  • General
    • Brand: Sony
    • Model Number: ZV1M2/B
    • Product Name: ZV1 II 20.1-Megapixel Digital Camera for Content Creators and Vloggers
    • Color: Black
    • Digital Camera Type: Point and Shoot Cameras
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: Stacked CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: 1” (13.2 x 8.8 mm)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 3840 x 2160 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: 4x (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Optical Zoom: 2.8x (The optical zoom uses a combination of lenses that magnify the image prior to it being registered at high resolution by the imaging sensor.)
    • In-Camera Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. In-camera stabilization means the image sensor itself moves to counteract detected motion.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW, MP4, H.264 (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): true (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
    • Number of Autofocus Points (Up To): 315
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/32000 (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Burst Rate: 24 frames per second
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds, 5 seconds, 2 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Intelligent Auto, Program Auto, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, 7 Scene Mode presets (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)

    • Integrated Flash: false
  • Display
    • Display Type: LCD

Capture the world the way you want. The ZV-1 II is an ideal all-round vlog camera that streamlines shooting on the go, allowing you to capture amazing quality video and audio without any complex setup. Compact and portable, it features a wide-angle 18-50mm zoom lens for versatile framing, a 1.0-type (1-inch) image sensor for great image quality, and an intelligent microphone for clear audio recording.

  • 3" color touch-screen LCD display: The side-articulating LCD touch-screen makes for easy to compose selfie shots.
  • Impressive image quality: The ZV-1 ll's compact body is equipped with a large 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS image sensor developed by Sony. This also includes a DRAM memory chip for ultra-fast data processing of the approximately 20.1 effective megapixels far exceeding that of a typical smartphone.
  • Frame it all: The wide-angle 18-50mm zoom lens can capture a wide field of view from 18mm, so you can easily fit everyone or everything in the frame to beautiful portraits at 50mm. Whether you're indoors or out, the wide-angle lens turns everyday scenes into dynamic footage.
  • Capture the world the way you want: An advanced image stabilization mode ensures steady video while moving, even when handheld shooting while walking. This mode combines optical and electronic stabilization methods for more effective results.
  • High quality imagery: The ZV-1 II packs powerful specs in its compact body, offering impressive image quality. Its large 1.0-type image sensor means it can capture professional-level footage, shooting in XAVC S format up to 30p and in 4K, and up to 120p in Full HD for up to 5x slow motion.
  • Powerful image stabilization: Shaky footage can ruin the best of vlogs, but the ZV-1 II is built to let you capture great footage even while you're walking and shooting handheld. Active Mode helps to minimize camera blur, giving you steadier shots without the need for any post-shoot editing.
  • Select the best scene with Shot Mark: By adding a Shot Mark while shooting or replaying a video, you can cut out a 15, 30, or 60-second clip to send straight to your smartphone. Shot Marks also allow you to easily find the scenes you want to use later, cutting down on time searching through footage.
  • Stand out with just a tap: A Bokeh Switch lets you immediately switch to the maximum aperture setting (f/1.8-4) for isolating your subject using shallow depth of field and bokeh. A built-in, 3-stop ND filter benefits using this mode in bright lighting conditions by controlling overexposure.
  • Always look your best: Without any special settings, the ZV-1 II accurately captures your skin tone, ensuring a healthy and natural look. Face Priority AE automatically brightens your face so there's no need to worry about lighting. There's also a Soft Skin Effect to adjust your skin smoothness.
  • Add a dramatic touch: Just tap the screen to turn everyday moments into cinematic imagery, all without post-production editing. With the Cinematic Vlog Setting, the camera automatically shoots in a Cinemascope aspect ratio at 24 fps - the film industry standard.
  • Focus on you: The ZV-1 II automatically makes sure you always stay in focus with Touch Tracking. It recognizes human faces and eyes, keeping track of the main subject without wandering off. Tap the subject on the screen to activate the feature. Eye AF can even be set to track animal faces and eyes.
  • Focus on what you want.: Activate Real-time Tracking to follow a subject of your choice. The camera recognizes colors, brightness, and subject distance, as well as facial information to keep track of the subject so you can concentrate on grabbing the best angles.
  • Shooting grip for easy vlogging: Simpler and more comfortable vlogging with the optional GPVPT2BT wireless shooting grip; enables more stable shots and doubles as a tripod. Zoom lever and recording button are on the grip side - you don't have to stretch around the camera to reach key buttons.
  • Simple streaming with a single cable: Transform the ZV-1 II into a high-quality web camera just by connecting a compatible device via USB13. The large 1.0-type (1-inch) image sensor and Creative Look presets ensure vibrant visuals.
  • Simple smartphone connection: Connecting your camera and smartphone has never been easier thanks to the Creators' App mobile application. Data transfers continue in the background even if the smartphone display sleeps or a different app is launched.

    Perfect Compact Camera for Creators!

I recently purchased the Sony ZV-1 II, and I can confidently say it’s the best investment I’ve made for my content creation journey. This camera is the perfect blend of portability, performance, and professional-grade features. Pros: 1. Amazing Image Quality: The 1.0-type sensor delivers crystal-clear photos and videos with vibrant colors and sharp details. 2. Perfect for Vlogging: The wide 18-50mm zoom lens is fantastic for capturing dynamic shots, whether I’m indoors or out exploring. The bokeh effect adds a cinematic touch to my videos. 3. Unbeatable Autofocus: Sony’s real-time Eye Autofocus and subject tracking are incredibly fast and accurate. It locks onto my face even in challenging lighting! 4. Compact & Lightweight: It’s so small, I can carry it everywhere in my bag or pocket, but it still packs a punch in terms of features. 5. User-Friendly Design: The flip-out screen, easy-to-navigate menus, and customizable controls make it beginner-friendly while still offering advanced options for pros. 6. Amazing Sound: The built-in microphone is surprisingly high-quality, and the included windscreen ensures my audio is clean, even on breezy days. Cons: Battery life could be better, but with a spare battery or power bank, it’s manageable. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced creator, the ZV-1 II has everything you need. It’s ideal for vlogging, photography, and even casual family moments. I’ve received so many compliments on the quality of my content since switching to this camera. Sony nailed it with this one. If you’re on the fence, go for it—you won’t regret it! Rating: 5/5

The Best Vlog Camera of 2023

If you're looking for a Vlogging camera, travel camera, or looking to capture more video clips of friends and family for memories sake and want to get a step above mobile phone quality, this camera is an excellent choice. I purchased this camera along side my larger Sony camera as a b-cam for Vlogging and it has been amazing to use. The wider lens is perfect for vlogs or even just photos with friends and family. It's so small and portable, but most importantly the quality of the 4k footage is so good that you can hardly notice which camera I'm using in my videos. I also love the quality of the mics - it sounds great. This camera also has a ton of new features that the more expensive Sony camera's have. Things light skin softening (I use it on low), product show case, amazing AF speeds, touch screen with quick menu buttons which I find so convenient. Overall, really love the camera size and quality, it's a beast in your pocket! My only criticism is that the zoom is a bit loud. So just keep in mind if you're recoding and zoom in, you'll hear it in your video. It's not a deal break for me but just something to note.

    DID NOT REGRET!

I have been thinking about whether getting this or the zv1. Watched a bunch of review videos about the M2 and how it’s better than the previous releases. It’s the wider lens that made me get this. Yes, you can always buy wide lens as an attachment, but as a content creator, I would want something that’s simple to use. I’m not a pro in cameras, as a newbie, it was really easy to navigate. If you’re still deciding which one to get, GET THIS!
