awful outdated charging technology. On a $900 camera i think its fair to expect it to be used in the use cases they advertise.

Posted .Hi Zane,
Sony commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback on our ZV1-M2 camera. We appreciate your valuable input and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our ZV1-M2 camera can actually provide power via the USB C port and allows you to prolong the streaming time. As long as the battery is at least 50% or higher, it will use the USB power first and trickle use the battery power. When the camera is off then it will charge the battery. During USB streaming, power is supplied to the camera from the computer. If you want to consume as little computer power as possible, set [USB Power Supply] to [Off].
The format of the streaming data is as follows. Video format: MJPEGResolution: HD720 (1280×720) Frame rate: 30 fps / 25 fps Audio format: LPCM, 48 kHz, 16 bit, 2 ch. If you want to prolong the Recording capability, then you would need to use a USB-C PD device.
If you have any other concerns or questions, feel free to contact us at 239-245-6360.

Vlog and a Bit More
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony ZV-1 II has become my go-to camera on the run because it's versatile, compact, and light. Like most Sony cameras it's intuitive and easy to use out of the box but has more advanced settings that can grow with you. My favorite features of this camera are the fast face to product focus, the easy defocus background, and being able to shoot vertical videos that are phone friendly. This is a vlog camera and shouldn't be considered for much else. The digital zoom isn't good for much. On a nice sunny day the pictures and videos weren't clear at max zoom. I liked zooming in during filming because it was smooth and dynamic but it would pause at thresholds. I wish it was consistent all the way to the max zoom. The built in microphone is really cool. It has an auto setting to detect and pick up sound from any direction or you can lock it to front or back. The quality was good at arms length but started to deteriorate when you got further away. This could be good enough when just starting out or if you don't plan on recording at a distance. The multi-interface shoe helps give you options to upgrade. I was impressed with the low light video. The darker it got the grainier the video got but sometimes something's better than nothing. I like using the Slow & Quick mode to shoot slow product showcases. The image stabilization isn't the best but there is a slight improvement when moving. You still need to walk smoothly to not make the audience motion sick. There is a Soft Skin Effect that I didn't personally care for but I think some might find convenient. Another feature that fell in that bucket was the Cinematic Vlog Setting. This changed the aspect ratio and allowed for some built in filters to be applied. That's just not how I make content but I could see that being useful to some. I'm excited to have this and use this when making my future content. I would definitely recommend this to someone that is looking for a vlog camera that has just a bit more.

Powerhouse with some limitations.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am ready to VLOG and let the world see my life. Well this is will do it with some exceptions. Good: light high megapixels zoom (18-50 ) great sound flip screen with plenty of movement built in ND filter for high lit areas used as a mounted camera (studio, tripod, etc) works flawlessly great colors and gamut built-in well balanced, even with screen flipped out battery life is just as good as first gen with around 250 pics per charge (depending on setup) screw mount is set away from battery door, so swapping them is no longer a issue when on a tripod video is high color and great contrast. I used it with 4k 24 and was pleased with cinematic results. works great with phone/bluetooth handle for "hands free" shooting and filming touchscreen is perfect balance of "yes, you touched it" and "oh you did not mean to touch that" type of reaction. plastic case, but very well built and feels solid in the hand Bad: after 50mm zoom it will look multipoint focus ND filter is like 3 stops so not all high lit areas are taken care of not much of a grip on right side, so being light it will be hard to hold onto swipes do not always register, so hitting the function button is best option rolling shutter is better than last model, but still not smooth as I would like image stab is electronic and not on the lens, so it is not really usable in a walking situation. habve to use catalyst browse to correct with major cropping. lacks flash. even though there are settings for one in the UI power and mode button are too close and sometimes when changing modes, I turn it off by mistake. Ugly: need to disable clear zoom to keep the multi-point focus, when it is turned on and you go past the 50mm mark, it will only focus on whole picture and not subject. I lost alot of focus on my faces when it was turned on and I was far away. ND needs to be more stops and have ability to manually set for creative looks image stab needs to be on lens to correct slight movements, as the software loses a lot of the frame with used in post. So there are things in each section, but it is still a good deal if you want a vlog camera and this the first one you will buy. But, as a upgrade, it still has some work to do.

Stopp using your phone as my vlogging camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been making vlogs and home made movies of my family vacation for the last 15 years, and in the last couple years, I started using my phone to record video. Using my phone to record has been convenient, but two downsides are the microphone is not great especially in windy conditions and the storage of my phone can get full quickly. I was fortunate to take a vacation in July, and I put the ZV-1M2 to the test. I made the decision to only use the ZV-1m2 and not my phone or mirrorless camera to record our family activities. After a week of usage, I can say this will be coming with me in my future trips because it checks several boxes for me. Here is a quick breakdown of why I am loving the ZV-1M2: -18mm-50mm zoom lens: this is a beautiful lens that is wide enough to get the frame I need when I am recording myself and my family with a small selfie stick. The 1.8 aperture at 18mm is beautiful and creates blurry backgrounds which provide such a detailed video specially if shooting in 4k. It’s beautiful. -Directional audio: this is the first camera I have ever used which has smart audio capabilities where the camera knows where the subject is located. I tested this with my spouse, and it’s ridiculously how good it is. If no one was in front, it would record me, but if she was in front it would record her. If the two of us were taking turns talking, it would go back and forth and pick up both of our voices. Amazing feature that is so handy! -Touchscreen and features: very responsive touchscreen that manages to stay bright on a sunny day. I am familiar with Sony cameras, and so navigating the menu and features was easy. I am still playing around with new features that are on this camera, but so far I haven’t found it overwhelming. -Movie and picture quality: the video and picture quality surpass that of my phone without a doubt, however, the quality of the picture is better from my mirrorless camera and that’s not a surprise. The ZV-1M2 is meant for video but the fact that it can still take some decent 20-megapixel photos is a plus for me. Having the zoom option is also handy even if the aperture doesn’t stay at 1.8f. The image stabilization is decent, but I do notice that the one on my phone is a bit better. That said, it’s not enough reason to start vlogging with the phone again. -Battery life: this is the only negative side. I don’t think I got more than an hour of recording with this because I was shooting 4k 30fps. I had to go back and charge the camera at least 2 times during the vacation. All in all, after taking this in my first vacation, I was happy to keep my phone in my pocket or even in the car sometimes because I was just carrying the ZV-1M2. I capture video and pictures, and to my surprise, it’s making me consider if I need to bring the mirrorless camera with me on the tours. It’s just so much more convenient to bring these which fits on a pocket. You will need to bring extra batteries though because the battery goes quick just by shooting video. This was the only thing I was surprised by in a negative way, but it charges back up again fast thanks to the USB-C connection, but I already ordered a couple extra batteries. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to keep their phone separate from their vlogging activities. I don’t need to have all the video clips from my vacation on my phone, I rather have that on a designated camera and if that camera can shoot some decent pictures, I may not even bring the mirrorless camera either. I can’t wait to shoot the next family vacation! It made things easier for me and improved my audio and video quality of my family trips.

Audio capture is incredible!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony - ZV1 II 20.1Megapixel Digital Camera is definitely a must for content creators. The audio of this device is superb as I have tested it recording some live performances, practice sessions and comedians sets! The app for the phone and tablet works well for the transfer of the files. Its form factor is a little chunky, but allows for ease of handling shots. for still shots. The display and the design of its swivel is a must for recording ones self. It has alot of functions that I'm still learnig, it is going to take a while. three things suprise me, it doesn't have any interneal memory, it does not have a flash and it did not come with a little strap though the camera has a place for it. It does boast a full hot shoe for accesories and I will probalby look into purchasing a light/flash and possibly a microphone. It is a nice option when the hot shoe is included. I can't wait to spend some time behind this camera, it is nice addition to my fleet of imaging capturing deviees. I would recommend to a friend.

A Solid Piece of Content Creator Equipment
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Features & Functionality: The Sony ZV-1 II is a total powerhouse with loads of features that make it perfect for webinars. The autofocus is super fast, so I always look sharp, even when I'm on the move. And let me tell you, the built-in ND filter is a real game-changer for those daytime broadcasts when you need to control exposure. It's seriously awesome! Ease of Use: Setting up for a webinar is a piece of cake. The flip-out screen is a total game-changer, letting me frame myself perfectly. The menu system is super easy to use, and the customizable buttons mean I can quickly access my most-used settings. Image Quality: The image quality is amazing! The colors really pop and the depth of field control adds a professional touch to my broadcasts. Plus, the low-light performance is impressive, making sure my webinars look top-notch even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. Audio Quality: The built-in microphone of the vlog camera is actually pretty solid. It picks up clear audio and reduces background noise. But, for my webcast series, I like to use an external mic for that extra crispness. Durability: The build quality is solid. I've taken it with me for on-location webcasts, and it's held up great. The battery life is alright, but could be improved. If you're planning on lengthy sessions, I'd suggest getting an extra battery or a Sony AC adapter. Webinar & Webcast Performance: The real-time eye-tracking and face detection make sure I'm always in focus during my presentations. Plus, the hot shoe lets me easily attach accessories like lights or mics, making it super versatile for different setups. And the USB streaming capability? It's a standout feature! I can connect directly to my PC for webinars without needing an extra capture card. Verdict: The Sony ZV-1 II Vlog camera has been an absolute game-changer for my bi-monthly webinars and webcast series. It's got the perfect mix of quality, functionality, and portability. If you're in the content creation game, particularly webinars and webcasts, this camera is definitely worth the investment.

Great Images in a compact unit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A tiny camera, with great image quality. Sure beats lugging around my old SLR with all of it's lenses. And it takes far better images than my smartphone. I've been using it at my fitness studio capturing images of clients in action and it does a great job snapping video and stills. The 4k video is awesome!! The 20 megapixel images are on point. It's got a nice wide angle lens on it that helps me capture content up close. It has a mounting hole for a tripod. A rechargeable battery with solid long lasting battery life. The flip around touchscreen is nice for grabbing selfies and doing your own interviews or whatever. Things I'm not a huge fan of: The power button is easily obscured by the microphone wind screen. It may seem obvious where it might be to some, but several of my staff and family couldn't find the button without me telling them where to look. The zoom is a bit noisy and the mic pickup is strong. Also, the focus is a bit slow and you have to be very intentional with waiting for it to focus before snapping the image. I love that it uses USB-C for charging. I dislike that it didn't come with a charger. Moreover, I couldn't even use it out of the box without going and getting a big memory stick. Wish these manufacturers would just start packing a basic memory stick in with these type of devices and leave it up to me to go get a bigger/better one later. All in all, it's a good camera, and it has a companion app for your smartphone to assist with usage. I would recommend it to anyone needing a quick camera for everyday use.
